Gus and Matt were at the graveyard, taking a short break from their long afternoon of repairing, it’d been almost a month now since they first discovered the place. The graveyard was nowhere near done. But considering how it looked a month ago, this sight was certainly an improvement.
“Whatcha thinkin' about?” Matt breathed, hovering over him suddenly,
Gus looked over at him, having been startled out of his thoughts. Matt had that stupid cat-like smile on his face, one he’d come to be familiar with these past few weeks as he slowly(very very slowly) opened up to him. Gus returned the smile,
“Nothing much,” Gus’ voice creaked, he cleared his throat and shifted his body to face Matt,
“Nothing much huh? That’s boring.” He teased,
“Okay, well what are you thinking about?” Gus scoffed,
Matt crossed his arms and faced away from him, Gus swore he saw some red creep up on his face, but it disappeared as Matt let out a breath,
“How much more work we have to do here,” Matt spoke softly, looking up at the sky as the sun began to set, the beautiful red and orange of the sky starting to blend,
“Yeah well, we’ll get it done together!!” Gus used his elbows to push himself up, shifting to a crisscross position on the gravelly ground so he could look at Matt,
“Hmm” Matt hummed, a small smile quirked on his lips, he looked over at Gus again,
“Time flies when you’re in a really creepy graveyard with your friend huh?” He joked,
Gus’ jaw hung down, he smiled big and Matt took note of the sparkle in his eyes,
“Say that again?” Gus poked him in the shoulder,
“What?” Matt asked, genuinely confused, he sat up to meet his friend's eyes,
“You called me your friend!!” Gus exclaimed, pointing a finger in his face, Matt seemed embarrassed, a red hue taking over his cheeks,
“Did I?” He spoke quietly, more so to himself,
“Yep! You totally diddd” Gus teased, poking him more, Matt grabbed his friend's wrists and shoved them at Gus’ chest, Gus almost fell,
“Oh titan,” Matt turned away from him, hiding his face in his hands.
“I’m never gonna live this down am I?” He peeked through his fingers at Gus,
“Nope!”
