Yukina had known from the moment she laid eyes on the girl in front of her that she wanted her in her band. The girl played in a way she hadn't seen anyone else do and she just seemed to match what she wanted of this band. Now, to just hope this girl wasn't already in one. It didn't look it.
"You're pretty good." Yakima approached the girl after she was done playing a song on her guitar.
"Eh?" The girl seemed surprised.
"You don't get any compliments on your playing?" Yakima didn't understand the reaction, but then again she wasn't the best at understanding people to begin with.
"I do... I just... what do you want?"
"Your name? Minato Yukina." Yukina nodded to her.
The girl hesitated. "Hikawa Sayo."
"Would you like to be in my band?" Yukina didn't bother trying to make small talk anymore. She had the info she wanted.
Sayo stared at her. "You... want me in your band?"
Yukina nodded. "You're what I'm looking for."
"I... that's a bad idea, Minato-san."
"Why?"
Yukina couldn't think of much reason why that would be a bad idea. Unless Sayo had some really dark secrets, there was no reason they couldn't cooperate together in a band. She wasn't giving up. She wanted this girl and she was going to exhaust all options to get her if that was what it took.
"Well..." Sayo nervously looked around the area and then leaned in to whisper into Yukina's ear. "I... am trans..."
"So?" Yukina still didn't see what the big deal was.
So the girl in front of her wasn't born one. Who cared? Yukina certainly didn't. Gender identity was the last thing she cared about in her decision of band mates. She just wanted an all-girl band and as far as she cared, Sayo qualified for that.
"What do you mean so?" Sayo was also confused by her reaction. They were both just confusing each other with their reactions now. This conversation was not going in any direction Yukina had planned for it to.
"I don't care. You're a girl. You're what I'm looking for. Join me." Yukina held out a hand to Sayo.
Sayo stared at her hand for a long time. Eventually, she reached hers out and grabbed Yukina's. Yukina smiled.
"Welcome to Roselia, Sayo."
"I... thank you for having me." Sayo seemed at a loss for words.
Yukina was glad to have made progress in this. She got one band member. Now to just find some more and then her dream could begin. She had no worries that things would work out.
Sure, having Sayo in her band might cause a few problems here and there from outsiders. But, it wasn't like they'd not get people commenting on how they did things anyway. Yukina wasn't going to care what anyone else said. She knew what she was doing and nothing was going to stop her.
And on God if anyone messed with her band mates, she was not going to let it slide.
