Another day's work was over. Working in the royal guard was a duty that Tsukasa accepted by giving his soul to protect his nation. He was known throughout the capital, not only for his loud personality, but for his successful campaigns outside the country or, most recently, the capture of a group of dangerous bandits within the capital. No one could deny his tenacity and dedication. It is thanks to his burning heart of passion that he managed to become a troop captain.
He opened the door of his home expecting to see his girlfriend in the dining room. He was surprised that she was not there, nor was she in the bathroom or the cellar. He tried to remain calm so as not to worsen his thoughts. He was important in the guard. It would be very foolish for the enemy to attack by striking at his weakest point as his girlfriend was. He went through the whole house at once. Every open door revealing an empty room caused his soul to scream in frustration. If anything had happened, the neighbors would have noticed. He chose a house near the merchants' area to keep his girlfriend hidden in the crowd.
When he entered his room, all despair disappeared. He shivered as he felt the adrenaline rush as fast as it came. She was sleeping, hugging the pillow to her chest. She had her work uniform on so he thought she went to bed as soon as she left the bakery. He approached her with a smile, shaking strands of her hair. He left his gloves on top of the dresser so he could better feel her warmth. He rested his fingers against her cheek, feeling the softness of her well-groomed skin. Tsukasa made sure to buy the best of the best just for her. Though he secretly used her products as well and knew Nene passed it up because she wasn't as interested in buying the expensive stuff.
"Tsukasa?"
She slowly opened her eyes, but closed them when she felt the glare of the sun against her face. He chuckled at her annoyed expression and raised his arm using his cloak as a curtain.
"Good evening, I hope you slept well." She nodded, giving a yawn, "You need to change out of your uniform to sleep more comfortably."
"I don't feel like getting up, I just want to sleep for the rest of the afternoon." Nene moved her arms wrapping them around Tsukasa's neck carefully to move in for an awkward kiss, "Come sleep with me."
"Nene, we need to change and then we can go to bed. I also want to take a bath because training was hard. I sure smell like sweat."
She grunted ignoring her boyfriend's words and used all her strength to lay him down next to her. Tsukasa might have resisted, but he wanted to spoil her as much as he could. They were both dedicated to their work, giving their all. So much so that it was difficult to find the other with energy when they returned home. An afternoon of rest was an abnormal situation in their routine, so he would never refuse even though he had several reasons to refuse. Nene moved closer to his chest, closing her eyes and using the cloak as a sheet.
"You still smell like that weird perfume." She murmured, filling herself with the scent that became characteristic to him. "You need to take a break too, little Phoenix. Or next campaign you'll be a Christmas turkey."
"Hey, I thought we weren't going to talk about the Christmas accident again!"
Nene laughed. Tsukasa pouted in frustration because he didn't want to remember the ridicule he made in front of the children who had praised him so highly earlier that afternoon. He grabbed his girlfriend by the cheeks and started kissing all over her face making her laugh. It was his way of getting revenge. He finished with a kiss on her lips which they repeated a few times. They looked at each other in silence caressing each other. Nene played with his neck, stroked his collar and ran her nails down his back under his uniform. He smirked as Tsukasa's ears turned red from shivering. For his part, he lowered his hands to her waist to pull their bodies closer together. He wanted to tell her about so many things that happened to him during the day, but they were both already feeling tired.
He yawned after his girlfriend and they laughed.
"Looks like the knight lost." She said hugging Tsukasa who reciprocated.
"Whose fault is that? After this I'll take a nice bath and of course I'll give my girlfriend the best of services." He rested his chin on top of Nene's hair, hugging her as close as he could.
"We can bathe together, silly." She moved to kiss his cheek before lying back against his chest. "Welcome home."
Tsukasa closed her eyes and murmured, "I'm home now.”
