It was after they just finished patrolling the street. They had a pretty good route and didn’t deal with too many dumbasses trying to cause mayhem.
Leo know not to complain since it was rare but it was a hard day for him.
Today was the 5th anniversary of Spinter’s death and it took a toll on all of them. They each had their own way of coping; Mikey by baking with Renet and Leatherhead; Don by creating experimenting with liquids that seemed to mirror flowers that Splinter taught them about when they were children(something so silly meant so much to the brothers). Ralph had spent some time at Splinter’s memorial and seemed to just quietly talk with splinter, wherever he was at. It was a shock for Leo but he understood his brother needed something non-violent for once.
As for Leo himself, he found mediation and patrolling gave him a chance to mourn. He was with Casey who understood what Leo needed. It made sense considering their relationship together. They had been boyfriends for last two years and hones, it was strange at first for both. Leo had fallen for a guy who was his brother’s best friend and was an impulsive idiot at times. But Casey understood his grief of losing his father and wanting to get away from it, after all Casey had been lost his father due to the first KRANNG invasion and he understood the need to bury himself.
It wasn’t easy for either but they were able to understand each other and things slowly blossomed for the two. Casey had taught Leo about hockey despite Leo difficulty understanding it and introduced Leo to more punk bands. Casey let him try an energy drink, which all in a bad idea but a fun experience for Leo. In turn, Leo taught Casey meditation and its techniques and explained Space Hero’s to him.
Casey never fully understood but he tried to just like Leo did and so they just started to rant to each other more about plays, theories and finding more shows to watch together. They had realized they liked the close proximity of each other and soon began to be near each other more whenever they hung out. It confused Leo’s brothers at first but it seemed likely all picked it up after a cuddling session one day.
Finally it all came to a stop when they were fighting the purple dragons. They were all fighting until they heard a scream of pain.
It turned out to be Leo, who had his bad knee targeted out of spite by one of the purple dragons lackeys. All Casey knew was he saw red and nearly beaten the guy to a bloody pulp until Lei and Ralph were able to calm him down.
It wasn’t until afterwards, did Leo and Casey exchange words, or in their case, a kiss. It had been Leo’s first kiss and it was messt, emotional and worst of all, his brothers were in the other room but it didn’t matter to either of them. All they knew was they wanted each other and now finally, they were together.
Now at the current point, after finishing their route, Leo and Casey just laid together on top of their bed just holding each other.
“What are you thinking about Blue?”
Casey asked his partner, noticing Leo to daydreaming.
“ just how we got together. Do you think Splinter would accept us together? “
“Of course he would. I bet he is watching us now and is happy that you’re doing well and helping innocent people out. It’s gonna be okay love”
Leo smiled at his love and his ability to calm his nerves.
“Thank you . Now hold me jones and let’s go to sleep”
“ alright bossy. Goodnight I love you”
“ I’m not bossy, just specific about certain things. I love you too” and so with that, the young couple snuggled and cuddled while Splinter and Tang Shen’s ghost watched from afar. They were happy their little family was doing well and so they left to check on their daughter and make sure she was doing well as clan leader.
