Somewhere Far Beyond

Summary:

An indefinite amount of time later, the sensation of his shoulder being shaken frantically vaguely registered through Kirishima’s brain, urging him to blearily open his eyelids to find a pair of carmine eyes staring down at him.

Being able to recognize those eyes from anywhere, Kirishima groaned out, coherency seeping through to him, and he immediately blushed, noticing the getup that his crush had on right now—or rather lack of clothing as the blond was shirtless aside from the red cape flowing from his back.

“B-Bakugou?”

“ ‘Fucking finally you’re awake!” Bakugou exclaimed, yanking his best friend to his feet from the ground. “Now, let’s hurry up and try finding our way back home.”

At the statement, Kirishima blinked before he gazed around the surroundings, panic rising up within the moment he caught sight of the unfamiliar looking forest that they were both at.

or:

In the midst of a mundane work study, Kirishima and Bakugou found themselves sent into somewhere far beyond their universe.

Chapter Text

With exam season looming closer and closer, Kirishima found focusing on the mission to be a somewhat difficult task as his stupidly lovesick-self had other priorities in mind, fixating on the fact that he would be spending more tutoring sessions with his best friend who was currently accompanying him in his work study right now.

Fortunately, as if the world had wanted to help him out in speeding things along for the upcoming tutoring session later that night, it didn’t take long for them to locate the villain, and handling him was made easy with how Bakugou was seemingly at the top of his game today, defeating the spider villain with only a close raged explosion to the head.

“Idiot, the hell are you dilly dallying for?” Bakugou growled, dusting off his hands after that strong explosion before stalking up to the redhead in order to flick him on his forehead. “You barely reacted to that asshole’s attacks.”

Yelping out a bit in response to the flick, Kirishima rubbed the back of his head, rattling off the first lie which had popped up in his brain. “Ah, well, I’m uh, just a bit nervous about the exams coming up since I didn’t exactly perform the best during the last exam.”

“That result was in the damn past, you moron,” Bakugou admonished with a poke on the hardening hero’s chest. “You’d do better in this next one ‘cuz I absolutely won’t fucking allow you to fail this time around, so you don’t have to worry your ass off.”

“Gotcha,” Kirishima responded, grinning up to the blond in his usual thousand-watt smile. “Thanks, man. You’re the best.”

At that, Bakugou’s ears tinged a bright pink as he scoffed, turning his face away from Kirishima a bit. “Damn right I am.”

Just as Kirishima was about to deliver a friendly quip in response, his peripheral vision had suddenly detected the sight of an incoming green beam being launched towards their way by a little girl from behind them, and he made a move to harden himself against the attack.

Sadly, the redhead was subsequently outpaced as the beam had traveled at an incredible pace, striking them both within the span of just a second after Kirishima had taken note of its presence.

Just like that, they were both engulfed with light, all sounds around them had deafened to the max, darkness swallowing them soon after.

“I don’t get it. What’s going- “

“That brat obviously did somethin’ to us with her quirk,” Bakugou surmised, his face seated in a deep frown. “And now, it seems like we’ve been fuckin’ teleported away from Musutafu.”

Instantly once the gravity of their situation dawned upon himself, Kirishima cursed, a slight chill traveling up his spine. “Shit.”

```
Much to both of their ongoing frustration, finding their way back to Musutafu had looked to be an impossible task seeing as the forest appeared to be endless, giving them no sign of any exit whatsoever.
After a whole two hours of walking, they decided to take a breather, sitting themselves on a log in order to allow their weary legs to regain energy, so that they would be able to resume their futile attempt in getting out of the forest with more vigor.
In the midst of the little break time, Kirishima’s cheeks bloomed pink the moment that his eyes had finally appeared to be working correctly, spotting the red dangly earrings which were hung on his crush’s ears for the first time. “Whoa, those earrings look great on you, dude.”
“S-Shut up!” Bakugou growled with equally pink cheeks, and that was when sparks of fire were emitted from his knuckles as he clenched them so tightly that it turned white. “The fuck?”
“Wait, oh my god, that’s awesome, bro!” Kirishima exclaimed, rising up to his feet in his glee. “It’s almost as if you still had your quirk with you!”
“Tch, well, I suppose that it’s the best possible replacement quirk that I could ask for right now,” Bakugou stated, the curve of his lips ticking upwards in a smirk before he raised his clenched palm up, moving it around the air with the obvious intention of recreating the embers of flame from earlier, and he immediately scowled upon coming out empty handed. “Fuck, why won’t it work?!”
“Hey, don’t push yourself too hard,” Kirishima chastised, elbowing his friend reassuringly on his ribs. “It’ll take time to adjust, but you’ll get the hang of your new quirk in no time.”
“Tch whatever,” Bakugou grunted out, the tension in his shoulders relaxing quite a bit as his palms slackened, unceremoniously falling back down to dangle around his sides. “Anyway, you should go ahead and fucking check if you got some type of new quirk with you as well.”
Obliging, Kirishima took a sharp intake of breath before he proceeded to activate his quirk, staring down to see red scales traveling up his arm, and he rejoiced at that, only for the scales to subside quickly in a blink of an eye.
Yet, in spite of the bad outcome, Kirishima’s joy hadn’t wavered even in the slightest as he turned to a gaping Bakugou, an ecstatic grin tugging at his face. “Did you see that?! These scales look so manly looking!”
“Yeah, that was badass as hell!” Bakugou responded, awe shining through his beautiful carmine irises. “I can’t wait to see you use them again! I just know that it’ll be fuckin’ awesome!”
At that, the rate of Kirishima’s heart sped up immensely, thundering so loudly in his chest that he could barely hear anything else but the sound of his own heartbeat.
Then, to make matters worse, his stomach had conspired against him, choosing that exact moment to rumble none too softly, and that sound rang through the air, bringing about a bright red hue to color Kirishima’s face.
In response to the hungered rumble, Bakugou chuckled out all cutely before he stood up, jutting his chin teasingly at the redhead. “ ‘Cmon, moron, let’s go fill that stomach of yours.”
“R-Right.”
```

