Work Text:

“Hyung.” Giggles were barely muffled by a hand, words slurred. “Hyung, you’re so pretty.”

Seonghwa frowned and looked up to the sight of a red-eared giggly Yunho towering over him. “Yunho, are you… are you drunk? It’s two in the afternoon.”

“Nooooo,” he pouted. He moved as if his body was too big for him, plopping half on top of Seonghwa on the couch. “Oof.”

Immediately checking his forehead (which was a normal temperature), he sighed and wrapped an arm around the tallest, pulling his head back to check his eyes. They weren’t dilated, hmmm… Face scrunched in confusion, the siren started fluffing Yunho’s hair, which made him all giggly again. “What’s gotten into my Yuyu today?”

“Feel weird but goooood, hyungie.”

Sighing again, Seonghwa called for San in the kitchen.

“What’s up, hyung?” he asked, taking in the sight of the oversized Yunho on his lap.

“Can you try to see if anything is wrong with him? He’s all loopy but not drunk, Sannie, and I don’t know what’s going on.” Seonghwa tried to control his voice but emotion betrayed him, worry bleeding through. San, who was an intuitive empath, could feel the emotions of those close to him with concentration, and could hopefully figure out the situation.

“Of course. I’m sure he’s fine, hyungie,” he said, sitting next to Seonghwa and rubbing his arm. “Now let’s see…” His eyebrows furrowed a bit, looking into the eyes of Yunho, who took it as a staring contest. A few seconds passed before he said, “He’s not hurt or anything, so that’s good, he’s mostly just… I don’t know, it’s almost like he’s on laughing gas. Dunno how or why, though.”

Taking a few seconds to process that information, Seonghwa gently turned Yunho to face him again. “Hey, baby, did you eat or drink anything funny today?”

A grin broke out across his face, eyes blinking slowly as he remembered. “Mmmmmmmmy tea tasted different,” he slurred before chuckling, leaning to the side and falling into San, snuggling his neck.

“Oh, gods,” Seonghwa cringed. “He drank the potion Hongjoong made for Yeosang’s dental surgery.”

San gasped and hugged Yunho, who was now sprawled across both of them. “Is that true, Yuyu?”

Hiccupping, he replied cheekily, “I don’t knowwww.”

“I- we should call Hongjoong,” said Seonghwa firmly, still worried about his canine skinwalker. “Find out more about the potion,”

Nodding, San fished his phone from his pocket and handed it to Seonghwa, who pulled up Hongjoong’s number and put it on speaker. The call connected with Hongjoong saying, “Hello?”

“Joongie, it’s Seonghwa. We have a bit of a situation here.”

“Which is…?”

“We think Yunho accidentally drank your draft made for Yeosang’s dental appointment, he’s all loopy but otherwise not showing signs of being drunk.”

A puff of air was blown into the receiver. “Okay. That’s not what I wanted to hear, but it’s not the end of the world, it’ll be easy enough to make another one. Is he fine?”

“Yeah,” San jumped in. “Just clingy and he keeps laughing a lot.”

“That’s to be expected,” said Hongjoong.

“Is there any way to get it out of his system faster, or perhaps reverse the effects?” asked Seonghwa nervously, afraid of the answer.

“Well,” the fae witch started. “I made the potion based on Yeosang’s bodily physiology, so it should flush out of his system faster. Make sure he eats and drinks something, that’ll sober him up. Other than that, just babysit, basically. It’s safe to let him sleep if that’s easier.”

“But I’m not a baby!” piped up Yunho, who started cackling like he just said the funniest thing ever.

“Alright, Joong-ah, thanks, we’ll keep you updated. See you later!” Seonghwa said into the phone over the noise before hanging up, handing the phone back to San, who had been infected with the tallest one’s laughter. A smile graced his lips at their cute antics. “Yunho, have you eaten anything recently?”

“Yeah, the-the love of atiny!”

Seonghwa shook his head in amusement, ruffling his hair. “Anything else?”

“Wooyoungie made me s’m lunch,” he said dreamily, moving to settle completely in San’s lap.

“Big puppy,” the younger remarked, kissing his forehead and gladly accepting the cuddles.

Softly fiddling with Yunho’s ear, thinking, Seonghwa muttered, “Maybe Mingi can get him to take a nap.”

Gasping and nearly jumping off the couch (“Woah there, big boy!”), Yunho excitedly exclaimed, “Mingi? Mingi! Mangi-yah, Minki, Minmin, Mingiiiiiiiiii.” Looking around confused, he said once more, “Mingi?” In his eyes, he asked Where’s my best friend?

