Chapter Text
Both Pop Trolls in the nest had curled around the churring Country-Yodeler in a purring blanket of warm. Hickory was on his back with Branch and Poppy cuddled on top of him. Not even half of the woven mass of blankets were taken up by them.
Poppy let out a small “ mrrp? ” as sleep slowly crept from her brain. Her tail wrapped impossibly tighter into the two coiled by their legs, paw pads softly kneading at the greyish blue fur and green scales in front of her.
She managed to squint her eyes open a bit as she cast a glance across the room for what might have woken her. Poppy let out a small huff when the culprit wasn’t found and snuggled herself back into the warmth of her mates. A purr resettled in her chest to join the sounds of her loves. Her sleepy purr grew stronger as a scaled arm pulled her closer.
Sleep had almost fully settled over her brain when she heard it.
A small whimper from beside her accompanied by a tight squeeze from the tail tangle.
Poppy snapped awake at the sound, she shifted so she could clearly see both of her mates. Her gaze fell on Branch where he’d curled into himself with fluffed fur. A gentle trill left her as she shifted to lay across Hickory to get against Branch’s other side. One of her hands made its way into his hair as her forehead gently met his. She hugged him close with her free arm and focused on keeping her purr steady. Her ear flicked at the feeling of Hickory kissing both of their heads as he hugged them close with a strong churr.
They both relaxed when Branch melted into them, his quiet purr joining the comforting symphony around him. Hickory and Poppy curled securely around their indigo mate, slowly drifting back into peaceful sleep to the soft melody of gentle purrs and churrs.
