Work Text:
“Let’s try something new,” Noah suggested to Yejun.
Yejun went wide eyed. “In what context do you mean? PLAVE, food places, relationship wise…the list can go on.”
“Clubbing.”
“No,” Yejun abruptly answered a question that wasn’t asked.
“Aw, come on,” Noah leaned back, head resting on Yejun’s lap, looking up at the other man. “Good music, maybe we can go to Itaewon, you can wear that tight shirt you bought that you never wear.”
Yejun rested his hands on either side of Noah’s face. “You cannot convince me.”
“Maybe if I say it like ‘I want to feel the beat against your body, humming along with the night sky's stars,” would you want to go?” Noah hummed, and got up to get his notebook. “Be right back.”
“It’s a good lyric,” Yejun chuckled.
“I love our dinners, I really do,” Noah placed the notebook on his desk, “but I want a little bit more. I want to have a different type of fun.” There was a small pause. “I want you to let loose. You’re pent up with all that leader energy.”
“I don't have pent up energy. It’s all left at the practice room.”
“...and you can get more out if you go to the club with me,” Noah smiled. “I know you’re more than just Grandpa Yejun. Be the 22 year old that you are.”
Yejun sighed. “Fine.”
“Yes!” Noah clapped in excitement. “You’re wearing that shirt too.”
“You’re obsessed with that shirt.”
“You look really good with it on,” Noah settled back onto the couch, this time bringing his legs onto Yejun’s lap.
“When do you want to go?”
“Tomorrow?”
“We’re scheduled.”
“After everything is done, it’s only eleven-thirty. We can leave right after.”
“If you haven’t figured it out, that is my bedtime.”
“Well, then have a coffee,” Noah winked, and Yejun playfully threw a pillow at him.
Noah waited outside of the elevator, scrolling on his phone.
“Do you want to go to the gym?” Hamin asked, and he put his backpack on his shoulder.
“Not tonight, the princess needs his beauty sleep,” Noah pocketed his phone.
“Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah, fine. Why?” Noah furrowed his eyebrows.
“Oh, I just thought that you sprained a muscle or something.”
“Just need to catch up on some sleep,” Noah cleared his throat.
“Oh, okay,” Hamin tugged at his jacket. “Let’s go tomorrow. I need a leg day.”
“Promises made, and promises will be kept.”
Yejun stepped out of the elevator. “Goodnight, Hamin. See you tomorrow.”
Hamin waved as he went through the door. Noah looked at Yejun.
“I see you are wearing the shirt,” Noah raised his eyebrow
“‘ The ’ shirt, like it’s some sort of prize at the fair. So where do we drop off our stuff, your place or mine?” Yejun asked.
“Mine, especially so you don’t make any excuses to lay down on that bed of yours. Wallets, phones, and that’s it.”
The streets were still busy when they got there. The lights were flashing, and people’s laughter filled the air.
“Which club are we going to?” Yejun asked, as they walked by the third door blasting thumping music. “Seems like we’re missing a lot.”
“That one, right there,” Noah pointed ahead.
“That’s a pretty big line. Seems popular?”
“Very, but anonymous.”
“We are anonymous.”
“Even better to get lost in the crowd,” Noah whispered into Yejun’s ear. They got past the bouncer and made their way to the bar. “Do you want a beer?”
“I can use one, yeah,” Yejun scratched his head.
“Are…are you nervous?” Noah asked while waving over a bartender.;
“Not really, per say…I feel like I haven’t let go in a while. Afraid I might mess up if I don’t keep on top of things.”
Noah leaned over to make sure Yejun heard him. “You’re allowed to make mistakes, or let yourself get loose. You take care of me, let me take care of you.”
“...and how are you going to do that?” Yejun smiled.
“You’ll find out,” Noah winked and turned his attention back to the bar. Two beers were brought out, and Noah and Yejun surveyed the club.
“This club seems different to the ones I used to go to in Hongdae,” Yejun looked closely.
