Prompt: “Lay in the sun and cuddle me?”

Dick stretched out, a yawn escaping him as leaves lazily drifted to the ground in the light breeze.

It was a pleasant day. The sun was just beginning to set which casted a gorgeous glow across the park, the flowers were in full bloom which bathed the place in colour, there was a festival going on elsewhere that seemed to attract away any usuals who’d be lurking around the park otherwise and holding the attention of the children allowing a peaceful quiet to lay across the place like a blanket.

And the company was nice.

Richard smiled at Tim who was laying across Kon, on their backs gazing at the sky. Every now and then they’d call out some random object or animal. Whatever they thought the cloud above looked like.

Jason was sitting under a tree, a book laying in his lap as one knee was pulled up the other laying flat. The tree provided a lovely patch of shade and the flowers that occasionally fluttered from it onto his page were brushed off calmly. He seemed content. Content despite the fact that sitting besides him, leaning on his arm even, was his youngest brother. Damian had both his knees drawn up in order to keep his sketchbook resting on something solid as his eyes stayed trained on the horizon. Duke was playing with Titus, laughing and throwing a frisbee. It seemed Damian was capturing the moment in a way far deeper than a mere picture off his phone ever could. It caused a smile to cross Dicks face at thought.

Stephanie and Cass were sitting a little ways away, braiding flowers and grass into crowns fit for the fair maidens that they were. They had a nice pile beside them and Richard suspected that they only had about fifteen minutes more max before they’d be coming around and passing them out, insisting that everyone had to have one.

Barbara was sitting on a swing, not moving. Just enjoying the weather, wheelchair parked beside her.

Bruce was off getting more treats, the bakery was right next door.

Speaking of the bakery though; Dick’s smile widened as he watched the girl who lived there approach. She had grass stains on her pants but a wide smile on her own face. She looked down at him as she stepped up to him, holding out a croissant.

“Lay in the sun and cuddle?” he offered instead of taking the treat.

She nodded happily and flopped down, shuffling herself into his side. Richard wrapped his arm around her and held her close. He let his eyes drift shut as voices suddenly started up somewhere to his right.

There it was.

He smiled, waiting for his crown to come around.

This was nice.
