Work Text:
Laying down in her bed Shay was still breathing hard like she was going to lose her life if she didn't. Which was interesting considering this night has felt like the highlight of her life that she has not had in a long time.
The fun.
Excitement.
And everything in between.
But the most important thing is that Tally is a real person. Skin and bones made from one's own cells not yet taken and ripped to perceived perfection.
Shay can almost imagine the way Tally uses her mind. Like finding an old bridge built most likely in the rusty area that some person felt the need to let it stay. Grown old watching as the society built around it and the atrocities that took place.
It will stand longer than this city would. That was the thing about rustys building style: they made it permenuit. Almost as blemishes on the face of the Earth that will forever tell of their existence even when they are all long gone.
In a way , Shay eved Tally for finding this bridge instead of her but to be fair if her assessment is right about the way Tally is. Then she is a bombshell of a person leaving her mark everywhere even places she is not allowed like New Pretty Town.
That is a braveness that Shay wants to reach for.
But also knows she cannot have Special Circumstances on her back.
Tally found the key to the link of the past to this weird new society. Something only the truest beauty can build. And that is the mind knowing.
Shay giggles into her pillow again.
She was not going to get any sleep tonight.
Not when she found someone all to like her to bring her back to life.
When she finds out that she is going to leave their own skin and bones in the world, she can only hope that it is the best and most permentit thing to exist. Something like Smokey.
