Soft April 2024 - Alt 4: Vacation

Summary:

Rose, Mickey, Shareen, and Keisha go on holiday together

Notes:

Yeah I dunno what this is. I've only ever watched the main show and briefly read through Rose's wiki. Characterisations are awful
I am mildly dyslexic
Still! Enjoy

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Mickey's car really wasn't meant to hold four people and their luggage for a week away in the countryside. Technically it could fit all of them, but well it was a bit of a tight fit. Mickey was driving, it was his car and he was the only one with a license. Keisha was up front, sorting through their music for the drive, the cd folder in her lap. Rose and Shareen were sharing the back, and while they were both wearing the seatbelts, they had ended up in odd positions with their legs tangled in the middle.

Keisha and Shareen were loudly singing along to the music they'd picked out together, Mickey looked ready to pull over and kick them out, and Rose was trying for a new high score in snake. They'd found a cottage to stay in in the middle of nowhere on a farm. Mickey liked it because it had a games room. It had been a little shady, but they were mostly certain it was real.

"Hey, worst mistake you ever made," Keisha asked. Rose snorted, hers was obvious already.

"Trusting Jimmy," Rose said.

"Talking to my cousin anytime she calls," Shareen said. "She's odd, and her job is super secretive so she always talks vaguely about it."

"That time I got drunk out of my mind and made out with that guy three doors down," Mickey said. Rose started laughing and he flipped her off. "It's awkward any time I see him."

"Come on Keish, what's your one?" Rose asked, grinning at her.

"I don't know," she said, leaning back. "Going on that date with that guy from the pub maybe?"

"Nah," Shareen said. "Sneaking into that club at fifteen and dragging me and Rose with you. You got drunk out your mind, and I'm pretty sure you got high too." Keisha flipped her off.

The car ride continued on like that. Random questions interrupting bad renditions of songs they loved. Eventually though they pulled up to the farm. Mickey and Shareen went to get to the keys from the owner, and Rose and Keisha started getting the bags out of the car. They returned quickly, actually with the keys, and Mickey helped with the bags while Shareen let them in.

There were actually the four beds they had been told there were. Mickey got the biggest room, mostly because he was the one driving. The smallest room went to Keisha, she drew the shortest straw. The beds were all the same size, but some were firmer than others.

"Relaxation day," Mickey declared, dropping onto the sofa.

"Isn't every day a relaxation day here?" Rose asked. Mickey shrugged.

"We have a couple plans," Shareen said. "But for the most part we're just relaxing away from everything."

"We're on holiday," Keisha said, "we're not doing anything stressful."

"We do need food though," Rose pointed out. Mickey groaned. Shareen was stood by the window looking through a pile of leaflets and things the owner had piled up for them.

"The chinese place delivers here," she announced after a moment. "There's also a forest adventure thing not that far from here."

"Sounds more fun than a museum," Rose said.

"We're doing everything we can," Shareen said. "But first figure out what we want for dinner."

Rose stood and grabbed the menu from her. Eventually the four of them decided on what to order, and Keisha did the call. They payed for their own food, it was smarter that way. They didn't bother with plates, instead ate from the containers. Mickey put the tv on and flipped through the channels until they were bored. There wasn't really anything good on. It was a decent start to a week away.
