Chapter Text
Felix took a deep breath as he stared at the number written on the door of the flat he was about to start living in. Minho had told him that his very soon-to-be roommate was nice. The blond hoped his hyung was right. From what Minho said, the guy, Seungmin, was a bit introverted and seemingly cold at first. Though he'd open up soon enough. Felix had used this information to decide that he wouldn't wait for Seungmin to make the first move when they met in a little bit.
Seungmin-ssi. Felix liked how the name felt at the back of his throat. They had technically met via text to see if they vibed with each other before Felix was given permision to move in. But the blond would be in the same room with Seungmin for the first time.
If he knocked on the door and got let in, that is.
Felix let go of the handle of his luggage and gulped. He hugged his arm full of plushies a little tighter and knocked. Immediately after knocking, he clung back onto the handle of the luggage.
After what felt like minutes, it was actually seven seconds, the door opened with a creaking sound. Felix was met with a guy a bit taller than him, looking him up and down before stepping away from the entrance to make room for the blond and his stuff.
"Felix-ssi, come in."
Felix immediately shuffled inside clumsily as he smiled brightly.
The door was instantly shut behind him, Seungmin swiftly moved to, once more, face Felix.
"It's so nice to finally meet you in person Seungmin-ssi!" Felix spoke up as he offered his hand for Seungmin to shake.
What neither of them were expecting however, was multiple thump sounds as Felix extended his hand towards the taller. Felix looked down to see his plushies on the floor. How had he managed to forget which hand held the luggage and which arm cradled his plushies? He didn't know. Though he knew for sure that his ears and cheeks were starting to get red. His head snapped back up to see how Seungmin would react.
The blond was pleasantly surprised when all that left Seungmin's lips was an "Oh!" and a few chuckles before both of them bent down to collect the plushies off the floor.
After Felix had managed to regroup his plushies in one arm, this time they shook hands properly.
"Let me show you to your room. You'll unpack, then maybe we'll lay out some ground rules?" Seungmin offered as he started walking towards Felix's new room.
"Sure! Sounds like a plan!"
Felix shyly yet enthusiastically walked back into the living room once he had vaguely unpacked and settled. He found Seungmin sitting on one of the four chairs set around what Felix assumed to be a dining table, legs criss crossed.
Quite frankly, the blond was a bit intimidated. It all felt very formal. He reminded himself how Minho had said that Seungmin would open up sooner or later.
"So, you were saying ground rules?" Felix mumbled as he took a seat across from the taller.
"Yes. There are a few things I'm strict about but other than that, I'd also want us to get to know each other… if that makes sense?" Seungmin was quick to respond.
"Alrighty!" Felix said with a gummy smile, letting Seungmin set his rules.
"So basically, as long as you don't touch anything that's specifically mine, you're good. My stuff and my food, please stay away from those. In fact, let's say we bought pastries for ourselves. I'd appreciate it if yours didn't touch mine. Wrapper included."
"Oh okay! I'll do my best, I promise! Do you have a spot on the couch or the table? Should I look out for that too?"
Seungmin observed as the blond guy across from him frantically asked questions. He didn't seem to be mocking. It felt like the questions were out of genuine curiosity. Seungmin almost smiled. Minho-hyung was right about Felix-ssi.
"Well I'm glad you asked. For the dining table, the spot I'm currently sitting in is my spot. I like the narrow edge of the rectangular table. I also like facing the door. So if you want to sit across from me, the spot you are currently sitting on, will be your spot. Though you can sit anywhere. As for the couch, I like sitting on the arms of the couch." Seungmin answered patiently.
"Alrighty! Noted! Are there any other rules?"
Seungmin was so happy that his now roommate was so considerate and so, well, enthusiastic to accommodate him.
"Not really. Just, I'd like to know beforehand if you choose to bring someone over for the night. Also not making too much noise throughout the night would be great."
"Okay! I'll be careful about that if I ever stay up too late or bring someone over. Though I doubt I will do either of those. At least not anytime soon." Felix replied with a chuckle.
"Then you're good! So, any rules you want to have?" Seungmin asked, invested to hear what Felix had to say.
The blond in question sat there and fiddled with his fingers for a while as he thought for a while.
"Well, I'd also like to know if you happen to bring someone home. Also if I need to be in the house or out of the house at any given moment. If that makes sense(?) Other than that, it's not necessarily a rule but since we're gonna be roommates, I'd like it if we used less formal honorifics when addressing each other. Only if you're comfy with it as well!"
Felix cut himself off after realizing that he had been rambling.
"Oh sure. That works for me. You're a bit older than me right? I can call you Felix-hyung instead of Felix-ssi if you want." Seungmin said calmly. He hoped that he had sounded reassuring.
"That would be great! Would you be comfy with me calling you Seungmin-ah?"
"Yep. It's all good."
Seungmin watched as Felix started to grow a bit more confident.
"So, Seungmin-ah-" the blond interrupted himself with a small giggle upon enjoying how the nickname felt and sounded just right. "Would you be okay with us having dinner together some nights? Minho-hyung mentioned that we have a pretty high chance of getting along so I thought maybe we'd give being friends a shot rather than just being strangers who live in the same house."
Seungmin couldn't help but chuckle. Minho-hyung was also right about Felix being a yapper. The brunette wasn't bothered though. Felix seemed to be an easy person to talk to. He was open to communication and allowed Seungmin to do what he liked doing, listening.
"To be fair, I'd be more comfortable with living with a friend rather than a stranger." the brunette supplied, very calmly reassuring Felix that the two were on the same page.
"Speaking of dinner, I brought cutlery of my own. Is it okay if I put them in the same drawer as yours? Oh and would it be okay if you didn't use them?" Felix continued.
"Sure. That's fine by me."
"Thank you so much! That's great!"
"So, Felix-hyung. You'd like to have dinner together tonight? We'll get to know each other more. It'll be a start." Seungmin asked with a playful chuckle.
"Yes! Sounds like a great plan Seungmin-ah! Ooh! Maybe we should invite Minho-hyung?" Felix replied, smirking.
"He'll just tell embarrassing stories about us like a mum trying to bond with his kid's friends. Didn't you see the shit he pulled in the group chat he made to introduce us?"
"It worked didn't it??"
"I guess you have a point. Can you text him? I'll see what we can order. You got any diatery restrictions hyung?"
"Nope! I'm more than okay with whatever!"
