Chapter Text
“Being a Force sensitive is more than standing around with a piece of fruit in your head on one leg or throwing heavy rocks around in circles around you. It’s about the control of your inner essence, your very being in touch with… everything.”
Ventress certainly loved to lecture Omega about the Force. But the Kid did not mind it one bit.
As this wasn’t Omega’s first round, first training session with the non-Jedi nor would it be the last. Something of a promise, albeit a reluctant one, but a promise none the less made by Ventress to Omega. After some pressuring by the Kid true, but Ventress was fully on board now.
Omega on her part was certainly soaking in everything Ventress had to offer her. And despite the rather elusive Dathomirian, almost as non-speaking as Crosshair was, Omega still able to read between the lines. The words not spoken speaking volumes to the sensitive child. The two having formed a sort of a bond which was growing stronger the more they trained together. Not exactly a master and apprentice relationship but close to it. Ventress never the one for labels.
“You have learnt the meditation part. Which is good, but not perfect. Now use that same knowledge you have for that and apply it into reaching to the Force fully. Truly letting yourself go.” Ventress had sensed something of a reluctance in the girl for not wanting to fully embrace her abilities, perhaps some doubt in her mind preventing it, that Omega felt she wasn’t good enough. Whatever it was, Ventress wanted those feelings lifted.
“I, am trying.” Omega defended herself. But she too knew, she was holding back. Being slightly scared of this, overwhelming force within her, which was the Force.
“Try, then do.” Ventress urged her.
Omega closed her eyes again and concentrated. Taking all the advice Ventress had given her into her heart and mind. Fully embracing the Force. Or at least, trying to.
There were always eyes on the two however.
Crosshair not as trusting as Omega was. The sniper always having an observant and watchful eye on the duo training a short distance away from them. Making sure there was no funny business going on with the former Sith assassin and whatever her new role in the galaxy might just be now. As so far what they had learnt from Fennec, the more talkative of the duo, Ventress was no longer a bounty hunter either. So, whatever Ventress was now? Well, she certainly had taken a keen interest in her new mentee despite her initial reluctance for taking part in Omega’s training. Even after having shown Omega the ropes in the very beginning.
They had travelled some distance in Fennec’s ship by now. Hunter having reluctantly let the two go on this trip. Omega and Crosshair. Hunter trusted Crosshair would keep Omega safe though and so here they were, travelling in hyperspace on Fennec’s ship. And the reasons for this little outing were quite clear as well. Their target location that of an abandoned Kaminoan facility on the other end of the galaxy. Somewhere where they would hopefully find some answers to Omega’s origins and possibly related information to the goings on Mount Tantiss. The dreaded M-count testing among other things. Even if this whole trip might just have been a long shot with the intel of this facility having come though several sources and Echo having parsed it all together, it was well worth their while.
And so on their way the small team now was.
The time spent in meditation and training. Crosshair taking part in the meditation, his own healing process still in mid stride, but having to admit even out loud, the process started with Omega had helped him. Immensely so. Crosshair feeling more at peace with himself than he had done in, well, ever. The process may have started with Omega, but Crosshair was doing pretty well keeping the meditation going on of his own pace. As Omega’s time was now spent on other things. Learning the Force and all. Or at least, that was the goal as Omega was still a far cry away from her actually being able to wield the Force.
“I am doing it. Just like you said.”
Omega opened her eyes, having lost the control some time ago, finding it difficult to concentrate, sometimes. Mostly though, it came to her naturally. More so after having learnt new tricks from Ventress.
“But can’t we take a break? We’ve been at it for the better part of the rotation.”
Sometimes, just sometimes, Omega behaved like a teenager, which she totally was. But not being able to learn things as fast as she would have liked to, the whiny child inside of her took centre stage. Hormones!
“Omega…”
Ventress let out a heavy sigh. She did not feel she was made for the tutorship, never really having had a padawan or any kind of trainee really. Not really having much of a childhood herself either, having to grow up really fast. Well, it wasn’t easy to put herself in Omega’s shoes either. But, this little clone… well, she was certainly a handful. But in a good way. And Ventress, well, she was starting to like this job she had taken on without too much consideration. And if she was totally honest, Omega was starting to grow on her a swell.
“If you want to learn anything about the Force, become a wielder of any kind, you need to put in the effort.”
“I know, and I am… sorry. But could we just take a break.” Omega was fidgeting, getting antsy even. “I mean there is plenty of time before we even reach the star system and well, I would really want to check up on Crosshair.”
It was an excuse if any, as the surly sniper had kept a keen eye on her during the trip over. So Crosshair, being totally fine himself.
Ventress rolled her eyes once again. Her having full well felt the eyes on her person during the trip so far. But, Ventress too was good for a break. And so.
“Fine Omega. We will stop for now. But…” She had a warning tone to her voice. “After the break, we start out fresh again so make sure to get some rest as well as nutritions.”
“Thanks Ventress!”
Omega jumped at the unsuspecting Ventress, hugging her tightly. Ventress had little choice but to give Omega a brief hug back. This was really taking some getting used to for the surely former plenty of trades.
“I’ll see you in the morning.”
Omega was off to find Crosshair, the rather large size ship of Fennec’s giving each passenger their own little nook to hide in when the companionship of the others got a bit too much. But then Crosshair always was close by Omega, the task hardly a difficult one.
“See you later Child!”
Ventress wished her a good rest, taking a quick look around before retreating to her own little space on the ship. Glad for the brief respite just the same. As this was taking a toll on the mentor as well, clearly.
