Before Meeting

Summary:

Takes place before Tally and Shay meet and what was Shay doing in New Pretty Town when all hell broke lose thanks to Tally.

Notes:

I have had um a week. First of all my Step-uncle died so that happened. I had what felt like was a sence in a TV show happen in parking lot of my school where my older brother saw one of my bullies breaking the law took a picutre of it to turn in and then there was a yelling match in the parking lot with both my brother and her then my mom had to step in to try to cool things off and it was a whole thing. Also random thing that happened in my life with no context: When I was waiting for my Gynocologist my mom pulled up and opened a live stream of previously mentioned step-uncles funeral.

Anyways thank for reading my A/N diary entry for the week also it is my dads birthday so good for him! Also the prompt used was Tighten. I used it more in a metaphorical sense of Shay tightening on this dream that she has with Smokey so I hope that came through.

Work Text:

Looking out over to where there were her old friends that turned pretty Shay could not help but feel a sigh come out of her mouth. It was one thing to feel lost when you are the youngest of the uglies but when you don't even think you will become pretty it is even worse.

All of that time and friendship for absolutely nothing.

Time with her parents and love for them went down the drain because she was going to run to Smokey. Because otherwise in a way she will die. She was not made to be pretty ; she knew that with her whole heart. She could never act like one.

Being thrown out of her thoughts, Shay hears the motor of a hover car overhead and the sounds that she had at first thought was just some weird sound machine going off for the fun of it she realized was a siren.

Shit. A lot of people are coming and fast. She had to get out of here.

Maybe in the future Shay will think that experience had been fun that she got to have the time of her life doing so. But she could not find the fun when she was alone. Where there was no one like David right beside her giggling and freaking out with the adrenaline of getting caught.

It was sad.

Sometimes she wondered how she got to this place. If she never met David would she never think of these things? Would she just be looking forward to being pretty? What would have happened?

Though she had no more time to think since she had to get the hell out of here.

She just had to tighten onto her hope about the future. About Smokey. There was no more denying the truth of that. She had already crossed that bridge. And there was no turning back.
