Chapter Text
In hindsight, getting bitten by a giant venomous snake was a rather painful way to go. Even if the young girl by the name of Harmonia Potter was only twelve years old, pain was something of a close friend of hers, thanks to her uncle, Vernon Dursley. Be it because she ‘screwed something up’ or simply because she accidentally did something that made him angry. And something that Harmonia enjoyed doing that was very likely to make Vernon angry was singing. The fact that Harmonia actually was a good singer wasn’t lost on her as her classmates had told her that she was one of the best singers they ever heard and some of them claimed to have very high standards.
“Looks like I’m about to die. This stinks.” Harmonia couldn’t resist thinking as she pulled the dagger-sized fang buried in her arm out of said arm.

“I suppose there could be more painful ways to go. Though I suppose that dying rather heroically after saving someone isn’t necessarily the worst way to die.”

“Still… dying definitely stinks. I never got to do so much as make even an attempt at achieving my dream of being a singer.”
[Request Detected. Notice: The Skills Siren’s Voice, Enhancing Song and Ultrasonic Scream have been added to the new body. Notice: The Skills Siren’s Voice and Enhancing Song have been combined into the Extra Skill: Bard.]
“But that’s not gonna happen now. Would have been nice to be able to entertain people, to be able to make just one person‘s day a little better by having one’s song resonate with them through the radio.”
[Request Detected. Notice: The Unique Skill: Radio Host has been created. Sub-Skills are Audio Broadcast, Vocal Distortion, Signal Hijack and Musical Accompaniment.]
“Urgh. Whoever or whatever it is that keeps on talking, shut up already and let me die in relative peace.”
[Notice: Transference of Mind and Soul will soon commence. Welcome to a new world.]
Chapter Text
In the relatively short time since the Japanese man by the name of Satoru Mikami was reincarnated into the New World as the Slime known as Rimuru Tempest, he had achieved a lot of things. Established a nation, became a Demon Lord and freed his first friend of the New World and sworn brother, Veldora Tempest. He liked to consider himself a patient and benevolent being, a sentiment that was acknowledged and reinforced by the many people who had met him. A benevolence that made him willing to take the gamble of extending a hand of genuine kindness to anyone willing to receive it.
Receiving a Thought Communication from one of the Hobgoblins serving as one of the night guards that a young member of a species of human-like Monsters that normally wasn’t native to the Great Forest of Jura, more specifically a Serpentin (a kind of Monster easily described as a reptilian humanoid torso attached to the body/tail of a snake by the waist), had been found in one of the city of Rimuru’s alleys unconscious and rapidly freezing to death on a particularly cold night in winter was not something that Rimuru expected to happen. But he quickly gave the night guard the order to conjure a flame with magic to keep the Serpentin from freezing as Rimuru personally made his way to the location to bring the Serpentin somewhere warm and therefore be able to eventually explain as his Ultimate Skill, Raphael, explained to him that Serpentins and the many species Evolved from Serpentins were cold-blooded like normal snakes and needed warmth from outside sources, using the Skill that all members of the species naturally possessed, Exothermic Energy-Absorption, to absorb warmth from the environment. Environments that were typically either tropical forests or deserts (depending on what specific species of Serpentin one was referring to) according to Raphael.
Upon finally reaching the alley the night guard had contacted him from, Rimuru was greeted by the sight of the Hobgoblin holding a flame in his hands close enough for the Serpentin to absorb its heat but far away enough to not set the ragged remnants of a simple dress donning the Serpentin, which was revealed to not only be a female but also a child, on fire. A sight that warmed his metaphorical heart, as he technically didn’t have a physical heart despite being able to Mimic the forms of beings that had physical hearts. Based on the coloring of the Serpentin’s scales and hair-like quills, a mix of greens and nearly black dark browns, Rimuru quickly came to the conclusion that the Serpentin was of the tropical variety. Carefully picking up the Serpentin, Rimuru couldn’t help himself from smiling at the young female Monster with serpentine traits, who was unconsciously snuggling up against comparatively warmer than the environment Demon Lord for warmth. Once Rimuru got the Serpentin inside his home and put to bed in a bed prepared to be as warm as possible, Rimuru asked his Ultimate Skill about the oddity that had been on his mind for the entire time he carried the Serpentin.
“Raphael. Run an Appraisal on the Serpentin for me. Something isn’t right here.”
[Understood, commencing Appraisal… Appraisal complete. The individual referred to as ‘the Serpentin’ appears to possess multiple Skills not normally associated with Serpentins. In conclusion: there’s a high chance that ‘the Serpentin’ is an Otherworlder who arrived in a manner similar to your own arrival; Reincarnation.]
