Work Text:

steve remembers a serious face with a shadow of armour. he remembers two colorful kids in a bucky-like outfit. did bucky like them?
he remembers seeing that same suit hung up and the foggy memory of a fellow hero telling him he would not fight him. he remembers giving his shield to another brightly colored man. he must’ve been a super person. he remembers mistaking a charming man for an enemy.

his head hurt whenever he tried to remember. he can’t put his finger on what those memories are from. did he make them up while he was in ice?
he stared at the blank canvas in front of him.
painting always helped him. it helped him organize his feelings.
he picked up his paintbrush and dipped it in an inky black.
he wondered if the dark silhouette knew him. sometimes he can remember blue eyes, darker than his. sometimes he can remember rushed kisses in the dark.
he starts to paint, bleeding these barely coherent flashes of memory out onto a blank canvas.
