With a sigh, Hitoshi watched as his breath even froze in the weather. "There a reason you came out here? Or." He asked while Denki leaned on the railing, looking at his purple haired boyfriend as he tried to think of a reply to answer his question that was spoken with little to no care.

This is a small, cute idea I had and I hope those of you who read this like it! 🫶

Work Text:

The light shown from the sky as the sun came up, only to be blocked with clouds that were filled of snow, ready to cause another snowstorm.

"What are you doing out in the cold hot stuff?" A voice snapped the other away from his thoughts as purple eyes barley glanced over at his flirty boyfriend who stepped outside on the balcony of their small, old apartment that had many problems when it came to the electricity with a shiver from the sudden blast of cold air.

Hitoshi huffed a laugh when seeing the golden eyes widen for a moment at the freezing weather. "I'd ask you the same thing." He told with a knowing smile at Denki, who only wore a hoodie -His hoodie- to keep him warm in such cold weather that could cause him to catch a cold if he stayed outside long enough.

Hitoshi eyed his boyfriends' legs that were decorated with goosebumps as the sudden gust of wind didn't help warm them. His pajama shorts did nothing for warmth, but he supposes it's something at least.

With a sigh, Hitoshi watched as his breath even froze in the weather. "There a reason you came out here? Or." He asked while Denki leaned on the railing, looking at his purple haired boyfriend as he tried to think of a reply to answer his question that was spoken with little to no care.

"I just wanted to see what my favorite person was doing." Denki told as a smug smile made it's way onto his lips. Hitoshi would never admit this to his boyfriend, but his words of flattery caused butterfly's to swarm in his stomach. He already has in their early days of dating, being the cheesy couple they were. The thought of the way he used to tell Denki how his "words make my heart pound," always left Hitoshi to cringe.

With an eye roll, Hitoshi looked down from under them, watching cars pass by to go work or get their kids to school. If there even was school in such a snowstorm like this one.

Silence consumed the two as they watched over small parts of people's day, some walking, some driving. It was noisy, though not enough to give them a headache and complain how it would probably benefit them to move somewhere else, just for them to stay put in their shitty apartment they got, as it was the cheapest option.

Denki shivered by the cold once more but didn't move in his place, only nearing closer to Hitoshi to gain better warmth. He hummed in satisfaction even if the body warmth of his boyfriend did so little. Hitoshi didn't speak a word about. Only giving his boyfriend a lazy glance.

A moment of silence, of clarity was nice, but Hitoshi couldn't let his boyfriend get sick once more. "Come on, let's get you inside. Can't trust your immune system after you told how fine you would be with just a jacket and scarf." With his tone tired, his words slipped passed his lips lazily as he walked back inside, not bothering to look behind himself, knowing Denki would be right behind him.

Inside was thankfully warm. Their room heaters struggled to keep the small apartment warm. They didn't have much home decor around. Unless hanging up printed out pictures with tape counted. The room heaters made such a noisy sound when they were on, though Hitoshi didn't miss the sound and smell of coffee brewing.

"Wow, cheap ass coffee just for me? You shouldn't have." Hitoshi said, his tone dripping with fake appreciation.

The sound of the balcony door closing was heard as well as a snort from the other. "It'd be a crime not to make you your cheap ass coffee in the morning." Denki told with a laugh. Hitoshi went over to grab a mug, looking at the only two mugs they owned. With a sigh, he poured the beverage and watched as the coffee looked darker in the simple black mug.

The bitter taste hit his tongue with force as there was little to no sweetness inside. He looked over at the blond who stared at him with a scrunched up nose as he watched his boyfriend consume the hot beverage he held in his hands.

"I will never understand how you drink that crap." Denki's words made Hitoshi smirk in his own amusement, swallowing down another gulp of said crap. "Well, you are the one who prepared this crap." Hitoshi told, though he didn't mind the drink. It was almost comforting to him.

All Denki did was shrug, but the expression of distaste stayed on his features as he rested his elbows on the small kitchen island. Hitoshi watched golden eyes move around. Looking for something new to see, but they didn't find anything except for the cobwebs in the corner of the ceiling.

The two didn't have much, but they had enough. Their friends and families hardly even knew of their financial struggles. They had their own things to worry about, as some of their friends were planning to have a family while Denki and Hitoshi were a broke couple fresh out of college with jobs that were run by cheapskates, yet it was the only job they could get for the time being.

