Work Text:
“I didn’t order these.” Sky’s lips twitched into a deep frown. His gaze locked on the giant rainbow bouquet of daisies in the annoyingly handsome delivery guy's hands. They were not going to grace his desk period. For two main reasons: the first being that he didn’t like these kinds of coated flowers and the second, only one person would dare try to ruin his birthday was his narcissistic ex, Gun.
“They’re a gift.'' The delivery guy stated with a tilt of his head as he looked Sky over. Sky knew he’d overdressed for work especially since it was friday. But he just wanted separate work from the friend filled dinner that Rain was throwing for him. He refused to even think about the heat on cheeks was anything less from him being frustrated at Gun. “But once I have you sign that you’ve received them then you can do whatever you like for them.”
“No.” Sky firmly responded before turning to leave the man standing in the doorway of his office so that he could return to his desk.
“Uh…” the man blinked, then looked over his shoulder at the man’s empty secretary’s desk. If he needed to he’d put not accepted but acknowledged in the tablet then leave them on the desk of the secretary.
That’s when Sky pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fine. But drop them off at a random desk as you leave.” He gestured for the man to come closer. “It’s not the flowers' fault that I don’t like who sent them.”
“Very true.” was the response Sky got and to his surprise, the man sat the flowers down on Sky’s secretary’s desk before approaching his desk to let him sign the tablet. “Do you want the card?”
“There’s a trash can by the door.” Sky wouldn’t budge on that. There was no way he was going to tempt fate to read what Gun had to say. He accepted the tablet and signed his name. “Have a good rest of your day.”
“You too.” the man waved before picking up the flowers on his way out. Hopefully the one that got them would be able to find a bit of joy getting them.
“Just remember to behave.” Rain’s voice came over the speakers of his car as he headed to the restaurant.
“I always behave.” Prapai chuckled, eyeing the flowers in the passenger seat. He hadn’t known what to get Rain’s best friend when he’d gotten invited. So he’d settled on a lovely bouquet that he’d arranged at his shop by himself of sunflowers, lavender, and baby’s breath. He also tacked on a gift card to the boba cafe that Rain raves about on his tiktok.
“P’Pai, we both know your best behavior is short-lived, especially when you spot someone pretty.” Rain gave back in a teasing tone. “But for real, just be good?”
“I promise. You make me seem like a creep.” Prapai teased.
“Just a shameless flirt and well he won’t appreciate it.” Rain shared before handing the phone back to Phayu.
“We’re on the terrace close to the bar.” Phayu informed him.
“Okay, I’m almost there.” Prapai responded then said his goodbyes. Once the call ended the car once again filled the pop filled Korean music to keep his good mood going.
When he got to the V Haus he understood why Rain chose the place. It had the cottage core feel with soft lighting and there were plants everywhere. It spoke to his florist heart. Prapai found it wasn’t hard to locate their party. Rain and his friend Sig were loudly laughing at the bar while waiting on their drinks with someone. A man he almost didn’t recognize. Instead of the stuffy but well fitted suit here the man was soft looking with a powder blue cable sweater, black fitted jeans, and tennis shoes. There was a soft highlight to the apple of his cheeks and a silver metallic eyeliner that made his eyes stand out even more. But it was the flower crown on his head that made him stand out the most.
At the bar, Sky was sipping happily to the glittery pink coconut mojito mocktail while Rain and Sig were waiting for their own alcohol spiked drinks. He had been a bit skeptical because Rain had been a bit too giddy when he told him he was going to throw him a birthday dinner. Rain liked to go big or go home and in this case he appreciated it. He’d never been here and he was sure he’d be back here the next time he had a night off.
“Grumpy suit?” A familiar deep timbered man’s voice caught his attention, making him turn to find the delivery guy from this morning. He'd looked handsome in his white button down and jeans that fit him like a glove. Far from the leather pants, jacket, and helmet hair.
“Delivery guy?” Sky gave back when he remembered how the man greeted him.
“You know each other?” Rain pipped in, reminding them they weren’t alone.
“He’s the one that brought me the asshole's bouquet.” Sky confessed; his eyes dropped to the flowers in the man’s hand. “Please tell me you aren’t delivering here?”
“Not unless you’re the birthday boy Rain’s been gatekeeping.”
“He is!” Rain beamed, “P’Pai this is Sky and Sky this P’Prapai. He is P’Phayu’s best friend and he’s not just a delivery guy, he owns the florist shop they come from. His house is a garden that you have to visit!”
“Rain.” Sky side eyed Rain.
“Only if you ever wanted to, Nong. But for tonight.” Prapai smiled warmly, “these are for you.” He passed the bouquet to the younger man and felt a warmth blossom in his chest how happy Sky seemed to be. A stark contrast to the strong dislike of the daisies. He’d take it and hopefully make him smile the rest of the night.
