Rui’s arms were wrapped around Tsukasa as he sat facing away from him in his lap. The blonde had spent the better part of the afternoon at his apartment. Outside the window, the sky was fading into a pale orange, pink streaks painting the clouds.
Rui pressed a kiss to the top of his head, nuzzling his face into his soft hair, and gave him a tight squeeze. He let his hands wander, trailing up and down his boyfriends sides. They landed on his hips, where he let them rest for a while, rubbing circles with his thumbs. Tsukasa let out a sigh and relaxed back against his boyfriend, his head leaning on his chest.
“You look very happy,” the vampire murmured, smiling. Tsukasa’s head tilted up, his sunset eyes catching Rui’s. His boyfriend always seemed to glow after Rui would feed— whether it was because of the paralyzing agent in his saliva that sedated him, or if Tsukasa just really liked to please— Rui quite enjoyed the tranquil expression he wore.
Tsukasa beamed. “Of course! Why wouldn’t I be, so close to you?”
Rui sometimes found it hard to hold back. If he had his way, he would spend the rest of time leaving kisses all over Tsukasa, never letting go. Unfortunately that was an unrealistic ideal, so he just bent over and caught his boyfriend’s lips against his own. His hands drifted upwards, sneaking under his shirt and moving to rub his belly.
He had always been pretty physically affectionate toward his boyfriend, but he had found himself gravitating toward touching Tsukasa around his stomach in recent months. It was harder to tell when he was dressed in his usual layers, but Rui had noticed he’d been putting on weight lately. His waistline had always been soft. Now, though, the curve of his belly had become more apparent.
Rui finally understood why Tsukasa was always touching his stomach.
When he pulled away from the kiss, Tsukasa’s face had become considerably more flushed. He ducked his head down, looking away to the side with his cheek pressed against Rui’s chest.
“What’s got you so shy all of the sudden?” the vampire teased, gently squeezing the fat lining his boyfriend’s midsection.
Rui felt Tsukasa’s hand rest on top of his own, calloused fingers brushing his skin. “You’ve just been… touching me there a lot,” he spoke quietly.
Rui stopped the movement of his hand. Had he been crossing a line…? A small spark of anxiety crept into Rui. “Do you want me to stop?”
“No…” Tsukasa shook his head.
Oh. So he liked it.
Chuckling in relief, he began kneading his belly once again, planting kisses on the top of his boyfriend's head indiscriminately. He heard the blonde giggle nervously, leaning into his touch.
“I can’t help but take advantage when there’s more of my boyfriend to hold~!” he purred, closing his eyes and smiling. He received a playful bat against his hand.
“You can be so embarrassing sometimes—!” he whined, shifting in his hold slightly. “You’ve always been the observant type, though..” Tsukasa trailed off.
“Oh?”
“Well, I read that people at a bigger weight have a higher blood volume, so they’re able to donate more blood. That’s why it’s unsafe for people under a certain weight to donate,” Tsukasa explained, tapping his index finger against the back of Rui’s hand.
The vampire paused and stared down at his boyfriend. The sudden silence compelled Tsukasa to glance back up toward Rui’s face, concern knitting his eyebrows.
“You’ve been gaining weight on purpose?” Rui asked, cocking his head gently to the side.
Tsukasa’s mouth straightened into a thin line before he brought his hands up to his reddening face and began to shake his head dramatically. “N-No!! That’s not it,” he stuttered, defending himself. “I’ve just not been monitoring what I’m eating as much!! That’s all!”
Rui knew how much Tsukasa loved his vampire bites. Despite being the human between the both of them, Tsukasa was often the one initiating being fed on. Sometimes Rui even had to turn him down due to his own safety. The taste of Tsukasa’s sweet blood cascading down his throat was an incredible sensation, and how he would love to continue to feed for as long as Tsukasa had blood in his body, but his boyfriend’s health was his number one priority. Unfortunately, Tsukasa was human, with only so much blood to spare at one time.
This was quite the solution Tsukasa had come up with, though.
And for some reason, it excited Rui.
Tightening his grip on his boyfriend, Rui tumbled sideways, taking Tsukasa with him as he fell against his bed. This elicited quite the squeak from Tsukasa, who gripped onto Rui’s arms in surprise.
“You’re so unabashedly adorable, Tsukasa-kun!” He propped himself on one arm, the other still wrapped around his waist, and peppered his boyfriend’s flushed face in kisses. “You love me sooo much,” he cooed, massaging Tsukasa’s midsection. Tsukasa just shoved his face into the soft comforter of Rui’s bed, whining in response.
The knowledge that Tsukasa was willing to make a change to his own body, albeit not a very drastic change, for Rui’s sake made his heart feel full. Though, he knew Tsukasa was a sensible enough person that he wouldn’t just haphazardly make decisions without thinking long and hard about it. He smiled, lovingly watching his boyfriend.
Tsukasa was a very kind person, and Rui found himself lucky to be able to hold him so close. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the back of Tsukasa’s neck, who sighed contently at his touch.
“You really are quite the amazing person,” Rui softly spoke, breath hot against Tsukasa’s neck.
Tsukasa hummed happily in response. “I know.”
