“Fit! Pac! Let’s play pretend!”
Sunny barged open the doors to her room, and was already running around the big space looking for costumes like an unstoppable ball of fire. Her room was filled with the colors yellow and orange, and sparkly toys and decorations were on the floor. Fit and Pac entered behind her, already a little tired from the eventful day of shopping with them in the mall.
“Sunny,” Fit sighed, watching her mess up her room even more than it already was, “Do you have any costumes that fit us?”
Pac snickered, “Oh right, I guess she wouldn’t, do you Sunny?”
Sunny stopped their reign of terror to stare at the two of them, as if they asked her an obscene question.
“Of course I do!” They declared, “If you look in my closet, there’s costumes for you two so that you can play with me!”
“How thoughtful, Sunny,” Fit replied, “Pac and I will take a look.”
Fit headed across the largely scaled bedroom to the walk-in closet, Pac following close behind. When he opened the unnecessarily giant doors to it, they both audibly gasped.
The sheer colossal size of this walk-in closet was probably bigger than both of their houses combined. It looked like something straight out of the Barbie show Sunny forced them to watch.
When Fit turned to Pac, his expression made him burst into laughter. His jaw was dropped, and his eyes were wide.
“Sunny…” Pac called out, while Fit was still cackling with his hands on his knees, “I think we’re going to get lost in there! Can you help us?”
Sunny responded with a dramatic sigh, and Fit heard her stomping her way over. Pushing aside Fit and Pac, they walked into the fortress of clothing like they knew it like the back of her hand. The two could only follow behind her as Sunny led them through some twists and turns, finally ending up in a little section of adult-sized costumes.
“Fit! Fit!” Sunny jumped up and down while grabbing onto his arm, “I wanna be royals! You can be the king and I can be the princess!”
Fit chuckled back, “Then what should Pac be?”
“Oh, I already have an idea!” Pac said, pulling out a very bright costume from the hanger. Fit didn’t even realize he moved, being as silent as a mouse while doing so.
The costume Pac held was a jester outfit. The colors were blue and yellow, in a strange diamond pattern, paired with a giant eccentric hat and silly elf-like shoes.
“Ready to put on a show, your majesties!” Pac announced with a theatrical bow.
“We aren't royals yet, Pac!” Sunny scolded, “Come on, Fit! Find a king costume!” She dragged him to the costume hanger with their hand pulling on his.
When they found all of their costumes, Sunny led them back to her bedroom and had Fit and Pac set up a space in the corner. They made a throne room, but instead of a fancy carpet it was Sunny’s blankets, and instead of fancy thrones it was Sunny’s nice beanbag chairs. It looked perfect for a king and princess.
Sunny got dressed up in their beautiful sparkly yellow gown and Fit put on his regal dark green robe and crown.
“I look very silly with this, Sunny,” Fit spoke, as he looked himself in the mirror.
Sunny shook their head. “Nonsense your grace! You are looking very much like a king!”
Fit huffed out a laugh and bowed. “I appreciate the kind words, my princess Sunny.”
Pac got into his costume, and while Fit didn’t think it was a flattering outfit, Pac surely looked good in it. He made sure he didn’t say that out loud.
Fit and Sunny took their seats on their respected thrones and watched Pac put on a show for them. He would try to juggle random things in Sunny’s room, take off his prosthetic and pretend it was walking on its own, and many more silly things that made the two royals laugh their heads off. After making them both cackle over a joke, Pac had a mischievous grin on his face.
“Oi, your highness!” Pac called at Sunny, “Have you ever seen a tomato appear out of thin air before?”
Sunny turned her head in confusion. “No, mister jester, I have not! What does that look like?”
“Well, I’ll show you!” He declared, walking up to stand in front of Fit’s throne.
Pac gave a bow to Fit, and held out his hand. “Permission for your hand, your majesty?” When Pac said ‘your majesty’, his voice lowered an octave, and his eyes glinted with deviousness. Fit felt like he was getting a little too warm in his robe.
“Uh, sure.” Fit stuttered. He could feel Sunny’s stare of death for not speaking in royal tongue, but didn’t say anything. Fit was lower on the ground than Pac from sitting on the bean bag chair, so he raised his arm up for Pac to hold.
When Pac lowered his face to press a kiss onto the top of Fit’s hand, he felt his face become hot. And Sunny started bursting with laughter.
“Hahaha! What a great magic trick Pac!! A tomato DID appear!!!” Sunny fell out of her bean bag chair from laughing too hard.
Pac let go of Fit’s hand and started giggling as well. All Fit could do was stare as the both of them laughed at his very red face.
“I’m sorry Fit!” Pac spoke in giggles, “I just had to! I can’t believe it worked!”
Fit crossed his arms and sulked. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it off.” That was all he could say, too embarrassed to speak anymore.
Then, he suddenly had an idea.
He stood up off the bean bag chair and smoothed out his robe. Pac was still in front of him, still laughing, but was caught off guard when Fit stood up, and stopped to look at him.
Fit gave him a smirk. “Well, jester, you have made a perfect example. For that, I’ll have to give you my gratitude.” He reached his hand down to hold Pac’s, raised it to his face, and kissed the top of his hand, just like Pac had. When Fit looked up while still kissing his hand, Pac was blushing with his mouth open. He looked flustered beyond belief. Hah, revenge.
And then Sunny ran to both of them and split them up while yelling.
“Hey hey!! Keep your lovey-doveyness out of very important roleplay! Let’s move on to something else before I puke like my pa when he’s around you guys.” Sunny started to walk away, abandoning the throne room for her grand doll house on the other side of her room.
Fit and Pac could only oblige, glancing at each other shyly the entire time while following Sunny’s lead.
