Understanding Someone Is Way Too Hard (Please Just Hold Me)

Summary:

Sakura Haruka is a strange being.

That's what Suo thought the first time he saw him.

(That's probably what he still thinks about him.)

or: Suo is head over heels for Sakura but is too scared about his own feelings to admit it. Lucky for him, Sakura is just as much a teenager mess as he is.

Notes:

Hi. This is me, writing my own stories about SuoSaku because there is not enough content about them.
Or this is me using this excuse to write about Sakura through Suo's pov because I love them too much.

Anyway, I really love wind breaker and I hope you guys will love this as much as I do ^^
(English is not my first language, please be kind about it)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sakura Haruka is a strange being.

That's what Suo thought the first time he saw him.

(That's probably what he still thinks about him.)

Sakura Haruka is a unique person. A wild beast with a heart of gold. A broken mind (just like him). A tortured boy with a difficult past, a boy who tried to stay far away from everything that could heat up his cold demeanor but still shine and blush like a sun when someone gives him affection.

He's that shadow Suo decided to follow like nothing else matters. He's that guy with an eye colored by the sun and an eye colored by the moon. He's that guy with black hair, black like his gaze when someone he cares about gets hurt, black like his face when someone insults Furin, black like those words he spits when he's angered about the behavior of stupid people.

But he also has white hair. White like those stars his eyes hold when he eats Kotoha's rice omelet, white like these very rare but bright smiles he sometimes grants them, white like this pure and kind hearted way to say everything he thinks ─ which is the exact opposite of Suo, who finds comfort into hiding his real emotions behind that dull grin he so quickly mastered. But those days, when Nirei gives him the brightest smiles when he succeeds some fighting moves, when Kiryu shows him the last music video he saw on the internet with stars in his eyes, when Tsugeura talks and talks about new routines he discovered, or when Sugishita try to act like he doesn't care when he does, Suo feels like his smile is real. Genuine.

And of course, it is real when Sakura is around. When Sakura use that magical language of his to heal people bruises (and hearts), when Sakura blushes because he seemingly doesn't know what affection is, when Sakura talks about things he likes (he doesn't do it often), when Sakura fights, when Sakura smiles, when Sakura laughs... Suo is real in those moments.

Also Suo might never admit it out loud, but deep down he knows that those heterochromia eyes and those bicolore braids and those cocky and amused smiles make his heart and head run all over the place. He still doesn't really know why, though.

Sakura Haruka is also that stranger Suo saw for the first time when he entered Furin class of second 1 stating that he will sit at the top of the school before fighting Sugishita with a confident smile. He's that guy Suo saw blush strongly when the villagers gave him presents for protecting them the first day he arrived in the neighborhood. He's that boy Suo saw fight fiercely against Togame and bound with him, to the point of protecting him when Choji beat him. To the point of Togame being willing to go and protect Sakura when he needed it.

It was difficult for Suo, to understand how enemies can become friends so quickly. But then he saw the fight, he saw Sakura, he saw that glint in his heterochromia eyes, and Suo understood. Yes, he understood how can someone be so committed to Sakura so quickly, because he felt the exact same pull.

Maybe it's a kind of Sakura effect?

Sakura Haruka was just able to make people feel drawn to him in a way Suo never experienced before. Maybe it's because of this beautiful and nearly naive honesty of his, this honesty that makes him say he doesn't care when he, in fact, does. Suo wishes he could be that honest, sometimes. But seeing Sakura being honest is somehow enough for him, for now.

However Suo understood, quite easily, that Sakura didn't have an easy life. He also understood that Sakura probably experienced the burden of loneliness through his entire life, and he still does when he comes back to that dark and creepy apartment of his. When Nirei and him went to see him back in the time their captain was sick, Suo felt a tiny (really tiny) hint of pain in his heart.

Sakura who is always first to fight, Sakura who is always first to help, lives alone in a cramped apartment. And since that day, Suo was surprised to notice that he started to ask himself some questions.

