Work Text:
Babysit? Is he serious right now?
“Uh—yeah, of course I can,” Buck tells Eddie, though he’s pretty annoyed he’s not inviting him out with him and Tommy. “I love spending time with Chris.”
“That’s great, man,” Eddie says, oblivious to how he’s feeling, a big grin on his face. “It’ll save Marisol from having to again, plus Chris would love some Buck time.”
“Yeah—” he says quickly before they’re interrupted and have to get back to work.
He tries to push these weird feelings aside and focus on work.
Later that night he has more time to think about what he’s feeling but it’s all so confusing. He knows he’s feeling jealous, he’s just not sure why. He’s never felt like this before when it comes to who Eddie hangs out with.
He wants to hang out with Tommy too and hasn’t had the chance yet because every time he’s free it seems like he’s hanging out with Eddie, and they’re both just not inviting him to tag along.
Buck feels exhausted—mentally, physically—yet he’s unsure why he feels this way, like he’s trying so hard for their attention… but why?
*
Buck arrives at Eddie’s right on time. He rings because he doesn’t use his key unless he absolutely has to.
Eddie answers the door and why does he look so good? Buck’s weird deep gut jealous feelings are starting to surface.
“Hey, come in,” Eddie says with a grin, moving back inside the house to let Buck let himself in.
“Hey,” Buck says sheepishly.
“Hey, Buck!” Chris says from the sofa, digging into the box of pizza on the coffee table.
“Hey, Chris,” Buck lights up. Even though he’s not happy about the situation, he loves any chance to spend time with Christopher.
“Got you guys some pizza,” Eddie tells him as he’s putting his jean jacket on. “Though, you should probably get in there quick, pretty sure that’s his third slice already,” he adds with a chuckle and shake of his head.
“Great, thanks,” Buck says, standing there awkwardly.
“I should be back after he’s already in bed but I won’t be too late, Tommy and I both have early shifts,” Eddie tells him.
Tommy and I, ugh.
“Right,” he says, arms crossed, nodding his head.
Eddie gives him a look. “You okay?”
Buck needs to cool it, why is he so jealous? This isn’t like him…
“Totally,” Buck shakes it off. “Have fun.”
Eddie eyes him again but lets it be and says, “Thanks.” He walks to the door and says, “Chris, listen to Buck and don’t eat too much pizza, save some for him!”
“Fine,” Chris says around a mouthful of pizza.
“Love you,” Eddie says before leaving.
Something tugs at his heart hearing Eddie say those words. He shakes his head and removes his jacket, throwing it onto the empty loveseat and heads to the kitchen for a beer.
He plops down next to Chris, swatting his hand away from taking a fourth slice and says, “Hey, wait it out a bit, you already had three. If you’re still hungry in a bit you can have one more.”
Chris sighs. Man, he really is a teenager now. “Okay.”
Buck grabs a slice and watches as Chris sifts through his Netflix profile trying to find something for them to watch.
“There’s too much to choose from,” Chris groans. He looks at Buck, “What do you wanna watch, Buck?”
Buck hums around his mouthful of pizza. He swallows his bite and says, “I don’t know, kiddo. What’s new? Anything you haven’t seen yet but want to? That isn’t too gory or rated R.”
Christopher rolls his eyes before looking back at the TV. He goes to the next row and it’s a list of Netflix Originals.
The first show starts to play a preview and Buck watches it intently—immediately grabbing his attention.
“What’s this?” Buck asks. It says it’s called Heartstopper but he’s never heard of it.
“Heartstopper,” Chris tells him. “Some kids at school talk about it. I never saw it though.”
“It looks appropriate for your age group, wanna give it a shot?” Buck asks him.
“You sound like my dad,” Chris says with another eye roll.
You sound like my dad—that same something pulls at his heartstrings again.
“Well, dad does know best—most of the time,” Buck tells him. “Don’t tell him I said that, he’d gloat too much.”
Christopher laughs, nodding his head in agreement. He starts the show—season 1 episode 1.
Buck can see that the episodes are short so they can probably get through a few episodes before Chris needs to be in bed.
They get through the first episode so quickly and Buck’s hooked. It’s already the sweetest show he’s probably ever seen and it’s only been one episode.
