Growing up, Joowon was terribly scared of making friends. Scared that if people got too close, they'd eventually find out. What, he did not know. All the helplessness and dependency of a child with the cynicism and despair of an adult swirled in a toxic cocktail as it accompanied him through his formative years. So when all is said and done, a month after meeting Lee Dongsik at the reunion for Nam Sangbae's death anniversary, Han Joowon takes a temporary transfer to Damyang County in JeollaNam-Do in hopes that his absence would act as compensation for the pain he has brought to Manyang.
Lee Dongsik finds out about the little retreat three weeks in. He is not pleased.

Summary
Late at night, beneath the vintage glow of a lamp on a rain-slicked street, Dongsik catches her first glimpse of Joowon: a split lip and a defiance that refuses to bow even to the storm, clutching her freedom like it's a fragile victory. The shutter clicks before she can stop herself.
Observation bleeds into obsession as lonely nights turn into hours spent stroking a canvas while her muse sits uncaressed a mere four feet away because Dongsik is too cowardly to touch.
Joowon, for her part, grouches, mumbles and even fights. But she comes back. She always comes back. Like a moth to a flame.
