Work Text:

fushiguro wasn’t sure how he ended up shoved inside a small closet with his best friend he’s in love with for the last seven months, but for some reason, he was. one second, he was hanging out with his friends, smoking and drinking, and the next, they were reminiscing about their childhood with a game of truth or dare; which unfortunately, resulted in this.

three feet away from him was itadori, and if fushiguro didn’t know any better, he’d kiss him right then and there. god, he wanted to, he desperately wanted to, but it wasn’t the time for that. right now, he was thinking of a million ways to kill kugisaki without getting caught.

she dared itadori to do seven minutes in heaven with fushiguro, knowing that fushiguro was madly in love with him. she was smart about it too, daring itadori instead of fushiguro. she knew that he’d never agree to that, but itadori, as amazing and wonderful as he is, was dumb enough to agree with it. just how was fushiguro supposed to stay calm at a time like this?

trying his best to contain himself, fushiguro sighed, grateful for the dark that was hiding his blushing face. god, how the fuck did he end up here in the first place?

-

“god, he’s the fucking worst,” mai complained to miwa before taking a sip of her beer.
“i don’t think she’s still with him, he cheated on her a bunch,” kugisaki whispered to maki.
“here,” choso said as he handed his joint to todo to share.
“i could totally do a backflip off the balcony,” itadori stupidly boasted to fushiguro about.

gathered together in kugisaki and maki’s cozy apartment, the two had invited all their friends over after finals to relax and enjoy themselves. laughter filling the air, conversations were scattered about as were drinks and weed, everybody breaking off into little groups to have fun and talk about dumb stuff like jumping off balconies.

still, everybody was having fun, and fushiguro couldn’t help but spend all his time with his best friend. itadori was an idiot- even more of one when he was drunk and high -, but fushiguro was head-over-heels in love with him. from his pastel-pink hair to his contagious smile, fushiguro adored everything about him, and he’d give the world just to kiss him.

of course, fushiguro would never say that. he was content with what he had now. well, he wasn’t really. it hurt, and his heart ached and yearned for more. but he couldn’t risk losing what they had now. he’d rather have some of itadori than none at all.

this was good enough for him, it was good enough for fuhsiguro; it had to be.

-

eventually, as the night went on, the entire friend group gathered together, huddling and snuggling up around the living room. the smell of smoke and shitty booze encapsulated their youth into one room, wide smiles plastered on every face around. they were all happy, as if the feeling of burn out never existed.

but soon enough, their conversations fell flat, too drunk, high, or uninteresting to talk about anything. it wasn’t an awkward kind of silence, it was actually quite comforting. the couples in the room cuddled with one another while the rest just laid comfortably with their friends. it was nice, but they were still bored out of their minds.

“hey, why don’t we play truth or dare?” kugisaki suggested, blowing a puff of smoke out.
“aren’t we too old for that?” fushiguro asked. they really weren’t, he just didn’t feel like playing it. truth or dare got boring when nobody knew what to do.
“who cares?” kugisaki countered. “we’re just reliving our childhood, you know?”

“it does sound kind of fun,” yuuta commented, a few heads nodding in agreement.
“so?” itadori turned to fushiguro with a wide grin. “what do you say, wanna play?”
god, it was a crime to have a smile that perfect. it made it hard for fushiguro to say no to him.
trying to hide his blush, fushiguro shrugged. “sure, whatever.”

-

“i’m going to throw up,” inumaki signed as he gagged, “i don’t want to do this.”
maki snickered and pointed at todo’s armpit. “hey, a dare is a dare. besides, you always do dumb shit to us, so it’s now your turn.”
“it’s only fair, toge,” yuta quipped, chuckling at the position his boyfriend was in.

rolling his eyes, inumaki took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself before quickly licking todo’s armpit from top to bottom. almost immediately, he ran to the kitchen sink, gagging as he tried to wash the taste off. todo was surprisingly fine, not minding at all and even laughing along. meanwhile, inumaki flipped them all off between gargles of water.

once all their laughter died down, they spun the bottle, letting it decide who was next. it landed on itadori, who seemed very excited to finally get a turn.
“hmmm, what would a good dare for itadori be?” maki thought with a hum. while she was thinking, kugisaki’s face lit up and quickly whispered something into her ear.

fushiguro couldn’t make out what she was saying, but judging by the quiet snickers and sly smirks they were wearing, he wasn’t going to like it.
“ok, itadori,” maki announced, “i dare you… to play seven minutes in heaven with fushiguro.”
yup, he was right, he didn’t like this one bit.

convinced that itadori was smarter than this- and also that he didn’t have feelings for him -, fushiguro was sure that he would be against it. doing a dare like that would only be a waste of time and lead to awkward tensions. there’s no way itadori would ever agree to that-

“sure!” itadori beamed with a wide grin, quickly grabbing fushiguro’s wrist before he could protest. “come on, fushiguro, let’s go!”
“wha-” fushiguro couldn’t even get a full sentence out before being shoved into a cramped closet, the last thing he saw being kugisaki and maki giggling as they locked the door.

