Chapter Text
Cloud Kingdom
As the ninja were fending out the beast, Sora and Arin were saved by a wind current. When they looked ahead they noticed one of the writers of destiny. It was a girl about their age, maybe a little older than them. She seemed to have been the one to save them.
“She’s the Elemental Master of Wind.”, said Arin, “But what about Morro?”
“Morro?”, asked Sora.
“The Master of Wind, at least he was before the merge. Lloyd said there could only ever be one master of an element. What happened to him?”
“Nothing good if there’s a new master.”, said Sora.
As Nya, Kai and Lloyd went to the archives, Sora and Arin decided to confront the girl from before.
As they confronted her, she denied she did something. She was no elemental master. Arin and Sora noticed the uncertainty in her voice. She was saying this more to convince herself than anyone else.
“Wait!”, called Arin before Euphrasia left. She turned to him.
“Do you maybe, know what happened to Morro then? The Master of Wind before you.”
“I told you I’m not the master of wind!”, she left without answering the question.
The beasts returned and they had to fight them off.
As they were fighting, Euphrasia finally made a decision.
“Time to make our own destiny!”, she yelled as she joined the fight to help the ninja.
The second she joined the fight she caught the eye of Nya. At first, she thought it might be Morro. Her best friend, the ride or die. But no. It was a girl. Nya wasn’t sure how to feel about that. What happened to Morro? Was he alive? Or did he die? Nya decided to put these questions away for now. She’d ask once the beasts are taken care of.
Similar to Nya, Kai was worried about his friend’s wellbeing. Morro and he may not have had the best start, no one had really, but they were friends nonetheless, family even. Kai was worried he’d have to break the news of Morro’s death to Cole. The Master of Earth would be devasted.
Lloyd had a similar reaction to the older two. He was surprised. His surprise quickly turned to worry and fear. All he wanted to know was what happened to Morro. Morro and he had a rough start but soon enough they grew close. Morro was Lloyd’s cousin; Lloyd wasn’t sure if he was ready to admit he lost the cousin he only got a few years ago.
With the beasts gone and Euphrasia relieved she wouldn’t have to leave her home, Lloyd jumped to ask the question all three ninjas were thinking.
“Euphrasia, not that we aren’t glad you could help us, but how are you the new Master of Wind? Do you know what happened to Morro?”
“Well-“, she said but she was cut off by a commotion coming from one of the buildings.
“Sir, please, you need to rest more!”, said someone.
“Screw that.”, said a very familiar voice.
“Morro!”, yelled the three ninjas.
“Long time no see.”, he said.
Morro had a staff in his left hand support himself. The reason he had to support his left side while walking over to his friends was the lack of his left leg. It was no longer there. The pant leg was tied into a knot to not get in the way.
Once he was close enough, Lloyd tackled him in a hug. Soon Nya as well as Kai joined the hug.
“I missed you guys.”, said Morro.
“You’re not going soft on us, are you?”, teased Kai.
“In your dreams.”, said Morro.
Morro then looked towards Euphrasia and smiled.
“Looks like I chose the perfect successor.”
“You passed on your powers?”, asked Lloyd.
“I did. I-“, before Morro could start, Sora cut in.
“What happened to your leg?”, she paused, she didn’t mean to say that out loud, “Sorry.”
“It’s fine.”, Morro said, “As I was saying…”
Morro didn’t know what exactly happened. All he remembered was the chaos of whatever that was. But right now, all Morro could focus on was the pain. The pain in his left leg, well the lack of his leg. It was gone. Morro knew only a miracle could save him now. He had lost too much blood already. He would die again. And once again he’d be alone. Even when he had a place to call home, he was doomed to die alone. Just when his life was feeling like a dream come true, it was ripped from him. Only a few weeks ago he had married the love of his life, Cole. And he wasn’t even allowed to enjoy married life for more than a few weeks. The word truly hated him.
Just when Morro was ready to pass on the second time around he heard a gasp from his side. He looked over and saw a young girl. She was a writer of destiny judging by her clothes. Was he in the Cloud Kingdom?
The girl kneeled next to him. He stared at her.
“You’re still alive!”, she exclaimed, “I need to get help!”
A writer of destiny who wants to take action? Morro was impressed. Before she stood again Morro used all the strength he had left and lifted his hand to take hers. He passed his powers to her. If he didn’t make it, he had a feeling she would make a good Master of Wind, if he somehow did make it out alive, he would teach her.
“Thank you.”, was all he could say before he lost consciousness.
“And I’ve been here since, recovering.”, said Morro.
After the four ninjas shared a few more things, Nya decided to stay behind to do some more research.
“And you Morro?”, asked Lloyd.
“I’ll stay here too. Someone needs a teacher after all.”, Morro said as he put a hand on Euphrasia’s shoulder.
With that, the remaining four left the Could Kingdom once again.
Land of Lost Things
Cole woke up in a cold sweat. He hadn’t had an easy time sleeping, not in a long time.
“Cole?”, asked Geo wondering why the other was awake.
“Another nightmare.”
“About losing Morro?”
“Yeah.”, Cole leaned into Geo.
“Cole, if Morro is only half the man you believe him to be, he’s alive out there somewhere.”
Cole huffed a laugh. “I know, doesn’t mean I worry less.”
Geo tightened his hold on Cole. Geo knew that Cole was married to Morro, yet they had somehow grown to love each other too. It didn’t mean Cole loved Morro any less. Cole loved both of them. And Geo hoped he could meet Morro one day and get along with him for Cole’s sake. Part of him even hoped they could be more than just friends. From the stories, Cole told him, Morro was amazing. Geo wasn’t worried about not liking Morro, he knew he would. He was more worried Morro would like him.
“You’re worrying again.”, said Cole as he playfully poked Geo’s head, “Morro will like you. I know it.”
“How do you even know what I was thinking about?”
“I’m just that good.”, Cole laughed, “I know you’ll love each other when you meet.”
“Love each other?!”, Geo couldn’t be flustered at eh wording.
“Yup.” Sometimes Cole was a mystery to him.
Meanwhile, in a Kingdom high in the air, the people were standing in a wide-open area.
One, the shorter one, was going through forms while the other was observing.
Then the taller person sneezed loudly.
“Morro, is everything okay?”, asked Euphrasia.
“I’m fine.”, said Morro, “Start from the top.”
“Yes, Sensei!”
As Morro observed Euphrasia’s form, he couldn’t help but wonder why that sneeze made him think of Cole.