He doesn’t know why but he immediately feels connected to the character Nick Nelson.
“Next episode?” Buck asks, taking the controller and hitting ‘next episode’ before Chris even agrees.
“It’s pretty good so far,” Chris tells him as the second episode starts. “I like the little cartoon leaves and stuff.”
Buck smiles, agreeing.
They get to this episode where Nick’s realizing that maybe he isn’t completely straight. He opens his computer and in Google searches “am I gay?”. Buck smiles watching, a tug pulling on his heart for this character. It’s so sweet and wholesome and it just makes him feel a lot of things right now.
He’s not really sure how it happened but season 1 ended and he can hear keys jingling in the lock before Eddie unlocks the door and tries to be quiet as he makes his way in.
Buck looks next to him and Chris is fast asleep next to him, his legs on Buck’s lap.
“How was it?” Eddie asks and Buck immediately shushes him.
“What?” he asks in a harsh whisper as he makes his way over. He sees Chris asleep on the couch and asks, “Why isn’t he in bed?!”
“We were watching this show and the episodes were so short that we ended up watching the whole first season—or well, I ended up watching it, pretty sure Chris fell asleep halfway through but I can’t be too sure, kinda got sucked into this story,” Buck tells him honestly.
Eddie looks at the screen and sees it paused and can read the name of the show. He doesn’t say anything about it though. He makes his way around the sofa to scoop Chris up.
Chris stays fully asleep and Buck can’t help but smile softly watching Eddie carry a growing Chris to his room. He’s gotten so much bigger in the past six years. He’s not some little kid anymore, he’s a young teen and he’s so smart. Buck loves him so much—loves just being around the both of them so much.
He cleans up while Eddie brings Christopher to his bed and when Eddie joins him, he’s back in the living room grabbing his coat.
Buck doesn’t feel the need to ask about Eddie’s night, knowing that the weird jealous feeling will creep back up so he doesn’t and all he says is, “I should go.”
“Oh,” Eddie says, with what sounds like a hint of disappointment in his tone. “Okay, yeah, I guess it is late.”
Buck hums in agreement. “See you tomorrow,” he tells him before making his way to the door.
Eddie says a quick bye before Buck’s out the door and the cool night air is hitting his face. He tries not to think of Eddie or his night out with Tommy on the drive home, but it’s harder than he thinks.
Buck gets home to a quiet, dark, empty loft and he immediately wishes he didn’t rush out of Eddie’s. Eddie’s place feels more like home than this loft has ever felt.
He heads upstairs to change into comfortable clothes—sweat pants and a hoodie—before going back downstairs. He pours himself a glass of water, chugging down most of it before he goes to the living room.
Buck decides to keep watching Heartstopper since he can’t sleep yet and his shift isn’t too early tomorrow.
He lays down on the sofa, scrolling through Netflix until he finds it. He goes to season 2 and hits play on the first episode.
*
He wakes up with a sore back and sees that he fell asleep on the couch, fuckin’ great.
Buck groans as he lifts himself into a sitting position. He dozed off somewhere in the Paris episodes of season 2 so he tells himself that when he has a free moment he’ll finish the season.
Buck crankily gets ready for work, hoping the hot water will soothe his now aching joints from sleeping on his too small couch.
His mind wanders to the show and one specific character—Nick Nelson.
Nick is the other main character on the show apart from Charlie. Nick in the first season is a boy Charlie starts to crush on, and it’s quickly obvious that Nick is crushing on him too, but that it’s all new to him.
Buck can’t stop thinking about it because he’s realizing that his life is kind of paralleling this fictional story.
Buck met someone that he can’t stop thinking about but it’s all so new. He’s never felt this way about another man before—well, not really but he does check out hot guys asses pretty often, but that’s normal… right?
Buck hurries up as he’s now realizing he’s late for work. He dresses quickly, grabs a banana from the counter and rushes out the door.
In the car ride to work, he continues to think about it…
Is checking out mens asses normal for a guy who has only dated women? Is constantly thinking about a man normal for someone who’s only dated women? Why can’t he stop thinking about this man? What does it all mean?