Has Sakura always been alone? Why is he renting that apartment by himself? How is he renting it by himself?

Is it why he's so reluctant to trust people and lean on them?

Suo can't really be mad or angry about this situation (well, deep down he is), for the simple fact that he too knows very well what being alone feels like. Maybe not in the exact same aspect as Sakura, because loneliness can be experienced in very different ways, but he still knows how it feels to have nothing to rely on. To have no one to listen to your complaints and nothing to be attached to.

So he can understand why Sakura has difficulties opening up to them. That doesn't mean he accepts it. Least of all likes it.

But he chose, after that first day entering Sakura's intimacy and after discovering that his hot-headed leader is perhaps a person way more complex than he thought, to continue to follow him. To continue to learn about him and most of all help him. And he found himself becoming quite protective about his captain, even almost possessive sometimes. Maybe (probably), because he doesn't want people to see that fragile and intimate part he and Nirei witnessed. This sick and vulnerable Sakura was for his eye only.

Well, Nirei too, but Nirei is and always will be the exception. Suo doesn't feel committed to him like he feels about Sakura, but he grew an unexpected and strong want to help and protect the blond and clumsy boy. Just like a big brother, or a devoted teacher.

Or like the friend he never had-

Still, Suo doesn't know why he feels so committed to that bicolore headed teenager, or why he feels so drawn to him. But, strangely, he doesn't feel bad or stressed about it. Because he trusts Sakura, and he knows that following him will not lead him on the wrong path. He's sure about it.

"Suo?"

Once again his mind transformed his own voice in Sakura's harsh but sweet tone. But it was too real to be imagined, so Suo understood quite quickly that it wasn't his own mind, it was actually Sakura calling him.

And because Suo is that kind of vice-captain that answers right away when he's called (or because he wants to hear Sakura talk more), he quickly moves his only eye to lock his gaze in Sakura's.

His captain is here right in front of him, looking at him with that complicated expression he makes when he doesn't understand something right away. They're in their class, Suo rightfully sitting before his desk and Sakura sitting in front of him, leaning against Suo's desk. His hand was supporting his face while his deep sun and moon like eyes were staring at him (or more like staring at his soul).

The class was loud, like every other day. Their friends and classmates were talking about everything and nothing, and Suo decided, when he entered that same class this morning, to go to his own desk and let his thoughts flow and wander. Looking outside and letting some sunny ray fall against his face while his brown-red eye was people-watching, letting the translucent curtains flying around him thanks to the wide open windows.

But then Sakura arrived, and so Suo wasn't able to focus on anything else.

"Kinda rare to see you doze off like that."

He spoke again. That amused smile widened, and became true, real, because it was Sakura who was talking.

"I, too, have a mind and secrets to explore sometimes."

Sakura hums, staring at him with those two different colored pearls. Suo thought he will probably fall hard for this magnificent gaze some day. And when Sakura was like that, his demeanor nonchalant but his eyes interested, in front of him with sun rays falling against his black and white locks and eyes shining, Suo was thinking that this day might arrive sooner than expected.

Sakura looked at him a little more, and then turned his face back to observe the loud classroom filled with laughter and conversations.

"I guess I sometimes forget that you're human too."

That makes Suo laugh. Like, sincerely laugh. Because no one was ever brave enough to imply that he wasn't human, when everyone was thinking so. But Sakura was honest. Oh so very honest.

"Sorry to disappoint you, I am in fact human."

"Didn't you say you have some demonic power the first time I saw you?"

"I also said I was Leonardo DiCaprio. And even if I like the comparison, I believe you noticed that I'm not actually a foreigner."

Sakura grumbled, and Suo chuckled. He really liked to see that unamused and grumpy expression of his.

"You really like to lie don't you..."

This sentence wasn't really mean. It was probably even mean as a joke, really. But Suo took it like a slap in the face, and his smile became less real.