Considering the fact that they had little to no choice in their current circumstances, both heroes in training had taken drastic measures, crouching themselves down in the nearby river as they moved about frenziedly, attempting to catch the rapidly moving fishes with just their bare hands.

Unfortunately, regardless of their best efforts, the fishes were unbelievably stubborn as they simply refused to get caught, escaping the humans’ grasp each and every time.

“I’ve had fuckin’ enough!” Bakugou screeched, as he reached one of his hands down to grasp the sword which had been attached to his belt, stabbing a fish with it. “There, I finally got one!”

“Ah, that was so manly, Bakugou!” Kirishima marveled in amazement, and that was when an idea struck him, urging him to pull out the twin daggers that he had on his person. “But, wait up ‘cuz backup is coming your way!”

“Heh, well, you better not fucking slow me down then,” Bakugou muttered out, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Let’s hurry and catch those shitty fishes, Kirishima.”

Offering a resolute nod to his best friend, Kirishima tightened his hold on the twin daggers, excitement coursing through his veins. “ ‘On it!”

```
Finally, following an eventful yet ultimately successful catching session, dinner was no longer a problem as Bakugou swiftly got into work, cooking the fishes that over the campfire that they had set up.
Enraptured by the beautiful sight of his crush being illuminated by the embers of the fire, Kirishima sat up straighter, resting his head in one of his hands as he stared on, his eyes never ever straying away from the blond.
And then, suddenly, Bakugou advanced towards the redhead, handing a stick with four fishes over to him, the heat of the campfire very much palpable through the red present in his cheeks.
“Thanks.” Kirishima mumbled through his cheeks filled to the brim with food, and he grinned through the delicious taste, a feeling of warmth spreading throughout his body the moment he had finished devouring the fish that he had been chewing. “Nice work! These fishes taste amazing, dude!”
“Yeah, whatever.” Bakugou huffed out as he sat himself down on the space beside Kirishima, his face perking up ever so slightly upon taking a bite off of his own set of fishes. “It’s good…”
“Isn’t it?” Nudging his best friend playfully on his chest, Kirishima beamed up at Bakugou. “And it’s made possible because of you.”
“You stupid idiot,” Bakugou scowled, throwing the redhead a scathing glare if looks could kill. “Would it kill you to give yourself some fucking due? You were literally half the damn reason why we even caught all of these fishes to begin with.”
“O-Oh right, my bad then,” Once he was finally able to force down the lump which had lodged itself in his throat, Kirishima rectified his mistake, smiling impossibly widely at the blond. “We both made today’s dinner possible.”
At the sight of Bakugou’s resulting small smile from his words, Kirishima’s heart raced uncontrollably in his chest, and he instinctively stuffed his hands into his pants pocket in his flustered stupor, his eyes widening significantly once he felt an item inside his pockets.
Hastily, Kirishima pulled the item—a sack, out from his pants, rifling through it to find bills and coins of some unknown currency with the inscription ‘Solars’ littered all over them.
“That’s odd,” Kirishima mumbled out, inspecting the coins with a furrowed brow. “I’m not sure if it’s because I’m misremembering some details, but I could’ve sworn that this is the first time I heard of a currency called ‘Solars’ around.”
“Fuck, damn it to fucking hell!” Bakugou cursed, his face growing deathly pale as a glint of realization passed through his eyes. “We’re doomed!”
“Huh, why?” Kirishima questioned, anxiety striking him instantaneously just from witnessing the state of panic that Bakugou was in. “What’s wrong?”
Swiveling around to face him, Bakugou explained through gritted teeth, vexation blatant through his tone. “Judging from the name of the shitty currency, it looks like we’re trapped in some weird country that never fucking exists.”
At that, dread crept up to Kirishima, matching the panic showing on his best friend’s face perfectly, and he cursed internally to himself for the longest while before he took a deep breath, laying a hand atop the blond’s shoulder, trying to keep his voice even. “I-It’ll be fine, we’ll both find a way out of this, I know that we would, so don’t be scared, okay?”
Much to the redhead’s surprise, instead of spouting out how he wasn’t scared, Bakugou was placid, not showing much of a reaction other than a nod.
Yet, just from seeing such a reaction from Bakugou, Kirishima could feel his own fears dissipating by a smidge as it was replaced by a comforting warmth which had lingered throughout the rest of the night, lulling him to sleep about an hour later.