The scene from Heartstopper pops into his mind where Nick Googles, “am I gay?”.
Buck knows he’s not gay, he’s very much attracted to most women, then it hits him and he hits his brakes a little too hard before pulling into work. How did he not realize this yesterday when watching? He must have been so focused on the show itself that he wasn’t thinking about how it all relates to him then Eddie came back and when he got home he fell asleep on his couch, he hasn’t had a proper minute to fully realize what this all means and—
He’s there for a minute before he hears someone honking behind him.
Buck shakes his head and continues on to park in his usual spot. The car that honked at him pulls up next to him and he sees that it’s Eddie.
Buck doesn’t move, he’s still stuck on his thoughts… it’s all starting to come into place like a puzzle where you have those last few pieces and you just need to put them in their right spot.
Buck jolts at the sound of tapping on his window. He lets out a breath before rolling the window down.
“You ok? What was that?” Eddie asks, concern on his face.
Buck smiles, “Nothing, I’m good,” he says. He rolls the window back up and gets out of his car. Eddie doesn’t push the subject and they just walk into work together like any other day.
“Chris said he had a great time last night, thanks again for babysitting,” Eddie tells him, knocking his shoulder into Buck’s.
Buck shrugs, “Yeah, I did too. Love that kid, you know.”
“I know,” Eddie says with the softest look on his face.
Buck was being rhetorical, Eddie knows Buck loves Chris, he never would have made Buck his legal guardian in his will if he didn’t know that.
“BUCKAROO! Get up here,” Chimney yells from upstairs.
“One sec!” Buck calls back and motions for the lockers. He and Eddie get ready and Buck gets ready quicker than he ever has, and goes to meet Chimney.
It wasn’t anything important, just Bobby wanting help cooking per usual.
Buck gets a few questions throughout the day from everyone if he’s okay and it’s starting to bother him.
He knows Chim is on a 24 hour shift so after work he drives over to see Maddie. He needs to talk to her about everything he’s feeling and these new realizations. He needs to voice them because keeping everything inside is driving him crazy and he just can’t talk about this with Eddie—not right now.
“This is a nice surprise,” Maddie says when she lets him in.
“Sorry, yeah I just needed to talk to someone,” Buck tells her right away, making himself at home.
He tosses his light jacket on the sofa and makes his way around the kitchen island across from where Maddie is sitting, waiting.
“Is everything okay?” she asks, watching him move around.
Buck lets out a short laugh. “Not really sure, honestly.”
“What happened?”
Buck sighs, “So nothing happened, it’s just—I think I’m bisexual?”
“You think?” Maddie asks, not missing a beat. This is why he chose to come to his sister.
“Yeah—” Buck groans. “I don’t know. I mean… yeah, I’m realizing that I’m also attracted to men and that’s gotta mean I’m bisexual right? Like I’m not just straight.”
“Where did all this come from? Is this because of your jealousy over Tommy and Eddie?” Maddie asks, and oof that hit Buck in the gut.
“No—I—maybe?” Buck asks, stuttering.
“Okay, take a deep breath then start at the beginning,” she tells him.
He does as he’s told and says, “So yeah, you know I’ve been feeling some weirdness over this whole Tommy and Eddie friendship, and feeling left out, and I thought it’s because I was jealous because I wanted to hang out with Tommy because the guy’s really cool, I mean, he flew us into a tornado! Like that’s sick as fuck.” Buck takes another breath trying to remember what he wanted to say. “But since last night… I really don’t know what’s going on inside of me. I babysat Chris last night—Eddie and Tommy went to some karaoke thing or whatever—and we were watching this show called Heartstopper—”
Maddie interrupts, “Awww, I loved that show! OH—”
“Oh what?!” Buck asks when she doesn’t elaborate.
“You related to Nick didn’t you? And have been thinking about Eddie maybe in the same way Nick had been thinking of Charlie?” Maddie just drops that on him like it’s nothing and—
“Well, now I am!” Buck says, starting to panic.
“What? Isn’t that where you were going… oh my God, Buck,” Maddie fumbles over her words.
