Chapter Text
Bucks POV
A date with a dude doesn’t have to be hard, doesn't it? I mean, it’s just like dating a girl but with the opposite sex, so why am I so damn nervous?!
Buck's thoughts eat him alive until the bell door rings
- “Hey, you look good; are you ready?” Says Tommy with a smile, devouring his whole body with his eyes
-"Yeah, hey, come inside, I will search my jacket, and we can go,” Says Buck while thinking that maybe calling Hen would’ve prevented his obvious nervousness
- “So, are you into Italian food? A friend of mine recommended me this Italian restaurant near here, and yes, there’s beer, so we will be safe” Says Tommy while waiting for Buck
- Yes! I’d love Italian,” Says Buck, coming back to the living room. "Alright let’s go”
After that, Tommy and I got out of the loft, got in Tommy's car, and spent twelve minutes in silence of travel where the only thing I could think about was “Please don’t open my door, please don’t open my door,” and of course, he didn’t open my door because we aren’t in 1950! I kept thinking about that until Tommy talked and made me notice that we had arrived at the place. And of course, Tommy didn't open my door because I didn't want to become a fucking princess. Maybe I'm overthinking.
- “Hi sirs, do you have a reservation?” A nice lady at the entrance of the restaurant says
- "Yeah, for Kinard"
The lady looked at the list, and then she made a sign for following her and showed our table, I don’t think that I hid how tense I was, but I was hoping that after some beers I would lose all the tension.
- “What would you like to order? I’ve heard pizza is great here”
- ”I feel like eating pizza, I’ve seen a lot of videos about how it was created you know, that discovery in 1889 had to be something”
- “Yeah? Does a date with a man come with a package that includes fun facts?”
- “It does, but if it becomes kind of exhausting, please tell me.”
Tommy just laughed at that response, making Buck think, "Alright, Buckley, you already ruined your date”. They leave the theme and order pizza and beers, a combo that Buck is used to eating in Eddie's house.
- “Alright, Evan, tell me about you, but first, I would love to know why you call yourself Buck. I bet this question has to be tiring; the people you meet must ask you this every time”
- “Yeah, I cannot lie to you. I’m tired of that question but because I want another kiss of you I will answer,” Says Buck but immediately regret it because he didn’t have to know he was horny for god’s sake
- “Aw, you’re cute when you’re horny, and yes, this date is ending with a kiss goodbye, so don’t worry,” Says Tommy laughing
- “Oh my god,” Says Buck, hiding his face in his hand. "Well, answering your question, there was a lot of Evan in my class, so they started calling me Buckley which ended up with the birth of the beloved abbreviation “Buck”, the one my parents hate.”
Before Tommy could answer, the beer and food came, and they started chatting about casual things, they talked about their favorite movies, making Tommy mad at Buck for a while because he never saw “love actually”
"You know, I would never have believed you’re not the kind of guy who sees “Love, Actually” or “The Holiday” every Christmas Eve, I mean, what kind of man are you????
- “I often don’t see movies, only the ones that Chris wants to see. Would you judge me if I told you my favorite movie is a Disney one?”
- “It wouldn’t surprise me. It's nice how you love that kid. Tommy says this while drinking a sip of beer.
- He’s great, I developed a connection with him after the tsunami; we were at the pier when it happened, and we were a great team. He isn’t hard to love either; he’s now a teenager, but when I met him, he was (and still is) the sweetest boy. Eddie is a great dad to him,” Says Buck, eating his pizza with a big smile because that pizza was damn good.
- “They both are special to you, aren’t they?” Tommy asks, knowing what the answer will be
- “Yeah, Eddie you know he’s my best friend; he’ll have my back and I will have his, it’s our deal,” Says Buck with a smile
- “I see, well, Eddie is a great guy, and also his son, but the only time I was with him, I only heard about “buck buck buck” so I don’t know anything about him,” Says Tommy, making Buck laugh. "You know, maybe we should take this conversation to your apartment or mine; I don’t know, I mean only if you want to”
- “Oh, yeah, sure, let’s go. I have to tell you, I had a great time.”
- “Well, I can see you’re a little tense”
- “It was my first date with a dude, but I’m trying to not weird you out,” Says Buck with a nervous smile, and when it looked like Tommy was going to say something, the expression on his face changed, and he heard that voice
- Tommy!
- Eddie!
It was everything he could hear, until
- “Buck!” Says Eddie, yelling as if he wants the whole state to know he was with a man in a restaurant. “You two are here together!”
Buck didn't know how to answer, so he just nodded his head and said hi to Marisol and his friend.
- “Yeah, after we talked properly, I promised to teach him how the helicopters work, so we were on that, and then it was dinner time, so here we are; what about you? Romantic date, isn't it?" Tommy says, not wanting to come out to Buck like that to his friend.
- “Yes, Chris is in a sleepover, so we wanted to eat outside,” Says Eddie noticing how Buck hadn't said a word yet and seeing how his face had turned to a worried expression with a lot of fear
- “We’ll sit in another place; enjoy your dinner!” Marisol says, knowing that Eddie probably wanted to sit with them.
- “Oh, sure, see you, Eddie.” Says Buck for the first time
- “Buck, we could leave if that’s what you want; no hard feelings,” Says Tommy, probably noticing his discomfort.
- “No, it’s okay, we are having such a good time, and we also have a whole jar of beer; we can’t waste it!" I said to Tommy, who in response just smiled and took the recipe for pay "Wait, I thought I was the one owing you a beer, give me that”
- “I will pay this time; you can pay the next one,” Says Tommy, blinking his eyes and making Buck blush
- “So there’s going to be a next time?" Says a blushing Buck
- “I hope it is”
