The sun had gone down long ago. Lio was sitting alone by the kitchen table, a candle being his only source of light. His family was in the livinroom, doing their own activities in each other's company. Lio had taken the opportunity to finally wrap their presents. He'd bought everything days in advance, but had forgotten to wrap the presents. It was only two days left until Christmas, and he wanted to get it done in time.
His children's presents were already wrapped and stacked in a neat pile on the kitchen table. Song's present was the only one left. It was a telescope!
It was an old one that the Newton Wolves had given him, and he'd decided to give it to Song since she loved stars so much. She was the reason why he'd made the constellations in the roof of their old burrow, after all.
It was the perfect gift, but he just needed to wrap it. The telescope would be a challenge to wrap without making it too obvious of what it was. He didn’t have a box big enough to fit the telescope inside, and so, he would have to find another way to make it work.
He was about to grab the wrapping paper when he heard steps walking towards the kitchen. Lio quickly grabbed the telescope and pushed it underneath the table, hiding it. He was happy that he did so, as he laid his eyes on his wife as soon as he got back in his seat.
She raised an eyebrow at him as she walked up to him, taking notice of the slight blush on her husband's cheeks.
"What are you hiding under the table?" she asked, leaning down to check for herself.
Lio immediately stopped her by grabbing her shoulder and pulling her towards him.
"It's a surprise! I'm wrapping your presents and I don't want anyone to see what's inside. That will ruin the excitement", Lio explained and Song couldn't help but smile as she took notice of the neatly wrapped presents piled up in front of them.
"Alright, then. Are you sure that you don't want to take a break and join us? Kipo has picked out a boardgame for us to play", Song offered but Lio shook his head.
"No, I'm almost done here. I'll join you as soon as all the presents are wrapped up and ready to be put under the tree", Lio said and Song nodded, understanding.
She hugged him from the side and kissed his cheek softly before she returned to the livinroom to start the boardgame with her family.
Lio picked up the telescope from under the table before he got back into work. It took a while, but he managed to wrap it up until there were no telltale signs of what the present was. He was proud of himself for doing such a good job with the presents.
He couldn't wait for his family to finally open them and get to see what was inside. He could already imagine their excitement.