“No! I was going to say that yes, I did relate to Nick in the sense that it made me realize that I might actually be bisexual and checking out other guys asses isn’t a universally straight thing to do, but not about Eddie—I don’t even—he’s not—fuck Maddie!” Buck says, rubbing a hand over his face.
He hears Maddie make her way towards him so he removes his hand from his face. She comes up next to him and takes his hand in both of hers. “Why are you panicking?” she asks calmly.
Buck takes a deep breath. “Because I think you’re right,” he says but it comes out in a whisper.
Maddie smiles at him softly. “Is that a bad thing?” she asks.
“It is if he doesn’t—Eddie is straight,” Buck tells her.
“How do you know? Evan… you just figured out you’re bisexual. Eddie might not know what he might be because he maybe hasn’t ever questioned it,” Maddie explains.
She hasn’t called him Evan in a while but it didn’t bother him. It actually makes him feel good, like he can start to accept that part of himself again without relating it to their awful parents and their constant disappointment in him.
“I can’t like Eddie that way,” he says softly, shaking his head.
Maddie sighs, “You’re afraid of losing what you guys have now.”
Buck nods once. His heart hurts, why is his heart hurting?
“Buck…” she says softly. He looks at her so she continues, “Sweetie, you won’t ever know unless you try.”
“Maddie, I can’t—he’s not… he’s with Marisol,” he reminds her.
“Just talk to him? Maybe just about what you’ve realized… that you’re bisexual. See how that goes. Take it step by step. Whatever you’re feeling about Eddie, you’ll tell him on your own time,” she tells him.
Buck nods, agreeing. He does want to speak to Eddie about this—regardless of whatever he might be feeling toward him, he’s still his best friend and he doesn’t want to lie to him, not about who he is.
*
It takes a few days but when he spots Eddie in the gym working out he figures now's as good a time as any.
He doesn’t get to speak much as Eddie starts talking about Marisol’s move—he completely forgot Eddie even told him that—and how she used to be a nun and there’s this box of Catholic guilt lying dormant in a box in his room.
That statement makes Buck think that maybe Eddie has a lot more going on under the surface, stuff they never even really spoke about.
With everything he’s said, this is not the time to come out to him.
He just listens to his best friend and tries to offer some advice.
*
The next day after work, Buck’s home doing nothing when there’s a knock on his door.
It’s Eddie.
“Hey man, can I come in?” he asks.
“Hey, uh yeah of course,” Buck tells him, letting him in.
“Sorry I didn’t call first, I needed to get out of the house… this whole thing with Marisol—it’s weird, I don’t know what to do anymore,” Eddie tells him as he takes a seat on one of the stools.
Buck gets them a beer each, placing one in front of Eddie. He takes a seat on the stool next to him. They open their beers and take swig.
“Were you busy or something?” Eddie asks, looking around but not seeing anything.
“No, no, was just here thinking…” Buck says with a small laugh.
“What?” Eddie asks him, smiling but he’s looking at him like he really wants to know.
Here it goes…
Buck takes a breath before he says, “I’ve been kinda going something recently… um—some realizations.”
Eddie sits there patiently watching him, waiting for more. Buck has never felt more nervous.
“You can tell me anything, Buck,” Eddie says suddenly.
That makes Buck smile.
“I’m bisexual,” Buck says then. “I’ve been having these weird feelings recently because of— well, it doesn’t matter why, but after watching Heartstopper with Christopher, there was this character who I couldn’t help but feel like I related so much to, and that’s never really happened before. You know I’m not big on series and TV unless it’s sports or video games,” this makes Eddie chuckle and nod in agreement, “—but I don’t know things have been really clicking into place and this feels right, like I’ve always been attracted to women and men but I thought that was normal? I guess it’s not… I don’t know.”
“There’s nothing abnormal about you, Buck,” Eddie says sternly, like he really needs Buck to know this.
Buck nods. He ducks his head slightly and asks, “Is this weird for you?”
“No,” he says instantly. “Not at all.”
Buck nods, feeling relieved like a weight just got lifted from his chest.
“I’m— I’m glad,” he says with a small laugh.
“This doesn’t change anything between us,” Eddie says, looking at him intently.