For some reason, Sakura turned to look at him. He made that expression again, when he's upset with something (most of the time, he's upset with himself) and then goes back to observe the classroom.

"I trust you though."

And then, Suo's smile is real again.

They stay a little like that, in a relative silence. There's no real need for conversation between them. With time, Suo understood that Sakura can be really quiet when he wants to, he's just impulsive and hot-headed, so if someone comes to talk to him he will automatically respond. But Suo isn't like that, he likes to tease, he likes to joke, but he also likes the silence. Especially if the silence permits him to observe Sakura's sharp jawline and profile.

Sakura doesn't seem to bother with that fixate gaze on him. Maybe because he knows that it's Suo, or maybe because he's used to people staring at him. Suo doesn't want to think that it's making him uncomfortable, but his demeanor is relaxed and his eyes kind when he looks at Nirei talking energetically with Kiryu. So Suo knows he doesn't mind.

Then his gaze goes down and he pauses to look at those two bruised hands.

"You didn't treat it."

Sakura's bicolore eyes and attention are back on him. For some reason, Suo loves that.

"Your hands."

Sakura raised an eyebrow. Suo's grin accentuated, but it's without joy.

"You haven't treated your hands since this morning right?"

Sakura seemed to finally understand. This morning, when the bicolore-haired was on his way to Furin high school, he crossed path with Nirei. Of course he went to him and was about to do the rest of the walking with him, but he stopped right away when he saw a bruise on his cheek.

"Who did that?"

No hello, no good morning, just a deep and kind of scary stare that made Nirei understand that lying wasn't an option. Of course the blond boy could have said that it was his training with Suo, but Sakura knew very well Suo would never seriously bruise him, even to teach him. But those bruises, those coloring Nirei's face and hiding his pretty freckles, they were serious. Just like the vice-captain stressed and anxious expression.

Nirei then confessed that some guys randomly went to him and beat him up. He understood that it was some kind of revenge of Keel, Nirei being targeted because he was the weakest of them all, and when Sakura heard that phrase he went mad. To the point of skipping the beginning of class to go and beat those guys himself.

When Nirei told his classmate that, everyone was kind of upset that Sakura went to do all the work himself. Part of it because they don't like to see their captain acting so recklessly and leaving him alone, and part of it because in a short period of time Nirei became the little protégé of this class. Anyone touching him was sure to see the whole class come and fight them to the core.

And maybe, just maybe, Suo was still a little upset that Nirei and Sakura didn't tell him. Of course he understands that this happened in the heat of the moment and that it wasn't big enough for the whole class to come since Sakura took care of it himself without getting a single bruise (except his hands for, according to Nirei, hitting too hard). But still. They could've told him, he's also a vice-captain. Anyways, it's not like Suo feels left out.

Well, maybe he does feel a little left out.

And maybe that's why he didn't greet his two friends when they arrived in class later this morning.

And maybe again, that's why Sakura sat in front of him right now.

Suo knows it's a little childish, but he always had a silly mind. And with the fact that Sakura is talking to him normally and sitting with him, he knows that the bicolore doesn't mind.

"You're still mad?"

Well. Maybe he does mind a little.

"Mad? I was never mad." Suo answered, still smiling slightly. Sakura gave him one of those looks saying he knows it's not true and Suo sighed. "I promise, Sakura-kun. It's not like you did this on purpose, you didn't have time to inform me beforehand. And it wasn't big enough for you to need my help."

"Why are you doing this face then?"

Suo slightly raised his head and dived once again in those sun and moon colored pupils.

"What face?"

"That face you make when you're upset."

Suo was a little taken aback. Does he make a face when he's upset? He's pretty sure he never showed any emotions other than amusement and interest, except mockery sometimes, and anger only once against Keel.

"I don't make a face when I'm upset."

