Did you ever really know?
Truly well know that this is how it is,
unchangeably so,
forever?
Did you look me in the eyes
as you let lies slip?
From the lips that promised to never do
such a thing?
Did you hide what I was meant to know?
Knowledge that I was meant to hold,
about myself and world,
none of it for the worse?
Did you smile
and brush it off with a laugh
saying “it's nothing”?
Downplay everything I've seen?
Did you ever feel
that what you did was wrong?
Do you even understand
why I'm upset?
Did ever register in your mind,
that maybe I deserve to know?
To understand, to not be as
alone as I thought in this?
Did you regret it all?
When it all unravelled
as I tugged at the threads,
confronting you with your betrayal?
Did you decide that I don't care
about who you once were to me,
lies or not?
That the time we spent meant nothing?
Did you mean any of this
when you left?