Buck tries to not let the hurt show on his face so he just nods. He didn’t think this would automatically make Eddie realize he might also have some feelings for him… he doesn’t really know why he feels sad. This is good. Eddie isn’t going anywhere. That’s all that matters right now.
Eddie chugs the rest of his beer before putting it back down. He sighs deeply. “I should talk to Marisol,” he says.
Buck nods, watching as Eddie gets up and starts to head for the door.
Eddie turns around and says, “Come here,” as he makes his way back.
Buck laughs, standing and going in to hug Eddie. They hug tightly for longer than usual, and it feels so nice, warm and safe.
They let go and Eddie says, “I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” his hand still on Bucks shoulder.
Buck smiles and nods. Eddie smiles back before leaving.
Buck feels himself blushing but he can’t help it. That felt really good. He came out to his best friend and it went really well.
He wants to tell Maddie but he doesn’t want Chimney to know yet. He’s not sure if he’s ready for everyone to know right away.
*
It’s been about a week since he came out to Eddie. They’ve had a few shifts together and he’s been his regular same self towards him so things truly haven’t changed between them.
Buck’s happy about that. Eddie means so much to him—he doesn’t want to do anything that’ll ruin the bond that they have. It’s the only constant in Buck’s life and he can’t lose that.
It’s Buck’s day off. He starts the day with a protein shake before he goes to his usual gym. He spends a couple hours there, getting out some extra pent up energy out of his system.
He’s able to have a FaceTime call with Maddie to tell her how the conversation with Eddie went last week since he hasn’t had a chance to tell her since it happened.
He’s showered and toweling himself off when he gets an incoming FaceTime from Eddie.
“Shit,” he mumbles, re-tying the towel around his waist. He quickly answers the call.
“Hey,” he says a little breathlessly.
“Were you in the shower?” Eddie asks, eyeing his naked chest.
Buck runs his free hand through his wet hair. “No, well, I just got out, was just about to get dressed—uh, what’s up?”
Buck can’t help but notice Eddie’s eyes wandering from his and down then back up. Is he checking me out?
“I’d like to talk to you about something… do you think you could come over?” Eddie asks him nervously.
Buck hesitates for a second, wondering what he has to talk to him about but then he replies quickly, “Of course, just let me just get dressed and I’ll be right over.”
“You sure? You don’t have like a hot date or something?” Eddie teases.
Buck flips him off making Eddie laugh. “I’ll see you soon,” he tells him.
“Okay, just let yourself in when you’re here,” Eddie says before ending the call.
Buck tosses his phone on his bed and gets himself read and if he makes sure he looks extra good that’s no one’s business but his own.
The sun is about to set by the time he makes it to Eddie’s and as he said, Buck lets himself inside his house. As he does so he calls out, “Eddie?”
Buck closes the door and sees Eddie making his way from the kitchen with two beers.
“Perfect timing, I just took these out,” he says, meeting Buck halfway and handing him a beer.
Eddie makes his way to the sofa, he takes a seat and takes a sip of his beer.
Buck tries to act natural by doing the same but he can’t stop thinking about what Eddie wants to tell him. He’s nervous it’s about last week and he’s not sure if that’s a good nervous or a bad one.
Buck holds his beer in his lap, he’s slightly turned facing Eddie. He’s about to say something—cut the tension before Eddie interrupts him with, “Marisol moved out.”
This takes Buck back. “Didn’t she just move in?” He asks, confused.
“Yeah…” Eddie says simply before taking a sip of his beer. He puts it on the coffee table as he says. “It’s not working—I rushed into it, like usual. I act too impulsively when it comes to relationships and I realized I was doing that with Marisol too,” Eddie explains.
“So are you guys—“
“We broke up,” Eddie confirms. He shrugs. Looking at Buck, he says, “She wanted to start over… it just didn’t feel right to me.”
Buck watches Eddie, notices a shift, and then it clicks. “This isn’t because of what I told you last week, is it?” He asks, his thoughts the whole way here were of that.
Eddie shifts nervously in his seat, turning himself more so to face Buck. “Yes and no,” he answers honestly.
“What does that mean?” Buck asks, his voice just above a whisper.
