"Memory Ln."

Notes:

This is my first fic so sorry if its bad or uninteresting

I was inspired to write this because of this article: https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/features/2018/4/1/fall-in-love-with-these-citrus-real-life-locations

It's really interesting and it made me see Citrus in a whole new way, not as just a story, but it made these characters feel even more real.

I hope you enjoy! :)

Chapter Text

Chapter 1: A "New" Adventure

Yuzu sat on the couch in the living room, it had been almost 1 year since she and Mei got married, but it seemed much longer to her since spent a few years years in college together engaged. Over the years Yuzu started to feel homesick, she wasn't in her prime youth anymore and having a job as a teacher everyday just didn't feel the same as going to school as a student everyday. She was happy she was going to spend the rest of her life with Mei, but sometimes she wished that she would've had more experiences as a teenager.

"Showers ready", a familiar voice came from the hallway

Mei on the other hand was happy with her current life. She was the chairwoman of the academy and more importantly, she was with Yuzu. Nowadays Mei felt less light and joy come from the blonde and Mei knew Yuzu would start getting more disciplined as they got older, but didn't know why she was acting like this now.

"Alright, thanks Mei." Yuzu smiled, but before she did, Mei swore she heard a sigh come from her.

"Yuzu wait."

"Hm? Yea Mei?"

"Are you okay?"

"W-what are you talking about?"

"I mean you've been acting down lately and I just want to know if if somethings bothering you."

Yuzu sighed in defeat. "I guess you have the right to know." Yuzu sighed again. "Over the past few weeks I've started to miss our old lives, y'know the ones where it was just with me, you, Mama, and Papa. I had so many good memories back then and now it just doesn't feel the same. I guess I'm homesick or something but it just doesn't feel the same as before."

Mei had predicted this as one of her conclusions but now that Yuzu confirmed it, she knew that she had to fix it now before it got any worse. Mei thought for a moment on what to say and after a few long seconds, finally spoke.

"Yuzu, I know life isn't the same as before, and sometimes I too feel the same way" Mei sighed. "But I have an idea on how to solve this problem that happens to the 2 of us."

"Really? What is it?"

Mei gave a small smile. "I'll tell you after your shower"

"Oh, alright!"

And just like that, Yuzu headed to take a shower, eagerly thinking of what Mei could possibly doing to make her feel less homesick. Mei sat down on the couch and grabbed her phone and began looking up places she and Yuzu could possibly take a vacation to, but during the middle of Mei's scrolling she realized that Yuzu didn't want to go to somewhere to forget, she wanted to go somewhere to remember.

After Yuzu was done with her shower, Mei signaled her over to the couch. "So what's up?" Yuzu smiled.

"Well as long as the academy is okay with it, I'm thinking we could go to some places nearby that are pretty interesting to us for a week."

Yuzu was a bit surprised at first. Mei? The chairwoman of the academy? The coldest person she knew? Planning a trip... for the both of them? Yuzu didn't know if she heard Mei properly or she was daydreaming again.

Yuzu came back to Earth, "A... trip? For just the two of us? I'm happy, but I never thought I would hear this coming from yo-" Yuzu shut her mouth before she could finish the sentence, she hoped Mei didn't see that as an insult.

Mei gave a small smile "Basically, yes, but first I need to make sure the academy is okay with this arrangement and we need people to fill in for us."

Yuzu beamed. "Thanks Mei! I'm really glad that your looking up for me, but where are we going?"

Mei got up and turned around. "I think its best if you find out when we get there." And she walked away to go make a phone call to the academy.

4 days later

Mei and Yuzu were ready for their vacation and they had just arrived at the academy because Mei said she need to go there. They managed to find a high school teacher in the area to replace Yuzu for the week, but the chairwoman wasn't gonna be as easy, for anyone else at least. Mei already knew the perfect candidate to replace her while she was gone, a very confident but unknowing Momokino Himeko. She was the only person Mei could trust enough (besides Yuzu ofc) to handle a position like that.

Yuzu thought Mei was making a pit stop or had emergency work, but when she saw Mei not leaving her side, she was confused.

"Mei, why are we even at the academy? It's a Saturday, no ones gonna be here."

Mei chuckled silently and looked at the ground. "I know Yuzu, but I think it's best if we start going to our destination right here."

This made Yuzu even more confused, she knew it was somewhere nearby, but not this close. "Alright Mei. If you say so! Lead the way!"

And with that, they joined hands and started walking without a rush to the train station, but unbeknownst to them they had just entered a path that led straight to Memory Ln.