"You do." and oh. Sakura is smiling, that smug and cocky smile Suo learned to love so much. "And you were pretty upset this morning when Nirei told y'all the story. You didn't even go and talk to him, apart from asking him if he was okay. He thought you were angry with him or something."

Ah. Suo must admit that he felt a little embarrassed upon hearing those words. He made a mental note to go and apologies to Nirei about his childish behavior.

"I didn't know I had a face."

Sakura must have understood that it was his form of an apology because his smile became more genuine, and he nodded, probably both to answer him and acknowledge his implicit apologies.

"You still could've at least informed me of the matter. I'm a vice-captain too."

"Wasn't necessary. They really weren't that tough, loud and weak bastards. The type of guys I hate the most."

Suo sneered slightly hearing those words. He kind of liked whenever Sakura was showing that aggressive side of him.

"And I've your number now right? So don't worry about it too much. If I didn't call you that was because it wasn't needed."

Hearing that, Suo felt his heart warm up a little.

I have your number now right?

Yes, he does have it.

"Okay okay captain. Sorry for my bad behavior."

Sakura rolled his eyes, and Suo laughed slightly. A new silence, a little more comfortable than the last one, took place between them. Sakura continued to observe his class with that interested look, and Suo continued to observe Sakura with that more than interested look.

"They didn't come for you too did they?"

It took some time for Suo to understand what his friend meant. But he got it quickly, and his heart felt warm again.

Sakura didn't turn his head to look at him, but the eye-patched guy noticed his expression darkening. There were no more stars in those unique irises and no more smile on that beautifully sculpted face.

"If they did, they wouldn't be able to get up to tell people about it."

At that, Sakura looked at him. And it's like Suo was able to breathe again. Like he was able to think and talk and breathe and feel when he had that heterochromatic gaze for him only.

"They didn't come for you too, did they?"

His voice was a little deeper. He talked slowly and kept his eyes locked on Suo's one and only pupils.

Oh, how much he would've given to kiss him right here and now.

"No, Sakura..." Suo was kind of surprised to hear his own voice so soft. Like he wanted nothing more than to reassure his captain. "They didn't come. And they won't, not after seeing you beat up those trashs."

Suo saw that his words had a direct and quick effect. Sakura's body was less tense and his eyes less dark, losing that fierce rage he probably contained since the incident this morning. And Suo found some type of satisfaction seeing the influence he could have on Sakura's mood just with some simple words.

"Your hands need treatment."

Sakura seemed startled, like he forgot about the beginning of their conversation. But Suo didn't, and he was rather determined on treating those freaking hands.

"I don't care about those things."

"But I do."

Sakura looked away with what Suo liked to call a pout, and he was happy to see those cheeks becoming pink once again.

"I told you I don't need that. I'm used to my hands being bruised and I never treat them. They still hit as hard as they used to, so don't worry about it."

Those words didn't ease up Suo the slightest, they even made him more worried. He knows, he knows that Sakura had a hard past. But why is it that nobody was there to take care of those hands and heart of gold? Why is it that people who didn't need treatment and affection (like Suo) have them, but people who need them didn't?

"Please let me take care of you."

Suo didn't really plan to say this out loud. And seeing Sakura's now surprised face, widened eyes and blushing face, he didn't plan to hear that either.

"W-What are you saying right now!?"

"Come on Sakura-kun." Suo hid his loud beating heart with an amused smile. "I'm your vice-captain right? I have to take care of you then."

Those cheeks became even more pink (that was close to red at this point) and Suo was once again stunned by how quick Sukura's behavior could change. How can he go from his tough and badass leader mode from this blushing mess that easily?

Suo would probably never be tired of teasing him because fuck. Sakura was adorable like this.

Seeing that the taller's smile became more and more amused, Sakura quickly turned his flushed face away, once again displaying this embarrassed air of his.

"Do what you want..."