Eddie meets his eyes and says, “No, because I knew this relationship with Marisol wasn’t right. Like I said, I rushed into it,” he shrugs. “After Ana, I didn’t think I’d meet someone who fit the needs I thought I had—a potential mother for Christopher, a wife to me. Then I met Marisol and thought that she was attractive and kind, and well, clearly Catholic and she’s Latina. I thought that I had another jackpot after Ana. Someone that my parents would be proud that I found, especially after Shannon.”
He takes a breath and his big brown eyes land on Buck’s again, and Buck finds himself holding his breath in that moment, waiting for Eddie to keep going.
“And yes, what you said last week—coming out to me… I didn’t expect it.”
Buck furrows his brows about to say something but Eddie continues quickly, “I didn’t expect it because I didn’t let myself think about there ever being a possibility for us to happen,” Eddie says and Buck finds himself releasing that breath.
Before Buck can think of what to say back, Eddie bites his lip nervously before continuing, not holding back, “Since I was in high school—maybe even younger—I thought about guys at school the way guys spoke about the girls in school. I knew that was wrong. My parents—my dad—he instilled in me to be a good, honorable, strong, Catholic man and marry a nice Latina girl and have lots of babies. Shannon and I were good friends since we were kids and I knew she liked me so I asked her to be my girlfriend. We dated and when she got pregnant with Chris at 18, I was told that the only right thing to do was marry her.”
“Oh Eddie…” Buck says softly. This strong man who he has seen fight fires and survive shootings, and save countless people, has been silently fighting who he is because of guilt. He reaches out to touch Eddie’s knee without thinking about it and before he can remove it he sees Eddie look down at Buck’s hand on his knee and a small smile form on Eddie’s lips before he looks back up at him.
He removes his hand then and Eddie continues, “You know… Marisol being a nun—that just brought all of the Catholic guilt I have had for the past two decades right up to the surface and that’s why it’s not only what you said to me for me to end it with her, this was that final nail to make me realize this isn’t the type of relationship I want,” Eddie tells him, his soft eyes on him. He’s being vulnerable and open in a way Buck has not seen yet before. It’s similar but there’s a new something added in—a good something.
“What type of relationship do you want?” Buck finds himself asking—hoping.
Eddie tilts his head slightly, a soft smile on his lips. Buck finds himself smirking, falling back into this flirty banter they’ve had since they met. Buck’s been thinking about and remembering all of their time together, and how he felt during those moments, wondering if he can see anything and he could. He remembers moments where it felt flirty but he didn’t know at the time if that was just playful teasing or real flirting. He realized that they were being flirty subconsciously.
“I just need more time,” Eddie says after a moment—an electric moment between them, a moment that tells Buck he knows exactly what type of relationship he wants. “This is all very new and I haven’t had a lot of time to think about things and really understand what I’m feeling yet.”
“I completely understand, Eds. I’m in the same boat… literally,” Buck says, making them laugh.
“I don’t want to rush anything like usual because that doesn’t work out for me, and this—“ Eddie starts to say.
Buck puts his hand on his knee again because he can—he did it once and Eddie seemed to like it—and says, “You’re too important for me to lose. You and Christopher—“
“You could never lose us,” Eddie cuts him off, putting his hand on top of Buck’s.
Buck takes his hand and squeezes it. He holds his hand in Eddie’s lap and smiles down at the sight. He has an idea.
Buck looks up to meet Eddie’s eyes that are already on him and says—flirting, “Do you want to go on a date with me?”
Eddie laughs, he’s got a grin on his face. “Like just date?”
“Just date. We already know each other really well—you’re my best friend but now we have to… you know, get more romantic with it, so yeah, do you wanna go on dates with me?” Buck asks, a smile on his face, watching Eddie and feeling the weight of his hand clasped in his.
Eddie’s blushing and it’s really cute. He can’t help but give him this smile. Eddie looks away and says, “You can’t smile at me like that, it’s making me want to give you literally anything you want.”
Buck’s ears perk up and he finds him sitting up, and smirking as he teases, “Oh is that so?”
Eddie rolls his eyes and pushes him back at his shoulder, lazily with his free hand. “Where are you taking me?” He asks, making Buck grin.
