Omega and the Sisterhood
“I’ve been where you are Omega. And if you are willing to trust me, I can show you something of your… shall we say, essence?”
“How, exactly?”
“Well I wasn’t always a bounty hunter you know.”
“Alright, I’m game.”
“Good. Then, let’s begin my dear.”
*
And so here they were, just the two of them. Omega and Asajj Ventress.
Sitting on the cold floor of the cargo hold of Fennec’s ship. But neither of them seemed too bothered by their surroundings though. As this was something Omega had wanted for so long. To know whom she really was. And Ventress, well, she had been looking all around the galaxy for potentials possessing the Force. And Omega surely seemed to be as a good of a candidate as any Ventress had encountered so far.
“Keep your eyes closed, Omega, you know the drill.”
Omega hadn’t done that though, not all the time. Her concentration wavering. And she was being rather intrigued by the Dathomirian Night Sister, the former Sith apprentice, having turned bounty hunter slash whatever else Ventress had been. After all, Fennec had been more than happy to blurt out Ventress’ whole life story after a drink or few while the three of them having taken into talking after Omega had agreed to take up on Ventress’ offer to show Omega what she could be. The kidnapping now all but forgotten.
“Sorry!”
Omega was quick to close her eyes, having taking a peek or few of the witch Fennec claimed her new trainer to be. Whatever the story was behind Ventress, Omega wasn’t judging. As clearly, life for her had not been an easy one, some of the words not spoken by either Fennec nor Ventress telling volumes. Omega had also sensed there was a bond shard between the two hunters, something Omega knew to be good for the both of them. For Fennec certainly, perhaps even Ventress.
“Now, imagine the space around you in your mind. The objects you just took a look at, find them there as well. Paint the perfect picture of reality in there.”
Omega did do just as instructed. It took her mere moments before the ship around them visualised itself inside of Omega’s mind, shared in the Force connection with Ventress.
“This… is very good, Omega. Looks like you have quite the knack for the Force after all.”
Ventress was indeed impressed about the ability of the girl in the connection with her. Her intel of Omega having not done credit for the young clone’s ability. And that was a good thing. As the lesser people knew what Omega could do, the better. And indeed, all the powers this clone held.
“Thanks. Just like you said, I’ve imagined it all to the minute detail and so here we are.”
They were speaking inside the connection, inside their minds and not with words, naturally. Ventress not having had the opportunity to do this in a while, really loved to flex her own Force muscles as it were. Being able to connect with someone so powerful was familiar and good on so many levels.
“Good, good. Keep doing what you do and then, move the objects in your mind. Bend them to your will.”
The instructions were clear enough. And Omega started moving things around just like ordered. Changing the setting the way she wanted it to appear again, again and again.
Naturally Omega was being slightly careful. Seeing as Ventress had been a Sith for a while there at least or adjacent to one. And from what Omega had learnt about the Force, the light side at least, Omega knew better than not to use the Force for her own purposes. But this was an exercise in her own mind and here she could train without hindrance to get better.
The two continued with their session, the trainee getting the instructions from her new mentor, both of them getting comfortable with each other as well during this, training process. Omega peeking in a look at Ventress’ thoughts, when she wasn’t looking. Just in case.
*
The trip back had taken some time. But it had been spent well. Omega learning of the Force from Ventress. Becoming quite good at it too, even if the time spent was nothing compared to becoming a Jedi Youngling.
But here they were on their way back to the rendezvous with Echo and Crosshair at a neutral place as trust did not come easily for the clones anymore. Especially where Fennec was concerned. As clearly, the bounty hunter had once again been involved in the capture of Omega. Keeping the location of both Rex’s bases and Pabu safe was a must for now.
Omega though, having learnt already so much, the three rotation long trip making the time for her and Ventress to go through some of the basics. Omega’s hunger growing in the process. Wanting to learn even more. Now all she had to do was to convince her family to let her continue on the training which meant they all needed to trust the Dathomirian and Fennec too. The duo having forgone the imperial bounty and agreeing on returning Omega back to her family. Which in itself was a sing of trust. Right?
They landed on the remote planet, Echo and Crosshair already standing outside the ship waiting for the arrivals.
Both troopers with their arms crossed and weapons at reach, the defence stance speaking volumes. Having picked up the comms from Omega they had abandoned their search for her only to be flying to intercept the ship carrying her immediately while Hunter and Wrecker had been farther away. The lot of them looking for the once again disappearing Omega. They were only too relived to get her back. Again.
