“It’s just a date.” Sky sighed as he tried to will the heat on his cheeks to go away. He ran his comb through his hair as he looked himself over. Prapai had told him to dress comfortably and not to worry about food. That they were going to have something easy and nice. And yet he couldn’t help himself to dress up a little. He pulled out the buttery soft blouse with the shiny silver threads that he bought a cute vintage pastel green vest with delicate floral designs that Rain had shoved at him when he went shopping with him and Chay. Pairing them with his favorite jeans made it seem partially fancy while also being comfortable to him.
“It’s just a date ?” Rain used his teasing affronted tone followed by a laugh, “Sky, you can fool everyone but me. I know how much you really do like P’Pai. He’s a good guy or I really wouldn’t suggest you move forward. You only deserve the best.”
And didn’t that make Sky be thankful all the more that Rain was his best friend. When they’d first met he’d have thought the blond was an air head but he was loyal, sensitive, and caring. The right kind of friend that he needed after breaking up with Gun. He didn’t need two faced people like Petch or Lucas in his life.
“So you keep telling me.” Sky mused, smoothing over his vest.
“You should wear the cloud earrings. They’re pretty with your makeup and that blouse under that. The moonstones that dangle are even cuter. “I’d also wear the ring with the wrist chain. It goes perfectly with your look.”
“Thanks.” Sky laughed while also putting on the recommended jewelry. He was about to tell Rain he was right when he got the notification that his ride was here. “Hey, thanks for everything but I gotta go.”
“Have a great date!” Rain cheerfully cheered him on.
“I know you said I just needed to bring me but I couldn’t resist?” Sky’s voice had Prapai looking up from where he had been setting the table with some more sunflowers. He had thought that Sky might come in some shorts and a t-shirt but like this made his whole existence needing a reboot. Just like the XP system that’d been running the cash registers when he bought the shop from the Auntie. Sky was stunning in his outfit but what made his heart flutter was the smile on his face. It didn’t fade even as Prapai knew he was taking too long to greet him.
“I, uh, it’s alright.” Prapai stumbled, earning a laugh while rounding the table to properly greet him.
“This is for you.” Sky shyly handed him the iced coffee.
“Thank you and please come in. I thought that we could make some flower arrangements for the temple then have some lunch? It’s sandwiches and sweets. I hope you don’t mind.” Prapai shared the plan for the day.
“Sounds perfect.” Sky nodded, taking a sip of his strawberry green tea.
It wasn’t fifteen minutes later that they were at the table with Sky now wearing an apron along with Prapai as they were making four arrangements for the local temple in the community near the shop. They talked about what was going on at Sky’s workplace, Prapai’s business gearing up for summer, and how they could try a new cafe that Chay had texted in their group chat soon.
“You have a good eye.” Prapai complimented Sky’s arrangement as he leaned closer from where he’d taken his spot next to Sky. “Natural.”
Sky found his own heart fluttering as Prapai inspected his arrangement. He was so beautiful up and smelt of bergamot and mint upclose. Sky wanted to keep on trusting him. Trusting this between them right now would remain good and that it wasn’t going to end up like Gun. It made him want to be brave. So he licked his lips and carefully curled his index finger under Prapai’s chin to guide him into probably the softest kiss he’s ever given.
