Chapter Text
“You could have come over.” Sky chided as he looked his best friend over while they waited at the elevators, “I would have let you wash your clothes or I don’t know maybe use one of the laundromats?”
“Nope, holding them hostage while I wait for the landlord to fix it. It’s his responsibility.” Rain stubbornly declared though smiled over at him with a toothy smile. He rolled his shoulders, determined to keep the same confidence that he had before leaving the house. He truly liked it along with the other few that he had, courtesy of a weekend trip with Chay and his brother-in-law P’Khun. Thankfully it wasn’t too chilly out today.
The elevator chimed before opening up for them. Sky stepped in first, happily sipping his strawberry green tea boba while Rain followed after him. Normally the two of them earned looks but there were a few extra pairs of eyes on Rain with his work suit.
“Well, let’s just hope that all this rebellion is worth it and that J’Yiwha doesn’t catch you. We’ll never hear the end of it if you do.” Sky reminded him even though he didn’t need to. J’Yiwha, the secretarial manager, had taken great pleasure in making sure to catch Rain doing anything that might get him pointed at work.
“Well it’s not like I’ll get fired.”
“Your brother will not save you.”
“But Auntie Rose will. She loves me.” Rain gave back as Sky’s floor came first. Unlike Rain, who worked the directors floor, Sky was happily part of the guild on the second floor that kept this lovely firm chugging along.
“Just don’t press your luck.”
“I am good. I promise and are we still good for lunch?”
“Yes, crazy.” Sky waved before stepping out.
Rain released a breath and pulled his phone out to start playing his morning playlist to keep the whispers blocked out. He’d learned long ago that some things are better left unheard. He hummed happily to Crazy Form till he got to his floor then used his card to swipe in. He waved at Ayan on his way to his own desk. There were already new files on his desk that he would handle after he went through the morning agenda with his boss.
He pulled his tablet out from his messenger bag then went to go make some coffee.
“Good morning.” Phayu greeted Ayan while passing to his office. The younger man nodded then went back to his work. He was a little surprised that Rain wasn’t at his own when he got closer, but then he saw his office door open. That meant Rain had to remake his coffee, making him run late or at least that had been his train of thought before he heard the man speaking. He moved close enough that he couldn’t be seen while listening.
“No, I will not wait. If I have to handle it myself you will be getting the bill and I assure you it won’t be cheap.” Rain’s tone was one he’d only ever heard once and it was when he was being insulted during a meeting with a Korean investor in the firm. So it was rare causing Phayu to go ahead and head inside his office. Phayu stepped into the doorway which by far was his biggest mistake of the day. His brain decided to do a full system stop while his poor heart fully regretted not asking the man out the first day they met. Because if he had then going home later today would be a pure treat .
He wasn’t a fool. Anyone with eyes could see that Rain was beautiful and a temptation on a good day. But today? He had the audacity to show up to work looking like the whole damn meal that Phayu had been trying to deny that he himself was hungry for. There Rain was standing in front of his desk, wearing a pastel yellow work suit; was it a regular suit of trousers and a full length jacket? No, it wasn’t. The jacket was cropped showing his midriff that was covered by a white blouse and neatly tucked into his matching short skirt that was pleated with a mock slit. He wore white stockings that came just above the knee leaving a little bit of mostly milky skin on display pairing those with the high heeled Valentino boots that Rain called his babies .
“Good morning, sir.” Rain greeted him as he realized he wasn’t alone. He quickly stuffed his phone into his waistband as he turned. Not that it made it any better for Phayu. He was sure he might even be gawking because Rain’s shoulder length icy blond hair was braided fully on one side of his head with the rest curled and pushed over his shoulder showing off the soft glow of makeup and a delicate honeycomb choker around his neck. Phayu let his fingers wiggle in his free hand under his jacket to dispel the urge to do something very unprofessional.
“Sir?” Rain tilted his head to the side. The friendly smile started to fade as he seemed to be worrying Rain with his silence.
“G-good morning.” Phayu found himself stumbling to get out and rolled his shoulders to shake off the rest of the invisible hold. He took a tentative step forward.
“Your coffee and sandwich are ready.” Rain cheerfully perked up. “I also laid out the latest report from Thomya for you to review before your meeting with her.”
“Is there anything else?” Phayu asked, giving his jacket and suitcase to Rain as he waited for Phayu to approach him.
“No, you’re perfect-I am mean you’ve done perfect.” Phayu willed the heat not to rise to his cheeks as he schooled his face knowing that Rain was watching him like a hawk now.
“Alright, then I will get to work on the new reports that came this morning.” Rain stated, slowly but with a well placed smile before he took his leave.