“I see. That makes some sense. Thanks Raphael. Based on how you referred to her as ‘the Serpentin’, do I assume correctly that she is regarded by the World as a Nameless Monster?”
[You do. I suggest talking to her in the morning in order to avoid panic and possibly giving her a Name.]
“Indeed. But that’s something that will have to wait. I’m personally hoping that she got ‘sent over’ under relatively better circumstances than me.”
Chapter Text
Rimuru’s closest subordinates were definitely surprised by the news that a potential Otherworlder had seemingly appeared in the middle of the night within the boundaries of Rimuru (the City). They did however quickly calm down once Rimuru himself managed to explain his theory about ‘the Serpentin’. While Diablo, Benimaru, Souei, Hakurou and Shion weren’t particularly worried about ‘the Serpentin’, Shuna on the other hand was somewhat concerned about the fact that ‘the Serpentin’ was likely to have been transferred from her old world into the current one through Reincarnation (like Rimuru) and what kind of lingering effects those circumstances might have left behind, namely any trauma left behind from her previous life.
[Notice: ‘the Serpentin’ is starting to regain consciousness. She appears to be quite reluctant to wake up however.] Hearing Raphael’s notification, Rimuru rose from his seat and started making his way to the room where ‘the Serpentin’ was sleeping.
“Thanks Raphael. Has she, by any chance, done anything in her sleep that might help make sure she doesn’t panic when I enter?”
[… She's been ‘talk-singing’ what appears to be a song normally sung by sailors in her sleep.]
“Better than nothing I suppose. What’s the lyrics?”
“Yo-ho ho ho, yo-ho ho-ho. Yo-ho ho ho, yo-ho ho-ho." It was rather faint, due to the distance and the fact that there was a closed door between them, but Rimuru could hear the voice of a young girl ‘talk-singing’. ‘The Serpentin’.
“I actually recognize this one. Bink’s Brew.” Smiling to himself, Rimuru couldn’t resist starting to actually sing along. “Gather up all of the crew. It’s time to ship out Bink’s Brew. Sea wind blows, to where, who knows? The waves will be our guide. O’er across the ocean's tide, rays of sunshine far and wide. The birds, they sing, of cheerful things in circles passing by.”
Despite not necessarily having the best singing voice, in comparison to his citizens and ‘the Serpentin’ especially, Rimuru liked to at least pretend that he wasn’t too terrible a singer. Even if he had been called ‘practically tone deaf’ in a friendly manner by his friends in his previous life as Satoru Mikami. Regardless of the quality (or lack thereof) of Rimuru’s singing, the Slime Demon Lord’s singing had the very unintended consequence of making ‘the Serpentin’ stop ‘talk-singing’ in her sleep and wake up… albeit in a limited capacity due to ambient cold as Serpentins (as a general species) default response to cold was hibernation until the weather was warm enough for their Exothermic Energy-Absorption to absorb enough warmth from the surroundings to power a Serpentin’s bodily functions.
With that last fact in mind, Rimuru proceeded to make use of some materials stored in his Stomach to create something that would assist ‘the Serpentin’, a relatively small object that was powered by a series of Runes and a Magistone to produce a source of heat for ‘the Serpentin’ to absorb, which could be either attached to a belt or placed down in a kind of ‘radiator-mode’, the third and final setting simply being the off-setting, before carefully knocking on the door of the room ‘the Serpentin’ was in. An action that prompted Raphael to inform him that ‘the Serpentin’ was not only very alert and as awake as she could be, but also being on the verge of a panic attack.
“What is going on? Where am I? How did I get here? Why do I feel so cold? And who the heck are you?” ‘The Serpentin’ asked Rimuru, not directly, but her questions were, in essence, aimed towards him with the expectation that he would have some answers.
“In a rather odd order; my name is Rimuru Tempest. Regarding how you got here, to this room specifically, one of my subordinates found you outside and contacted me. I was the one who brought you here. What brought you into this world however, appears to have been the World itself. You’ve been reincarnated into a new world.”
“Seriously?”
“Dead serious.”
“Well… I am quite sure that I died, so I guess getting reincarnated in a new world is a rather good reward for all the strife I’ve been through.”
“I’m not going to ask for details, but there’s something I need to inform you of.”
“What?”
“You’re considered a Nameless Monster by the World and if you want to, I’m willing to give you not only a Name but also a place to stay here in my city, Rimuru. And before you ask, I was against naming the city after myself, but my subordinates outvoted me. What do you say?”
“I see… I guess that’s fine. Can I make a request regarding my name though?”
“Sure?”
“My name in the previous world was Harmonia, can I have that as my ‘new’ name?”
“I don’t see any reason to deny your request. Welcome to Rimuru, Harmonia.”