With a yawn, Denki walked off to what Hitoshi assumed was their bedroom to finish getting ready for the day. Hitoshi has been ready sense the early morning when the sun wasn't even out. He woke up with Denki fast asleep and cuddled into his side for extra warmth. It was quite the struggle for Hitoshi to get up from their position and his will to not want to.

Violet eyes looked around the apartment as they often did. Observing every crack and flaw from the floors to the ceiling. The building could collapse if it wished, killing everyone in it. It could be day or night, though Hitoshi would rather it be night so his last moments could be with the person he loved most while they sleep and are oblivious to the building that would crumble down.

It wasn't uncommon for Hitoshi to have these thoughts. All he wished in life was to live with the one person that made any place feel like home and die a peaceful death. Though the thoughts were dark, they were true.

Hitoshi found himself reflecting more than once. He found it more common for him to be contemplative when the two of them had a day off where they just stayed home. When they had no plans and took the day to bask in each other's presence.

"You're doing that space out thing again" Denki suddenly spoke, making Hitoshi look his way. The blond was done getting ready as his hair was more tamed, and he wore different clothing. "What are you thinking about?" His question was reasonable, it wasn't the first, nor last time Hitoshi had stayed in the endless void that was considered his mind.

"Nothing much." Was his usual response, and the response he will say until maybe one day when they'll both be old and slowly dying.

With a wandering mind like Denki's, he went from one topic to the next in just a few minutes of silence. "So, do you wanna go do something?" He asked. His tone was playful, maybe even a little teasing. Hitoshi only raised an eyebrow, taking another small sip of the beverage that hardly cooled down. "Maybe even like, go on a date perhaps." Denki stated, winking to his boyfriend as he leaned on the kitchen counter as a flirtatious smirk came upon his lips.

"Hmm.." Hitoshi hummed. "No, I'd rather use my money to buy some more of that shitty coffee my roommate gave me only minutes ago." Hitoshi's smile was smug while Denki's facial expression was an over the top version of pure betrayal.

"I have never been more offended in my whole entire life." Denki told. Hitoshi didn't miss the glare he shot at him, though they both knew it was all for playful banter that they would mention later, only to laugh at the memory as they many times when it came to their earlier days of dating one another. Even if half of what they did back done know left them both to cringe at themselves, they still got a good laugh out of it.

They looked at each other for a moment until they both couldn't help but laugh. Their small fit of laughter filled the quiet room with noise until it faded and the two smiled at each other until the bright blond headed boy went more towards what they called the living room, even if had a shitty Tv and an old looking couch that was surprisingly comfortable regardless of its  patched up appearance.

The blond flopped onto the couch with no care as it creaked from the sudden weight. He didn't bother to even glimpse to see the look that Hitoshi gave him. A silent warning to stop jumping onto it so it would last longer, but sadly, bad habits die hard.

Hitoshi put down the fragile mug. He only drank half, but the amount of coffee they had was a little too much for coffee that only coasted a few cents. Even if it got cold, Hitoshi would either just drink it as it would be or warm back up in their microwave.

Hitoshi made his way towards the couch himself, sitting down near the blond who instantly moved to be closer to his boyfriend. The room heater hardly brought heat, but it was better than relying on the apartment's thermostat. The thing hardly worked on a good day. So the two relied on blankets and body warmth through the winter, though summer was a different story.

With the roads iced over and the two not wishing to go outside and leave their comfortable position, they stayed like that for awhile. Huddled up next to each other with a blanket they found on sale at the store only ten minutes away.

Denki spoke a few times, starting small conversation while the other just listened or gave small comments on the others small rant. The blonds once nicely brushed hair had become messy once again. His boyfriend was to blame, as his hand was brushed through the blond hair, occasionally ruffling it.

There wasn't much for the couple to do. Chores needed to get done, but Denki had forgotten while Hitoshi didn't wish to disturb such a peaceful moment.

It felt like back when they were in college. A couple who didn't have much of a care in the world. Little did they know they'd end up in debt and have to settle somewhere old and practically run down. Their neighbors weren't pleasant, as there was always seemed to be someone yelling.

Mornings like this felt refreshing. It was the weekend, so their yelling neighbors were sound asleep. It felt like pure bliss as they were welcomed with a calming silence.

It was small. But it's the little things, as some say.
