"The spider haunts Dick in his dreams, an unwanted visitor on his doorstep in his cerebrum he’s learnt to accept. She fills him with toxin, and continues to pump him with more, until he can’t take it. She makes him want to gut himself, from the inside; but this spider paralyzes her victims. It’s intoxicating. Everytime it happens, he can’t will himself to do anything. She's done something to him– something akin to breaking a mirror and smashing it with a hammer, over and over, little fragments of a twisted reality remain. It's the shards that are left."
