Chapter Text
Nick was always fond of photography. He enjoyed taking pictures of things he found beautiful, found interesting, found artful. He especially liked being somebody’s go-to person when they needed any help taking pictures, or recommendations on cameras. The entire art really interested him.
He loved going through all the photos he had taken, going through all of his periodically and reminiscing on fond memories with Matt & Chris. All of the moments they shared together were, admittedly, fond, but there were a few key moments he loved to look back at.
Nick had just gotten his first camera for their birthday, and he couldn’t be more excited. He was fiddling with all the buttons, reading over the manual, researching inspiration photos. Of course, Chris & Matt were on either side of him, watching as he worked, but Nick made sure to keep it far away enough that they couldn’t mess with anything.
“Nick, give it,” Chris whined, trying to swipe the camera from his hands. “I just want to see it! I won’t press anything, I promise.”
Matt looked over at Chris, leaning forward so he could be seen from behind Nick. “Chris, c’mon, just let him. We’d probably break it.”
“Hey! You don’t know that! Besides, Nick doesn’t know what he’s doing yet, maybe I could help-“
“Yes! Got it!” Nick jumped out of the seat, shutting one eye and using the other to look through the viewfinder. “Woah…”
“What? What happened?” Chris jumped up too, crowding next to Nick as he continued looking around. Nick turned to look at him through his camera, laughing before he dropped it away from his face.
“Look, I got it to work. You see, this button turns on the flash, and this one zooms in and out, and this-“
“Woah, woah, slow down, that’s a lot.” Chris looked through the viewfinder at Nick, putting it down before giving it back to him. “How can taking photos need that many buttons?”
Nick rolled his eyes, turning next to him to look at Matt. “Want a turn?”
Matt shook his head and smiled. “Honestly, I’m really afraid to break it.”
Nick sent him a gentle smile in return, looking down at the gadget in his hands. “Yeah, I get that.” Nick turned towards Matt, looking at him through the camera before putting it down.
“Wait! Chris, come here, get in!” Nick gestured for them to get close, and Chris excitedly came over, throwing an arm around Matt’s shoulder and throwing up a thumbs-up gesture.
Nick held the camera up to his face, clicking the shutter and hearing a satisfying click. He looked down to look at the photo he had taken, feeling Matt & Chris on each side of him looking over his shoulder.
“Oooh, we look good.”
“Yeah, we do. All because of Nick’s photography skills, I bet,” Matt said as he placed his hand over Nick’s opposite shoulder, practically leaning on him. “What else are you gonna do with it?”
Nick turned to him. “Well, I kinda just wanna carry it with me everywhere, honestly. So I never forget any memories we have, y’know?”
Chris cooed from next to him. “Aww, Nick! You love us!” Chris went in for a hug, and Nick decided to hug him back instead of pushing him away. He was right, after all; he really would never want to forget the memories he made with his brothers.
“C’mon! Go take a picture of Trevor! Ooh, and take a picture of Mom’s flower beds! And that funny looking bird! And-“
As he spoke, Chris was dragging Nick outside, and Nick let himself be pulled as Matt trailed right behind him. He was always glad when they were as interested in his hobbies as he was. Matt laughed alongside him as Chris stuck his hands out, chasing after their pet dog.
“Trevor, get over here!”
Nick held the camera up to his face as he took a photo of the scene before him, laughing the entire time. Yeah, he was gonna be using it a lot.
