Chapter Text
Her
Loving her, so briefly and wonderfully
Was like staring directly into the sun
The gentle rays warmed my skin
Nourished my world
But doing so, also burned me
Blistered my skin and blinded my eyes
Even as I blinked and cleared the tears
I looked again
And again
And she smiled, and, knowing my longing
She told me to look away
I asked, why?
It was sweet agony, but I never wanted it to end
When she covered my eyes and blocked out the sun
I broke from within, but my tears were warm
A comfort, somehow
Even as their salty tang covered my lips
I realized in the shade from the tree of my grief
That the sun was not meant to be stared at
That loving her, so briefly and wonderfully,
Came to an end
And I thanked her
