Chapter Text
“So, I have a plan, for us to escape.” Omega’s hush whispered words were delivered rather theatrically, something surely having rubbed off of her brothers? The theatricality of it all?
“You can get us out of here?” Jax did not sound as convinced though of Omega’s plan or her having one to begin with. “How?”
“There is a way I figured out. It’s through the delivery shafts in our cell walls.”
“So, you found what you were looking for then?” Eva asked having realised it was what Omega had been doing in her cell moments ago before Doctor Scalder had interrupted her.
“Yes. And we will leave when the lights are out.”
“But, how can we get to your cell?”
“You each have to open up the blocks in your walls. Now here is the way how to do it…”
Omega continued to whisper her instructions to the others. Each of them needing to steal an instrument when their samples were taken to be able to do to get the blocks off the walls. As the cells would be locked during night cycle, they could not easily wander off either to use just the one.
“What of Bayrn? He’s not able to do this. Not on his own.”
“Does he sleep alone?” Omega asked of Sami who had mostly been taking care of the baby, others helping out as well.
“No, they assigned him to my cell for sleep just in case he starts crying.”
Yeah, the Empire really was nice like that. Shoving the responsibility of a captive kid to another in a similar predicament. Not that any of them could or perhaps not even would object taking care of their own kind. As they were all, kindred being Force sensitive and all.
“Then, you need to take him with you. Can you manage that?” Omega was a little worried as for this plan to work as they all needed to have their input in it.
“I… I should be able to.” Sami glanced at the baby babbling in her lap.” I can do it.” She sounded determined enough at least.
“Good. We will help you with him once we are all out of the vault.”
“And you really think we can make it out of here once we are out of the vault?” Jax still needed some assurance this plan would be their salvation.
“I do. My, friends are coming for us.” Omega was sure they would arrive no matter what happened on Pabu. She needed to trust in that fact. They kids just needed to be there, waiting for them. “And we need to be ready. Getting out of the vault might just be the easiest part. But there are lots of others out there too. The clones I told you about who need to get out of here. And maybe, Emerie can help us too.”
“Emerie?”
“Doctor Karr. You all like her, right?”
“Yeah, she seems, nice.”
“Well, then, let’s get ready shall we.”
The kids kept on talking about the plan in hushed tones between their games, not wanting to alert their keepers, always keeping an eye on them. Especially Doctor Scalder. But Omega was confined Emerie at least would come through for them.
Perhaps others would as well following her example. The clones, the commandos… at least Omega had to hope they would. As this rather flimsy plan of hers depended on so many things going right. Or wrong?
