Jim awakes not to the pounding of his heart and the thoughts rushing his brain, his neurons alight with activity and the shadow of his dream still threatening to enclose over him once more.
No, he’s awoken by Spock’s cool, gentle touch to his chest, his body shifting over him until he rests comfortably between his body and the blanket above them. A low purr filling the silence.
Jim’s heart steadies, can feel the shell of Spock’s ear as he presses down against his heart. His hand rises, skims the bare flesh before tangling into Spock’s hair and falls asleep.
