Summary
Rey escaped from Jakku with Finn but had no intention of joining the Resistance. Finn's attempt was in vain, for Rey did not think herself capable of joining a cause when she was already struggling to figure out her place in all of this.
When chaos erupts, she is mistaken for a Rebel and taken captive by the First Order. To her unpleasant surprise, the Master of the Knights of Ren has other plans for her upon discovering her connection to the Force.

“Where are you taking me?”
No answer.
“What is this about?” Rey pressed.
Again, nothing.
“Why do you always wear that helmet?” And without pausing, she added, “Is it because you're shy or just ugly?”
Kylo lowered his head slightly and spoke in a quieter, menacing voice, “If you value your life Scavenger, I suggest you be quiet.”
She took a mental note: mention the helmet again.
