    Kipps gently nudges Lucy forward, and Lockwood closes the gap. She’s trapped between them, Kipps’ front against her back, and Lockwood’s torso against her chest.

    “I think we should offer her a little show before I take my leave,” Kipps murmurs to Lockwood. “Maybe she can join in if she feels like it.”

    “Only if she’s agreeable,” Lockwood says. “Luce? What do you think?”

    He’s certifiably insane if he thinks she’s going to say no to this.

    “I’m cool with it,” she manages to get out.
