Chapter Text
Kaoru liked to consider himself a patient person.
Okay, well, patient wasn’t quite the word. It was more so that he couldn’t bring himself to care enough about the things that annoyed him to bother ever acting on them, giving the illusion of patience.
“Babeeeee,” Adachi whined out like a toddler that had just knocked over his milk bottle. Kaoru’s eyebrow twitched. “I just lost at Krunker.”
But good lord. Tohru Adachi tested that patience like no one else.
“What the fuck is Krunker.” His statement wasn’t a question at all, as he did not give a singular fuck about ‘Krunker’ and just wanted Adachi to stop using his work computer for it and come hold him. He had a feeling that Adachi would take it as a question anyway, though.
“Krunker Strike, duh!” He spoke as if this was something Kaoru was supposed to know. He very clearly did not, and still didn’t care. Unfortunately for him, Adachi took it upon himself to explain. “It’s Discord’s new FPS game. It’s super fun, but my team just got completely annihilated by someone named ‘maleimpregnator69’” The way Adachi said this with complete sincerity made Kaoru laugh loud enough to nearly choke on his spit. Apparently, that was the incorrect response. “Wow. You’re laughing. I just got killed by male impregnator and you’re laughing.”
“Of course I’m fucking laughing, ‘Dachi.” He wasn’t laughing anymore, upon realizing that Adachi was genuinely fucking upset about male impregnator. Because of course he was. “You’re lucky I’m laughing and not kicking you out of my damn house. I invited you here to drink and you’re about to make my work laptop explode from Konker Stri—”
“ KRUNKER!” He corrected, way more aggressively than he needed to. Kaoru saw his mouse cursor hovering over the ‘start game’ button, and quickly moved to shut his laptop.
“No more Krunker.” He felt like he was speaking to an out of control toddler. God, why couldn’t he have fallen in love with Dojima instead. He bet Dojima didn’t play Krunker and eat Tyson’s Dino chicken nuggets for dinner every night.
“…Fine.” Adachi agreed, surprisingly enough. He yawned and stretched his arms out before looking up at Kaoru, pleading. “I need my post-Krunking nap anyway.”
“What.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He stood up from Kaoru’s office chair and took off his headphones that he hadn’t even noticed Adachi had borrowed. He had a feeling that, somehow, they would be broken the next time he had to use them. “I’ll be up in an hour.”
“You just got here,” he complained, eye twitching once again. “You can’t come over to my house, steal my laptop, and then pass out. We haven’t even drank yet.”
“But babeeeee…” He was giving him those stupid damn puppy dog eyes again. Kaoru couldn’t bring himself to look away. “We can cuddle.”
“…Fine.” Kaoru agreed faster than he probably should have. Even if he didn’t have an insatiable, unexplainable urge to hold Adachi in his arms, having him be asleep at least meant no more Krunking. And he would take that over drinking any day.
“Yay!!!!” Adachi extended his arms into the air excitedly. Kaoru chuckled despite himself. The two of them laid down in Kaoru’s bed—covered in file cases and notebooks that they haphazardly set aside—and bundled themselves underneath the covers. Kaoru instinctively wrapped his arms around Adachi, keeping them loosely around his waist.
“You have one hour,” he warned, though, realistically, he knew they would both end up waking up well past sunset. He didn’t care all that much, so long it was Adachi he was sleeping with.
“My krunknaps are very well timed!” Kaoru had no idea what the hell that was supposed to mean, but he seemed very confident in it. So he decided to trust him. “Night, Kao.” He yawned, adjusting himself so that he was as close to Kaoru as possible. He was suddenly glad that Adachi was facing away from him, just so that he couldn’t make fun of the tiny red tint that stretched across his face against his will.
“Night, ‘Dachi.”
