Day 8: Lociet

Sometimes, you just need someone to turn to.

Work Text:

When Deceit had first shown up, Morality made it extremely clear that he was not welcome, excluding him from group discussions and becoming cold every time Deceit came into the room. Deceit got used to this behavior quickly, pretending not to be affected. Lying. The one thing he was good at, the one thing you could count on him to do. Lie. He was Deceit, after all.

But the truth was, Morality was his father figure, and being turned away really stung. Deceit sometimes caught himself crying, but made sure to leave no trace.

At least, that's what he thought. Logic noticed him coming downstairs for dinner with slightly red eyes on multiple occasions. Why he was in distress, Logic didn't know, but he knew it was persistent if this was a recurring issue.

One day, when Logic called him down, he got his answer.

"Deceit," Logic announced as he knocked on the lying trait's door. "Morality has requested that I summon you for dinner."

"Tell him I'm not hungry," Deceit replied in a voice that Logic could only describe as tear-choked. This concerned him.

"Deceit, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, go away!"

"You're lying, Deceit. Even I know that."

Silence.

"Deceit, may I come in?"

"N-no.."

Logan didn't care if that was a lie or not, he was going in. And he found Deceit curled up into a ball, the whites of his eyes stained red, presumably from overexertion of the tear gland.

“May I ask what is troubling you?”

Deceit frowned. “Just… Can I have a hug?”

An albeit confused Logic obliged, laying down next to the snake-like side and embracing him the way Morality sometimes would to Creativity. “Is this assisting you?”

“Yeah..” Deceit replied, returning the embrace. “Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.”

The two sides stayed like that for a while longer before Logic spoke up. “Deceit, may I ask what is troubling you?”

“Shouldn't it be obvious? I don't like Morality ignoring me!”

“I could speak with him, if you would like?”

“He won't listen…”

“If you insist.”

Another beat of silence.

“Hey, Logic?”

“Yes?”

“Thank you.”

“You are most welcome.”
