Chapter 1: Persona 1

Chapter Text

Persona 1

Izuku wiped at his tears as his mom led him to the car, he had a quirk but the doctors didn’t know what it was so they labeled him as quirkless.  He couldn’t tell them about the voice in his head or he’d also be labeled as crazy, so he stayed quiet, despite the voice saying differently.

He hated this feeling, seriously he was only 4! He shouldn’t already be so thrown away by most of society.

“Ignore them and focus on yourself, kid.” A rough young adult voice said in head, making Izuku zone out for a split second before refocusing so he didn’t worry his mom.

Izuku sighed without a sound in his seat, Maybe I should, but idk.

The voice chuckled softly in his head before falling silent.  Izuku tuned everything out again and when they got back to the apartment and inside it he walked into his room and just laid in bed.  He hated being discarded despite having a quirk.

Izuku laid in bed contemplating everything before he finally fell asleep, wondering what would happen now.  If only he realized how bad everything will be until he finally awakens.

~~TimeSkip~~

It’s been almost 5 years since then, Izuku is now 8 years old and currently running from his ex friend Katsuki Bakugo, who he used to call ‘Kaachan’ but thanks to some prodding by the voice he gave up on that, which confused his mom, but she accepted pretty readily.

He still never told her about the young adult voice he could hear in his head, or the fact that he would randomly find Red, Orange, and Dark Yellow leaves in his hair every time he dismissed his intelligence.  Or even the fact that he felt a strange tie to Katsuki even though the boy seemed to absolutely hate his guts.

Izuku knew he was probably smarter than most kids his age, but it’s also this intellect that made him a target, as well as his supposed quirklessness.

“Not like Bakugo would ever believe I actually had a quirk anyway.” The little eight year old scoffed as he finally ditched his chasers.

“I must agree with you, Izuku.” The voice agreed as a form shimmered like mist next to him as he walked with his head down.

“Zagreus, I’m worried, I’ve been having those visions again.  The Clock Tower, The Limo, and then The Jail.  What is all that?”

“I do not know either Izuku, all I remember was floating in a void after a failed escape attempt of my fathers domain and I woke up in your head.  I have seen these things though as well and it has made me very curious.”

Izuku sighed to himself as he continued to walk.  Not even Zagreus knew anything, but that was fine they’d figure it out together.

Unbeknownst to the boy and the voice they were being tailed by a snowy owl in the treetops.

“Whoo. Must tell Igor the Wild Card is awakening.”  It cooed to itself before flying away and bursting into blue sparkles just above the roof of the nearest building, which startled the blonde haired boy who was standing there with a telescope.

“Shuen will never believe I just saw that.” The boy said to himself before packing up his telescope and running down the stairs to leave the building.  Never noticing the tarot card that floated above him, The Moon.

A purple haired girl with a guitar case on her back walking beside a raven headed boy also spotted the Owl, but the boy didn't.  He did notice his friend being distracted though.

“Kyoka?”

The girl looked to her friend and tilted her head.

“You didn't see that Toko?”

Tokoyami shook his head, he hated lying to his friend since he had noticed the owl flying by before she got distracted.  It was a weird bird thing he got from his moms side of the family.

Kyoka sighed and shook her head as well, “Oh well it was nothing really, probably just a trick of the light, anyway how's your practice going?”

Tokoyami stalled a little before a black bird shadow came out of his stomach.  Dark Shadow grinned and fistbumped Kyoka when they appeared.

“He’s been stalling for a week.” Dark Shadow explained as he dodged Tokoyamis attempts to stop him before stopping as Kyoka leveled him with an icy glare.

“Toko, why have you been stalling on your lessons?” She asked and Tokoyami gulped.

“I-It's nothing, I’ve just had trouble focusing recently. Really weird dreams about an entire church inside colored blue, a long nosed man, a teenage girl and another boy with green curly hair.  Every night recently as well, it’s been messing with my already screwed up sleep schedule.” Tokoyami explained

Kyoka chuckled, “That is a weird dream, but it is you so who knows if it's actually a dream, now come one we’re gonna be late.”

She started running off making tokoyami follow her with Dark Shadow exclaiming in glee.  Above the three friends floated more tarot cards.  One for The Priestess, another for The Magician, and the last for The Chariot.

Another purple haired kid was just running out of his latest foster home with a muzzle wrapped around his face.  The foster mother ran out screaming at him, but he didnt care, he just wanted away.  He ran for a while before slumping down outside a building, never looking where he was as he sat down and silently cried and tried to take the muzzle off.

He didn't know how long he was there before a voice spoke up.

“Oh dear, are you ok kiddo?” He looked up and saw a tall man in a trench coat and a detective badge on his hip.  “That looks painful, come inside the station and we can get that looked at.”

The boy nodded, he didn't know why but he felt he could trust this detective. He stood and walked inside the station where activity slowed to a stop as they took in his muzzle.

A cat headed officer walked over, “Detective Tsukauchi, whos the young boy?”

Detective Tsukauchi shook his head, “I dont know Sansa, he was curled into a ball outside before i noticed the muzzle, but we need to help him.”

The boys eyes widened at those words and he went to open his mouth before he stopped as the clamped tightened on his tongue making him make a noise in pain.

Detective Tsukauchi and Officer Sansa immediately kneeled next to him.  “Hey are you ok?”

The boy shook his head and pointed at his mouth, and just inched it open so the clamp won't tighten.  He watched Tsukauchis eyes blazed with protective fury and heard Officer Sansa start hissing quietly.

“Kid, can you tell us your name?” Sansa asked and the boy nodded as he raised his hands and signed his name. Hitoshi Shinso.

Tsukauchi smiled, “Dont worry Hitoshi, we’ll help you out of that muzzle quickly.”

Hitoshi started to cry again and Tsukauchi hugged him gently.  Two more tarot cards appeared invisible to everyone.  The Justice and The Emperor.

Meanwhile inside a church sat a lone girl with vines for hair as she kneeled at the altar and was seen praying.  A man clothed in white robes walked in from a side door and smiled down at the girl.

“Little Miss Shiozaki, how are you today?” The man asked gently.

Shiozaki opened her eyes and looked up at the man, “I’m doing well priest, i had some people to pray for and i really needed the time to myself as well.”

The priest smiled gently, “Very nice sweetheart, i have others to see to, please let me know when you are leaving.”

Shiozaki nodded, and turned back to praying, never noticing the blue tarot card above her head, The Empress,  or that when she did the priest snuck a photo of her and grew a lecherous grin on his lips before walking away.

In a sprawling mansion sat a lonely 9 year old girl with long raven black hair.  She was currently getting tutored even though she didn't need it.  To all others she was considered a genius and a prodigy with a quirk to match.

To Momo Yaoyarozu though, she was incredibly socially inept.  She wanted to be free of her destiny as just the heir of her family's conglomerate.

She sighed softly as she tuned out her tutor and thought of ways to leave.  Above her head floated a tarot card, The Lovers.

The sound of scratching echoed around the dark hallways of an abandoned warehouse before a green light came out of a door revealing a fat doctor with goggles and holding a black creature.

“Tomura Shigaraki, Master is pleased to see you progressing nicely, we will proceed to the next stage now.” The doctor spoke as a teen boy with white hair appeared out of the shadows.  His fingers scratching and digging into his neck leaving rivets of blood and skin.

“Good, its all for master, i must become everything he wants for me.”

Tomura shigaraki gave a depraved smile as a tarot card spun above his head, Death.