Buck leans into the back of the couch, pulling his leg up to lean it against Eddie’s as they sit facing each other, legs touching, holding hands. Buck did not think this was how today was going to go. This feels so right.
“First of all, when is your next day off?” Buck asks.
Eddie watches him, with bright eyes, and a small smile on his lips. It’s the cutest thing Buck has ever seen.
“I work tomorrow and that starts 5 days on, so, next day off is on Tuesday,” Eddie informs him.
“Looks like we’re on the same rotation,” Buck smiles. “I’ll take you out for a nice dinner that night and we’ll go do something fun—maybe bowling, whatever you want.”
Eddie squeezes his hand, smiling softly. He smirks, “You just want to look at my ass all night,” he teases.
Buck laughs, you have no idea.
“Absolutely,” he teases right back. He blushes, taking his hand out of Eddie's, he rubs the back of his neck. He admits, “Truthfully, I’ve been checking your ass out ever since we met, you know like every now and then.”
Eddie laughs, “Yeah cause it was totally normal huh?”
Buck gasps, he shoves Eddie’s shoulder. “Exactly,” he smirks.
Eddie smiles, watching Buck. There’s a moment where they're both silent before Eddie shifts slightly, and clears his throat. “Do you wanna watch a movie or something?” He asks, shyly, looking back at Buck.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” Buck says softly. His heart feels like it’s bursting in his chest.
Eddie picks his beer up, taking a long sip. He puts it back down then looks at Buck and says, “Okay, I’m gonna use the washroom and get us more beer, you can pick the movie.”
Buck gasps, “Really?” He looks up at Eddie who’s just gotten up.
“Don’t make me regret it,” Eddie teases before he heads to the washroom.
Buck turns the TV on and opens up Prime—there’s a movie he already has been wanting to watch with Eddie so he takes the opportunity to choose it.
Buck hears Eddie heading to the kitchen and there’s something he knows he wants to do to break some of the tension between them but he just hopes it won’t scare Eddie off.
He makes his way to the kitchen with their empty beer bottles and finds Eddie taking two more out of the fridge.
Eddie turns to see him entering the kitchen and says, “You didn’t have to bring those.”
“It’s okay,” Buck tells him, setting them down on the counter next to the new bottles Eddie took out.
Buck faces Eddie, who’s now leaning against the fridge. He’s close but—Buck takes a step closer to him and Eddie watches him, his arms crossed over his chest. He has a soft look in his eye, it looks like he’s okay with how close he is.
“There’s something I wanted to try…” Buck says, softly, placing a hand on Eddie’s crossed arms.
Eddie uncrosses his arms and lets Buck take that final step closer. He nods his head softly before Buck puts his finger under Eddie’s chin and lifts it slightly. He places a soft kiss to Eddie’s lips, and feels Eddie’s hand come up to hold his arm.
Buck melts into the kiss, parting his lips slightly. He feels Eddie’s tongue gently slip into his mouth and this is probably—no, this is definitely the best kiss he’s ever had.
Buck moans softly into it, and feels Eddie’s hand going down to his waist and pulling him closer until they’re touching even more.
Buck pulls away slightly, biting his own bottom lip as he looks at Eddie. He wants to devour him right now but—
“We should probably—” Buck says softly before Eddie says, “In a second.” Eddie kisses Buck one more time, not as intensely but still a soft, sweet, perfect kiss—Buck melts right into it.
Eddie pulls back, smiling softly. “Grab the beers?”
Buck laughs, pulling away from Eddie, giving them both some space. He grabs the beers and sees Eddie making his way out of the kitchen. Buck is quick to follow him.
Eddie closes the overhead light in favor of a lamp to give the room a better movie atmosphere as Buck settles on the couch.
Eddie joins him, his new beer in hand. Buck puts his beer down after a long swig to grab the remote and press play on the movie he chose.
Eddie settles into the sofa and says softly, “C’mere.”
Buck looks at him and he’s nodding towards the spot right next to him, with his arm outstretched, beer in his other hand.
Buck smiles, and settles in close right next to Eddie, his arm around him.
Buck never thought he’d be cuddling with Eddie watching a movie but here he is, and he couldn’t have asked for anything better.
