Rose wasn't going back to that planet. It was not human friendly. The Doctor shook his head at her as he sat her on a bed in the medbay. She sneezed and he laughed at her.
"I told you to be careful," he said.
"This isn't an injury Doctor, this is an illness," she complained. The Doctor rolled his yes, but he smiled at her. Rose glared at him and he grinned back.
"You'll be fine in a twenty four hours," the Doctor said, pulling the needle away.
"We're watching movies in the meantime, with chips, and you can't complain," Rose said.
The Doctor sighed and nodded, he wasn't exactly willing to argue with Rose most days but especially not when she was sick. He scanned her with the sonic just to double check that the medication was setting into her system, and then let her get off the bed.
"You go to one of the projector rooms, and I'll go buy some chips," he said.
"Do you have a VCR anywhere?" she asked, following him out of the medbay and into the console room. The Doctor shrugged, then paused.
"I have the highest quality projection screens and holo-tvs, and you want junk?" the Doctor asked.
"It's not junk! It's my childhood, and they're brilliant," Rose defended. He rolled his eyes at her, accompanied by a shake of the head. Rose was rather tempted to flip him off.
"Fine, the Tardis will lead you to a movie room with a VCR," he said.
"Thank you," she said, smiling at him. A corridor lit up and Rose walked over to it. The Doctor watched her go, wondering when he'd gotten so protective of her and when he started letting her win things like that so easily. He didn't mind it, not really. Rose's smile was always worth it in the end.
The Tardis went smoothly for a change, happy to land right beside Rose's favourite chip shop. He made sure he had the money before he left the ship, not wanting to cause any problems. Rose had paid for their first chips, he'd paid for most of them since then. He didn't mind it.
Rose was lead to a nice looking living room, set with a comfy sofa, two comfy looking armchairs, a pile of blankets, and a VCR just like she had wanted. There were a collection of VHS tapes by the coffee table, and a lot were favourite Disney movies of hers.
From the pile Rose pulled out the Black Cauldron. Perhaps an odd choice of comfort movie, but she liked it and it was fun if a little odd. She slipped it into the player and paused before anything started up. Half the joy in a VHS tape was the out of date adds and things before the movie.
When the Doctor found her, chips in hand, he was unsurprised to find her sat on the sofa with a movie waiting for him. She pressed play from the remote as he settled onto the sofa next to her. Rose took her chips and leant into him, and he didn't complain. Why would he? It was Rose, and she was sick. More importantly though, she was comfortable like that.
"What are we watching?" he asked.
"Black Cauldron," she said, "then Robin Hood, and maybe the Sword in the Stone after."
"Sounds like a plan," the Doctor agreed.
The chips got eaten quickly, and once they were gone there was nothing stopping the pair of them from lying on the sofa. They eventually found themselves cuddled up, with a blanket draped over them, the ending to the Black Cauldron playing. Neither of them wanted to move. Rose was half asleep and the Doctor's hand moving through her hair wasn't helping. The Doctor was just happy curled up with Rose. It was nice, and Rose wasn't in a rush to point out just how romantic and domestic it felt.