“That’s because it’s a gay bar,” Noah took a swig of his beer.
“Oh!” Yejun shifted in his seat. “ How did you find this place?”
“I’ve been here before, but I don’t visit as often as I used to.”
“How long have you been going here?”
“How long have we been friends?” Noah smiled.
“Is that when you realized you were not straight?”
“Well, when I first saw you, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I didn’t know I was also attracted to men. Started coming here to find out.”
“...and what of it?” Yejun asked with full curiosity.
“Turns out, thinking everyone is attractive means you’re not actually straight,” Noah finished his beer. “Enough about me. Let’s go out on the dance floor.”
Yejun drank some more of his drink before pushing it aside. “Lead the way.”
The music was thumping throughout the club, and Noah pulled Yejun through the crowd to find the opportune spot to dance. The club was packed and it took about half a song to find a small opening - they quickly parked themselves before anyone else could take it. Noah splayed his hand across Yejun’s lower back and brought him closer as soon as he planted his feet.
“Do I have to teach you about house music?” Noah asked with a cheeky grin.
“I’m not a total shut-in, I have clubbed before. Plus house music is on my daily mixes.”
“Clubbing in college does not count.”
“It does so.”
“Then show me,” Noah said as he got closer - hip against hip. Yejun recognized the next song. Heavy beat, less words. Music he was able to get lost in. He swayed his body to the beat, and Noah pulled him in by the hem of his shirt. They moved together feeling as though they were one.
Yejun’s hair covered his eyes, looking slightly down at the other man, but Noah instantly swiped the blue hair away. Yejun’s hand gravitated towards Noah’s ass and heard him gasp slightly. Yejun grinned. He liked making sure Noah was reminded that this was more than a brief kiss. It was something deeper. They kept dancing, changing positions - hand or body wise - every so often. Noah and Yejun laughed at times at some of the songs that were chosen.
“I know you know the choreography for this song. You did it once,” Noah yelled over the music.
“...and you’ll never see me do it again, no matter how many times I practiced it,” Yejun yelled back, but smiled.
“It’s nice to see your smile,” Noah placed his hands on Yejun’s shoulder and leaned in to talk into his ear.
“It’s nice to smile,” Yejun said, and pulled Noah close once more, bodies pressing up against each other.
Both Yejun and Noah felt free. Free from work, free from hiding, free from themselves.
“Do you want to go back to my place?” Noah asked as one of the songs wound down.
“Didn’t we just get here?” Yejun asked in place of a yes or no.
“It’s been three hours.”
“Three?!” Yejun replied. “It’s like, what, around two-thirty then, right?”
Noah showed Yejun his phone. “Three in the morning, actually.”
“We gotta go,” Yejun started his way to the bar to pay the tab.
“Had so much fun time flew by,” Noah smiled, “and you didn’t even want to leave your house.”
“I’ll admit this was fun. Being close to you is even better,” Yejun winked.
“There’s the man that I know.”
“Just sleep over,” Noah watched Yejun put on his jacket. “The subway is not even running at this time.”
“I’ll just take a taxi,” Yejun smiled. “I’m meeting Hamin for breakfast before we do some extra practicing.”
“You should just leave clothes here, and I can leave some at your place.”
“Not after Eunho recognized your workout pants,” Yejun brought up the incident. “Plus, we don’t sleep at each other’s places that much. We usually leave by 11.”
“Can we change that?” Noah put the thought out in the open.
“Tempting,” Yejun slipped his shoes on.
“Sleep at my place. Just sleep. We don’t have to do anything else,” Noah said, feeling dejected.
“If I didn’t have plans where I am hiding a relationship with someone, I would.”
“Fine. Next time we have a date night, can you sleep over? I really enjoy it. It’s just us. Together.”
“Absolutely, next time let’s do that.”
“...and the best boyfriend award goes to you,” Noah said, his mouth running before his brain could catch up.
“Boyfriend?” Yejun smiled, and rolled on his feet. “I like the sound of that.”
