Reunion Redux

Summary:

I know I already wrote a fic with this premise, but I got this vision and I just *had* to write it

Takes place after the box

Notes:

This is just quick and dirty, no beta, sorry if it's clunky, had to get this idea out

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

When Chosen came to, all he could see was darkness. He could feel the visor Victim had used to invade his mind still pressing against his face, acting as if it were a blindfold.

He wasn't sure what had woken him until he heard it again, a light scraping against the floor. Someone was in there with him. Chosen's heart sank, what were they going to do to him now?

He heard footsteps approaching, slowly, cautiously, as if the one making them was nervous. Internally, Chosen scoffed. What could they have to be nervous about? He was the one who was trapped, helpless.

Just as he'd been all those years ago.

He felt a hand grip the chair, and he tensed, preparing for some kind of blow, but instead, the other person merely tilted him back upright, taking care as if they were trying to not hurt him.

Chosen then felt a hand brush against his face, and flinched away from the touch, inadvertently scooting the chair backwards by a few inches. The other person paused for a few moments, as if apprehensive, before Chosen felt hands on the visor, detaching it from his face and pulling it free.

It took him a few moments to adjust to the brightness, but once he did, Chosen saw Dark standing there in front of him, the visor held in a white knuckle grip.

After a moment of staring, Dark dropped the visor to the floor and began untying the ropes holding Chosen in place. As the ropes began to fall away, Dark stepped back as Chosen loosened the noose from around his neck. He carefully flexed his fingers, hands, arms, trying to shake off any lingering numbness. He didn't dare to try standing yet.

All the while, he couldn't take his eyes off Dark. He was standing there, gaze just as intense on Chosen, apprehension evident in the body language Chosen knew so well, and Chosen knew he appeared the same.

It was impossible to tell how long they were staring, but Dark was the first to break his gaze, extending a hand towards Chosen.

Chosen ignored it, instead launching himself off the chair and wrapping his arms around Dark, leaning into him heavily as his legs nearly gave out from under him. Though Dark was caught off guard, he was quick to recover, standing steadily and wrapping his arms around Chosen in return.

Chosen's shoulders shook once, as he buried his face into Dark's shoulder, ignoring the dampness coming from his eyes. Though neither of them said a word, the emotions hung heavy in the air, as clear as morning sunlight.

I missed you

Notes:

My brain kinda came up with this as a "this could be how the next part of AVA 6 could open"

CLEARLY, it's not what's actually gonna happen, but man I wish it was. Guess you could call this wishful thinking

Chosen needs a hug