-

and now, they were here, close enough to feel each other’s breath, reeking of weed and beer. fushiguro knew damn well that kugisaki wouldn’t let them out in just seven minutes; hell, he’d be lucky to be let out in ten. but he probably wasn’t going to, so for now, he just had to endure the awkward tension and feelings between him and itadori.

neither of them said a word, barely able to make out the other’s figure in the dark. fushiguro wondered if itadori’s heart was beating as fast as his, quickly dismissing the thought. there’s not way that was going to happen. fushiguro sighed. if he could actually play seven minutes in heaven with him, that’d be great. he sighed again. if only-

“mmhp!” out of nowhere, fushiguro felt a pair of lips crash into his, a warm body pressing against him like an immovable force. it was itadori, of course it was, but fushiguro couldn’t believe that he was actually kissing him and making out with him. it was like a dream come true, as if he were in heaven.

hot and heavy, he kissed back with the same fervor and desire in his lips, savoring itadori’s taste and love. fushiguro wrapped his hands around his neck, grazing itadori’s nape and undercut. two hands grabbed ahold of his hips, sliding a calloused hand up his shirt. insatiable and incredible, fushiguro couldn’t get enough of him, and it seemed like itadori felt the same.

it felt amazing, it felt better than amazing, and fushiguro made sure to never forget the curve of itadori’s lips. before they knew it, they were grinding against each other, impatiently chasing the high off one another. fushiguro needed more, his kisses getting more sloppy and messy. itadori seemed to notice, his hands darting towards fushiguro’s belt.

lips still as one, fushiguro couldn’t wait to have itadori, to feel him all around. but just as itadori was about to talk off his belt, fushiguro realized something: he was enjoying this because he was in love with itadori, but was itadori if he wasn’t in love with him?

shoving him away, itadori’s head hit that wall with a loud thud, a few whispers of concern coming from outside. catching his breath, fushiguro couldn’t control his shaking hands, his mind foggy and a mess. itadori wasn’t in love with him, so why was he doing this? fushiguro didn’t know, but he felt like crying an ocean of emotions.

banging on the door, fushiguro couldn’t focus on anything else but getting out of there. he could hear itadori talking to him, but he couldn’t make out his words, and frankly, he didn’t care. for once, fushiguro didn’t care about itadori’s doings. he just needed to get out, he needed to get out now.

eventually, kugisaki opened it, but fushiguro shoved past her, grabbing his jacket on the way out. everybody was asking him what was going on, but fushiguro wanted nothing more than to be alone right now, pushing past his group of friends. his mind was a mess right now, and he couldn’t handle being stuck in this shithole any longer.

it was dark and pouring, but fushiguro just kept running and running and running. his body moved on his own, and he didn’t know where he was going. itadori was his ride here, he was his best friend and roommate for god’s sake. how was he going to live like this? itadori definitely regretted it, and he probably hated him right now.

“fushiguro!” he heard a voice shout, a voice he knew and loved. it was itadori, chasing after him. it was pointless trying to outrun him, but still, fushiguro tried. he needed to get away from him, he needed to get away from everything.
“fushiguro, wait!”

itadori grabbed his wrist and turned him around, and fushiguro has never been more thankful for the rain. nobody could tell that he was crying right now-
“are you crying?” itadori asked, out of breath and worried. it pained fushiguro knowing how caring and considerate was, it pained him so much that he ended up crying even more.

“fushiguro, talk to me, please,” itadori pleaded, futility wiping fushiguro’s tears away, only for them to be replaced by a million raindrops.
“talk to me, please, fushiguro, tell me what’s wrong. i’m sorry, fushiguro, i’m- i’m sorry if i hurt you, i didn’t mean to-”

“of course you did!” fushiguro shouted, finally saying something. “how could you not?! fucking kissing me out of nowhere when you don’t even like me, are you serious?!”
he pushed him away, but he didn’t run away this time. he was too tired to, and as much as he hated to admit it, he couldn’t stand being away from itadori.

“wha- what are you talking about?” dumbfounded as ever, itadori just stared at him, wide-eyed and confused. maybe he wasn’t as considerate as fushiguro thought he was.
“i’m talking about kissing me in that stupid fucking closet!” fushiguro yelled, his sobs growing louder. “why would you do that to me?! especially when you don’t even like me!-”

“who said that i don’t like you?!” itadori shouted back, his eyes piercing through fushiguro’s soul. what did he just say?
“wha- what?” was all fushiguro could managed to get out, hoping that he heard right, hoping that it was true and he wasn’t in some cruel, twisted dream.

“fushiguro, i did it because i like you,” itadori confessed, his words as true as ever. “i know i should’ve asked, but i couldn’t keep these feelings down any longer. it’s no excuse, and i’m sorry, but don’t ever think that i don’t like you because i do.”
slowly, itadori brought fushiguro’s hand over his chest, over his beating heart.

“i’m in love with you, fushiguro,” itadori said ever so softly, his reflection warm and sweet in fushiguro’s eyes. “i’m so, so, so fucking in love with you.”
despite saying it a dozen times over, fushiguro still couldn’t believe it. “r-really? do you actually mean that?”

“of course i do! why else would i kiss you?” itadori chuckled and cupped fushiguro’s face, cherishing everything that he is.
fushiguro laughed with him, leaning into his warmth. “i don’t know, i just didn’t think you would ever feel the same.”

with a soft smile, itadori kissed fushiguro’s forehead, full of love and patience. fushiguro’s never felt so treasured before.
“well, i do,” itadori reassured, “and i always will. i love everything about you, fushiguro, and i hope you’ll have me.”

fushiguro felt like crying again. “of course i will.”
smiles matching one another, it felt like time stopped just for them as the moonlight dimly illuminated the love in their eyes. as cliche as it was to kiss in the rain, neither of them hesitated to feel each other’s lips again.

their friends completely forgotten, itadori and fushiguro stayed together in the pouring rain, too happy and in love to look anywhere else but into each other’s eyes. who knew a love as wonderful as this existed? fushiguro didn’t, not in the slightest. he was going to curse that closet till he was on his deathbed, but for now, he’d appreciate having itadori in his arms.
