“So that’s what the sun wooks like?” Plerng blinked, eyes wide as he and his twin sister, Phan stared at Sky. Prapai of course was taking his time grabbing his car.
And if Sky had been smarter he’d have expected the baby siblings of his boyfriend to be just like him. But no, he’d planned on meeting what he was now referring to as normal individuals. This misstep had him stunned but smiling. Which of course only made Phan giggle as she suddenly lifted a rather large bouquet of freshly cut sunflowers and puce colored alstroemeria.
“Um...thank you?” Sky tried to sound a little bit more confident than when he’d said hello.
“You’re welcomes. PaiPai says you're his sun.” Phan helpfully supplied and it made a bit more sense why the boy had said what he did.
“That’s sweet just like these.” Sky replied, glad when Prapai had reasonably brought his Audi.
“Alright! Who’s ready for the park?” Prapai beamed as he got out to help them into the car.
“Me!” the twins gleefully raised their hands.
The sun was warm on his skin as he tilted his head back. Sky was glad the day they chose for their picnic was a good one because there was even a breeze. So it made the sunny day more bearable. He leaned back on his palm as he took a deep breath. Prapai had bought the kids some kites for them to play with while he set out their lunch. With that done he could just enjoy the moment.
He’d been working way too hard on the latest project at work. Being here was just what he needed. His thoughts were interrupted at the sound of giggling and a blur of darkness that zipped away. He lowered his head then opened his eyes to find Phan giggling as she tried to keep her bunny shaped kite zooming through the air.
Sky could see the problem though. She wasn’t following the wind right. So she twisted and the kite started to descend.
“You-”
“Oh no, princess we can’t have that bunny fall! They're supposed to hop-hop high in the sky!” Prapai was there, attentive as always to help her keep her kite in the air. Whereas Plerng was more than happy to keep his warbler shaped kite short and more like it was on a leash to trail behind him.
“But it won’t hop!” Phan gave back.
“Here let me show you how.” Prapai winked at his little sister, then gently took her kite string for a moment to get his hold right; He guided her to grab hold of the string a bit lower so she could do it with him. Finally they were off to make the kite hop in the air.
The sight made a warmth settle in Sky’s chest. If he was honest with himself he hadn’t imagined he’d find someone like Prapai. Not after his horrible relationship with his ex. He hadn’t even dreamed of ever having a life like the one he has now. The true work versus personal life balance. Now, he was even allowing himself to think about a future with Prapai. Not one just a year or two from now, but an actual life with marriage and…kids.
Seeing Prapai now he could easily see how he’d make a good father if he wanted to be.
“What’s that look for?” Prapai asked suddenly from his side as he plopped down. His toothy smile only made Sky feel more certain that he was right about wanting more.
“You. Today. Us.” Sky answered shyly. Prapai’s response was very much him by kissing Sky’s cheek. Sky swatted playfully at him.
