Work Text:
Before, nothing gave Gabriel more satisfaction than his job. Being the Supreme Archangel of Heaven was great.
So it was pretty weird when that stopped being the only thing that mattered. He didn’t want to assign missions or plan for the next big thing.
Watching Earth out the big windows, he just wanted to go down there.
No, it wasn’t just pretty weird. It was super weird.
It freaked him out a little, at first, but now he was used to it. He waited until everyone else was busy, then took one of the elevators down to Edinburgh’s busy streets.
He turned from side to side, looking across the crowd for the person he’d come to meet. The person who somehow took over all his thoughts when he was supposed to be thinking about the triumph of Heaven.
“You’re late,” Beelzebub said from just beside him.
“Whoa!” Gabriel grinned at them. “Wow, you’re sneaky. That’s a demon thing, huh? Lurking?”
“Yeah, kinda.” Beelzebub winked, then jerked their chin towards the usual pub. “Come on. I saved our seats.”
Gabriel followed, excited. It was still weird to care about anything other than his job, but he was getting used to it.