Suo's grin widened because he (once again) had what he wanted. He then got up from his seat and walked away, heading to the teacher desk to take the medical kit in it. Knowing that Furin isn't a common high school, each class had an aid kit for when the fights became a little too much (class second 1 was, without surprise, using it a little too much). Turning to go back to his seat, Suo passed next to Nirei once again ranting about some gangsters he took note on, and stopped to put a hand in his blond locks and ruffle them affectionately. The smaller guy raised his head and the way his face lit up with a bright smile upon seeing who was messing with his hair made Suo feel even more guilty about being distant in the first place.

But being an adult was all about making mistakes and resolving them.

"Sorry for earlier. I was a little upset you guys didn't call me about it."

"No worries Suo-san!" Nirei answered with his big smile, and Suo saw Tsugeura and Kiryu laughing slightly. Nirei probably told them he was worried. "I told Sakura-san it was better to call you but he said it wasn't necessary. I think it was probably because he wanted to beat them up himself..."

"That would be like him." Kiryu said, grinning slightly.

"Since he took care of them without even being hurt that shows he, in fact, didn't need us." Intervened Tsugeura while crossing his arms on his chest.

"You're right." Suo smiled. "But I'm not mad at you Nirei, nor am I with Sakura. Sorry, it was childish of me to act like that and ignore you."

"No no, I understand why you were upset..."

"To be honest I was just like you a few minutes ago, but Nirei explained to us so everything ended in a good way!" Kiryu smiled joyfully and Suo nodded.

"Is the kit for Sakura?" asked Tsugeura, losing his smile a little. "I thought he wasn't hurt..."

"He isn't really, but his hands are a little bruised."

"Our hot-headed captain went hard to protect his little vice-captain, didn't he?"

Nirei blushed a little hearing Kiryu's words and looked away, the pink-haired boy cooing while pocking Nirei's cheek.

"He really went too hard..." smiled Suo.

"But lucky for him, he has his devoted second vice-captain to take care of him right?"

Suo turned his piercing gaze to Kiryu and looked at him with an emotionless smile. But the pink-haired answered by a grin even wider.

"Please take great care of him!"

Any trace of warning or threat immediately disappeared from Suo's expression and he gave him a sincere smile in return.

"Will do."

With that, Suo decided to go, not without ruffling Nirei's hair one last time, heading back to his seat. When he sat back on his chair, he saw Sakura opening his closed eyes to look at him and smile a little.

"You apologized?"

"I have nothing to apologize about."

Sakura snorted and closed his eyes again. Okay, so Sakura was becoming more and more immunized against his lies. Suo didn't really know if it was a good or bad thing.

Once again diving into a comfortable silence, Suo placed the kit on the desk and began to order everything to have disinfectant on a cotton. Then, with controlled gestures and all the care in the world, he took Sakura's hand in his and began to apply the cotton on his bruises.

Sakura hissed a little, but he rapidly became quiet about it. The itching wasn't probably as bad as the pain of punching someone's face that hard, so he became used to it in a short amount of time, letting Suo heal him in silence.

They stayed like that a rather long time. Suo didn't really know how long, he was too focused on the touch of Sakura's hand against his. The bicolore-haired kept his eyes closed, face rested and expression peaceful, listening to the ruckus of the class. Suo, on the other hand, had all of his attention on one and only man: the one in front of him.

With Sakura being so comfortable in his care, he let his mind wander to dangerous thoughts. Like maybe one day Sakura will be entirely peaceful with him to the point of opening up totally and telling him all his secrets. But wouldn't that mean that he'll have to do the same in return?

Maybe if it was for Sakura, Suo could take the risk.

"You're weird sometimes."

His favorite sound rang in his head and he looked up once again, seeing Sakura still with his eyes closed, the sun raining on him and the wind coming from the wide open windows making his bicolored locks flying around his peaceful face.

"I can't understand you, most of the time."

Suo smiled and looked down on the bruised hand in his. He stopped his movements and sighed a little.

"You don't necessarily need to understand someone to be close to them. Give me your other hand."

