Chapter Text
The five counselors stand there for a moment, staring at the dead girl floating in the pool, before Ryan speaks again.
“That’s Kaylee Hackett,” he says in a choked voice.
“... Mr. H’s daughter? I thought she went home with her brother,” Kaitlyn replies, surprised.
“Kaylee. Yeah. I thought so too.”
Between the two of them, Nick and Abi are clinging onto each other- but Nick is starting to cling harder, making Abi look uncomfortable.
“Oh man. Poor Kaylee…” Kaitlyn says, still focused on the dead girl in the pool.
“Nick…” Abi pipes up, sounding confused.
“You smell so good…” he murmurs.
Kaitlyn looks over at them, concerned.

Nick buries his face in Abi’s hair, breathing her in and clearly not intending to let go any time soon.
“Why would anyone want to shoot Kaylee Hackett?” Ryan asks suddenly, arms thrown out.
“Should we… call someone, or…?” Kaitlyn suggests, thinking out loud and forgetting for a moment their total lack of phone service.
“Ah fuck… Chris. How’re we gonna tell Chris?” Ryan says, distraught.
Abi starts shifting in Nick’s hold.
“Nick… what are you…” she starts, clearly getting freaked out.
“I want to taste you…” Nick replies breathily, still refusing to let go.
“Ow!” Abi cries out suddenly, as Nick bites down on her ear. She pushes him away forcefully, sending him toppling into the pool.
It’s silent for a moment as the other four wait for him to come back up.
“...Nick?” Abi says worriedly, creeping closer to the edge of the pool.
He pops up suddenly, screaming. “AHH!! AHHHHH!! GNNGAAAHHHHH!!!!”
“Whoa!” Ryan exclaims.
“Are you okay?!” Kaitlyn asks Abi.
“I just wanted him to let go!” Abi answers, panicked.
“Nick! Dude!” Ryan yells, confused, over Nick’s continued screams.

Nick finally reaches the edge of the pool.
“I got him!” Kaitlyn exclaims, rushing forward to haul him out by the arm.
Nick curls up on the ground, shivering violently.
Abi looks around at the others, scared. “What did I do…?”
“I- I don’t know-” Ryan answers as he and Abi lean down to check on Nick. Abi touches him first and gasps.
“He’s so cold… !”
“Okay, l-let’s get him in the pool house. Dry him off,” Ryan decides.
“And let me put a bandage on your ear, too, Abi,” Kaitlyn interjects, walking around her to help Nick up.
Abi’s hand shoots up to her left ear, and her expression flattens a little when her fingers come back bloody.