Something of a pattern for sure. But then again, the actual revelation of whom Omega really was had been a surprise for the Batch. And besides, Rex knew Ventress. Had some, history with her from the war. The Captain having the team to thread lightly where the Dathomirian was concerned. But, they had wanted to get Omega back, and so here they two were. Prepped for the worst, hoping for the best.
The ship landed, Omega immediately leaping out and rushing to her brothers and Batcher, the reunion truly a happy one.
“We were so worried about you.” Echo squeezed the Kid in his arms.
“I’m okay Echo.” Omega assured the Arc.
“You sure?” Crosshair glared suspiciously at the other two having arrived with Omega, the bounty hunters he really did not trust. At all.
“I’m fine Crosshair. They’re … on our side.” Omega said it louder so the ladies some distance away could hear her, getting only nods in response from them in agreement.
“If you’re sure…” Echo started, waiting for Omega to confirm.
“ I am. Ventress has promised to help me. Ya know, with my, um, training.”
”So, the Force eh.” It wasn’t really a question, they had all heard Omega’s comms. Several times to be exact.
”Yeah, the Force.”
Fennec and Ventress had been observing the clones interaction. Paying especially attention to Crosshair. Ventress was quiet for a long moment, keeping up on her observation of the sniper clone for whatever reason.
A moment later, after some hushed conversation having happened between Omega, Echo and Crosshair, they all turned to look at the bounty hunters still patiently standing there, keeping their distance.
“Wot?” Fennec asked half venomously.
“You really are on our side now?” Echo was the one asking the question.
“We are.” Ventress responded for them both without hesitation. She then stepped closer, closer to, Crosshair. Standing in front of the sniper, staring into his eyes. Tilting her head, concentrating with her glare before she spoke again. “You…”
“Yes?” Crosshair drawled.
Ventress squinted her eyes further.“You have the gift too.”
Omega and echo both turned to look at Crosshair. The sniper simply shaking his head in total disbelief. Thinking this was one of those mind tricks he had heard so much about.
“Is it even possible?” Echo was the first to react though.
“It is.” Ventress assured him. “You’re not the first clones I’ve met who can wield the Force.”
Ventress wasn’t going into too much in detail about whom and how she knew of them. But, Omega and Crosshair possessing the Force and her to find them… well, it was a Force sent. As Ventress wasn’t exactly the bounty hunter she had claimed to be, rather on a mission in collecting Force sensitives around the galaxy and herding them to safety thought the Path created by the remaining Jedi. One in particular she was helping to do this.
And these two, were powerful that much Ventress had felt from them. Even the sniper.
“ I could train you two, fast too.” Ventress knew they could easily be of help to her and others like them with some targeted training. The two able to master the Force in no time for sure.
“Why don’t we take a break for now. Sleep on it.” Echo knew this wasn’t something to be decided on the spot. He was sure Hunter and Rex would want to have their say in this all too.
Crosshair glanced at Echo, nodding only in agreement.
“Of course.” Ventress yielded easily enough, having expected as much.
“What if we go to a neutral place, have a meet up with the others, our people. Lay out everything on the table and make a solid plan.” Echo suggested then.
Fennec was about to object but she was working for Ventress now, so stopping Fennec mid sentence before she had her say. As Ventress did not want to lose this opportunity for all the credits in the galaxy.
“That, would be a very wise and acceptable course of action.” Ventress merely stated.
“Good, good. Lemme make a few calls and let’s go from there.”
Echo stepped back into the ship, the rest of them hanging around the landing area, making small talk as they did. Well Omega and Ventress were doing most of the talking while the other two simply hung around. That was until Fennec noticed Crosshair’s rifle.
“That yours?” It was a stupid question really, as Fennec knew the Bad Batch well from her files.
“It is.”
“May I?”
“Be my guest.”
Fennec picked up the riffle, touching and looking at it. Taking a look through the scope and soon enough, without realising it, the two snipers got into talking about the weapons they used while Omega and Ventress’ discussion revolved around the Force and other Force wielders Ventress knew.
Echo emerged after a some time. Having made the calls.
“Okay. Rex has extended an invitation for you two to join in our closest base to discuss our… um… partnership.”
“Alrighty then, we better get moving then.”
After all, this alliance of sorts would be beneficial for both parties involved, that much they all knew and trusted to be the case.