At that, Sakura opened his eyes, long and bichrome lashes fluttering, and locked his gaze in Suo's. They stayed like that maybe a little too long because Sakura looked away, his cheeks taking that hint of pink Suo loved a little too much. The captain then removed his hand which held his face to put it on the desk, in front of Suo.

"That's true..."

"But you do need to open up to them at some point."

Sakura raised an eyebrow and Suo kept his little smile, starting to treat the other hand. It's like every time they touched Suo was feeling sparkles on his skin. And maybe it was a little too romantic for him, but it wasn't his fault Sakura was making him feel all those kinds of things.

That was very teenager of him to think like that...

"Open up?"

"Yes. The closer you get to someone, the more you have to open up to them."

"Who're you talking about? You or me?"

Red-brown eye and heterochromia iris meet again. Suo's smile accentuated a little, feeling his whole being warm up.

It's true. Who was he talking about?

"Who knows..."

Sakura snorted again.

"If you want me to open up to you more, that means you have to do the same, right? Or are you implying that we're already close enough?"

Hearing those words, Suo tensed up.

Does that mean Sakura wanted them to become even closer...?

No. That's your wish, not his. He's doing this because he's a good guy. A great guy and a great leader who takes care of his classmates as if they were his family.

But that means I'm also part of this family, right... ?

Letting go of Sakura's hand, the taller closed the medical kit and placed it on the floor before raising his gaze in Sakura's so unique iris.

"Do you think we can get even closer?"

Suo learned a few tricks when he was out of words, even if those situations didn't happen very often. And one of those tricks was to answer a question by another question. And once again, behind that aggressive attitude, Sakura was a naive and sweet soul, so he fell for the trick.

"Well you said that in order to be closer we have to open up." Sakura whispered, looking away and cheeks slightly pink. "But you're the one putting distance here. I told you, I can't understand you most of the time. I'm not forcing you to tell me though, everyone has their secrets and past, I'm just... I'm just saying that when I tell you I trust you it's no bullshit. Even if I can't figure you out, I know you'll always have my back. That's all."

Suo's eye shone. It shone like he found the answers to every question he ever wanted to ask.

"So... I don't think we have to open up more, not now at least. I just think it will come naturally... Friendship isn't about forcing others to do things they don't like. I think..."

Sakura was more and more embarrassed, but he continued his speech. As if he knew it was important for him to say and for Suo to hear.

"I guess I just wanted to say that you're torturing yourself too much about all this... Just let it be. I won't leave."

Oh.

Suo's eye widened upon hearing those words.

Oh. So that's why he was worried. That's why he wanted to try and know more about Sakura. So he could know things about him and stay close to him.

How funny. Who would've thought that he and Sakura shared the same fear?

"Yeah. I know you won't leave."

Suo's little smile was full of emotion in this instant. Sakura looked at him with a quite astonished air before turning away quickly. As if Suo's expression was too bright for him to look at it directly.

But you're the sun, Sakura. You're the sun and I'm the moon who needs your light to live and shine.

"And even if you tried, I won't let you leave my side anyway."

Sakura chuckled a little, losing his pinkish cheeks to look at him with a smug air.

"See, told you you're a weird guy."

"You're the weirdest between the two of us."

"Huh? Wanna fight??"

Suo smiled even wider, resting his face in his hand.

"If I recall, I told you I will never fight seriously against you."

I don't want to ever hurt you.

"I do really want to test your strength though..." Sakura answered. "I think I never saw you seriously fight, or even get hurt or sweat. What kind of monster are you?"

"A monster as ferocious as you."

"I'm no monster compared to you."

"You truly wanna fight me hm?"

Sakura raised an eyebrow when Suo put his hands on the desk and advanced his body, his face being now only a few centimeters away from Sakura's.

"If you wanna touch me so bad, I would rather you hold me in your arms."