“Ah, yeah, I’ll go get him,” Seonghwa said, immediately standing to go on a mini manhunt for their resident faun.

Upon realizing that Mingi (and now Seonghwa) wasn’t in the room with them, Yunho’s eyes gathered tears and his bottom lip quivered, a stark contrast from just seconds before.

“Oh, no, baby, it’s okay!” cooed San, doing his best to placate the skinwalker in his lap. A tear fell and it broke his heart. “Yuyu, honey, Minki will be here in just a minute, I promise.”

He whined and buried his face into San’s neck, little sniffles escaping him as the younger hugged and rubbed his back, the floodgates opening. “Shhh, you’ll be okay, puppy.”

Not long after (which was entirely too long), Mingi walked into the room; the soft sound of his hooves had Yunho perking up, hope written across his face. “Mangi?”

“I heard you accidentally drugged yourself and needed cuddles.”

“Mingi!!!” Leaping from the couch, Yunho practically jumped into his best friend’s arms, knocking both of them flat on the floor. A moment later, he shifted into a cream-colored golden retriever, licking every exposed inch of his face as if to say I love you I love you I love you!!! while the younger gave him loving scratches all over.

“Problem solved?” shrugged San, finding the whole reuniting scene adorable. He tuned into Yunho’s emotions again just to check up on him and found that he was radiating happiness and relief, although the dopiness was still very much present.

“How is he?” inquired Seonghwa, who returned to sit with San.

“A bit… all over the place. Poor baby started crying until Mingi-yah walked in, and now, well.” He waved vaguely at the dogpile in the middle of the room. “Emotionally he’s still okay, but that mood swing was kinda intense for the both of us. Maybe we can get him to sleep, let the potion wear off.”

The eldest nodded. “I think Jongho just bought a new package of chamomile tea. I’ll go make a cup for him.” As he left once more, San knelt next to the overjoyed yet wobbly golden and gave him, alongside Mingi, lots of pets and kisses.

Minutes passed and Yunho, now content, shifted back to his tall human form, squishing Mingi in a makeshift weighted blanket and nuzzling into his chest. “Mmmm, Mangi-yah.” His hoodie was bunched up around his midriff, and San pulled it down so he wouldn’t get cold.

“Teatime!” announced their siren hyung, carrying a warm mug. “Yuyu, this is special just for you, puppy.”

“Yeeeeeeee,” he said, eyes unfocused as he tried to sit up with the help of San and Mingi. “Some teeeeeeeeea. Haha, that rhymes.”

“Yes it does, baby,” replied Seonghwa, gently as if talking to a small child. “Here you go.” He had to half-hold the cup so it wouldn’t spill on the skinwalker’s lap, but he greedily slurped down the herbal concoction. San had to stop him from choking at one point and make him breathe for a second, but he ended up finishing the entire thing.

“I’ll get him ready for bed,” said Seonghwa, brushing hair off of Yunho’s forehead.

“Hyung,” deadpanned San. “He’s a giant. This is a teamwork kinda situation. Plus he cried earlier because Mingi wasn’t here, so you’re stuck with us.”

Chuckling, he set the mug aside (to be put up properly later) and agreed. “Okay, let’s get him to his room first.” Yunho could walk, but not very well, almost drunkenly, so he leaned on Seonghwa and Mingi for the short trek. San picked out comfy makeshift pajamas and the other two helped him step out of the old clothes into the new ones while giggling to himself the whole time.

“Okay, puppy, all ready for bed?” Seonghwa smoothed over his arm, sitting at the edge of the bed where Yunho lay sprawled out.

Blinking sleepily, all he could muster was, “Mmhmmmmmmingi.” A big yawn overtook his face and he made grabby hands.

“Yeah, yeah,” he said, amusement apparent in his voice as he clopped over, ready for a hardcore snuggle sesh. Laying down, he gathered the taller into a hug, limbs tangled and comfortable. A reassuring smile was exchanged with the other two, silently letting them know that he was fine and they were silently dismissed. Before they could leave, though-

“I llllove,” - he hiccuped – “love you guys.” A light snore followed closely before he shifted into a dog again, all fluff, fur, and cuteness, still bundled in his best friend’s arms.

Needless to say, many pictures were taken and posted for both Ateez and atiny to enjoy the adorableness of one Jeong Yunho.