When Suo went back in his chair, Sakura's expression was so much that he laughed out loud. Honestly, he said those words partly because they were true, but also because he knew very well that Sakura would react with his usual blushing face.

As he said, there's nothing that would stop him from teasing his captain.

"Y-You..." Sakura quickly looked away, clenching his fist on the desk. "You really are evil..."

"Come on now, I'm not that-"

Suo stopped his sentence when he felt something grab his hand. When he looked down on the desk, he saw Sakura still bruised palm clenching on his. Not too strong, but not so soft either.

Sakura was holding his hand.

Right now. In the classroom. When everyone could see them.

He was holding his hand.

"...Is this enough?"

Yes. But no. If you were able to read my mind, you'll know how much I need more of you. But yes. For now, this is enough.

Suo knew he was that kind of person that could easily mask his true emotions. It was his best asset, a trick he mastered to protect himself from the cruelty of the world. A bulwark, a wall he built to prevent people from entering and hurting his heart.

But here he was, ears pink and eye shining, looking at Sakura like tomorrow didn't exist.

"You're going too far to satisfy your friends, you know that?"

"Shut up. I won't do that with the other guys."

I won't do that with the other guys.

"You act like that just for me then?"

"Why asking when you already know the fucking answer..."

Oh Sakura. The things you do to me.

Seeing Sakura's flushing face becoming more and more red, Suo chose to stop there, only chuckling softly and strengthening his hold on Sakura's hand. The latter chose this moment to turn his head and look at him, still pouting and blushing. He truly was adorable.

Suo nodded slightly before looking down at their intertwined hands. For some reason, he felt his whole self burn up.

"I think your hands will need more treatment than this. You really went hard on this fight. Still not able to contain your strength?"

Suo did tell himself to stop the teasing but really, it was too tempting. And well, Sakura did say he was evil, so he has nothing to hide.

"If you're so impatient about treating my wounds, you should come to my apartment after the class and do it yourself."

Oh. That was new.

Suo's smile grew a little more mischievous seeing the determination in Sakura's eyes, as if he was set on not losing against him. As if it was a fight between them.

Maybe it was. Maybe it was their love language in this complicated and violent world.

And Suo agrees on that. On that complicated and violent relationship in this complicated and violent world. If it was to stay by Sakura's side, he will go through a thousand fights and protect him a thousand times.

If it was to keep that loud and cheerful classroom, if it was to keep Nirei smiles, Kiryu stories, Tsugeura enthusiasm and Sugishita grumpy face, then he will try. He'll try to open up more, to trust more and give more of himself to others.

Sakura's heterochromatic eyes fell into his and Suo understood, in this right moment, how much that guy changed him. And how much he will continue to change him. So he smiled in return, to show that he welcomed this change with arms wide open.

"I wouldn't mind that at all."

Sakura smiled. One of those sincere smiles he rarely showed. And this one was for Suo only.

"I'll protect you." Sakura suddenly said, still holding his hand. "If you ever need or want something just tell me. I'll be there."

No, I'm the one who will protect you, Sakura. With all my will and life. You're where my loyalty lies.

Suo's smile widened.

"Thank you for your devotion!"

Teenagers years were truly complicated. Even more when there were so many new emotions to figure out and so many new things to experience. But Sakura's hand was warm, his voice soft and his eyes calming. So Suo knew he was ready to follow this strange guy anywhere.

Well, they were probably both really strange, in the end. That's why they get along so well.

Notes:

Thank you for reading!

Sakura is soo interesting to write on, but I think I will also try to write on other wind breaker characters. As it's a recent mangas there's not a lot of information about them but I feel like they are very complex too, especially Suo. I bet his character development will be insane, and I'm really intrested about his past, I can't wait to see that!

Please don't hesitate to tell me what you think about my story! I'm dying to talk about wind breaker, hopefully with the anime being released there will be more people to talk to!

Anyway, thanks again for reading, hope y'all have a good day/night!
