Work Text:

“I can’t believe we get to catsit for Christine for a whole weekend” Jeremy laughed, swinging around the toy fishing rod, making the colourful feathers attached to it flutter.

Michael grinned, taking another picture of the small black kitten “I know right? Bea is an angel”.

Christine’s cat was the sweetest thing on the planet - it was only a few months old, covered head to paw in fuzzy black fur, with large amber eyes constantly wide in excitement.

“Did you know she named the cat Beatrice after a character in a Shakespeare play?” Jeremy mentioned, rubbing his nose slightly.

“Of course she did.” Michael sighed, rolling his eyes fondly “Which one?”.

“Much Ado about Nothing” his boyfriend answered, abandoning the toy in favour of holding Bea close and gently petting her head.

Michael shrugged “Haven't heard of it”.

Jeremy laughed “That’s fair” he conceded “It’s funny in that Shakespeare way”. He started explaining a rundown version of the plot when he was interrupted by a loud sneeze, the cat jumping in surprise at the sound.

Michael turned to his boyfriend as he sneezed again “Sorry” Jeremy apologised, rubbing his face “I think I got fur up my nose”.

“I just hope you’re not allergic” Michael said worriedly “Maybe stay away from the cat for a bit?”.

Jeremy pouted, pressing the black fuzzball closer to his chest “Absolutely not”.

He continued to explain the plot, at some point getting derailed and rambling about something that had happened during play rehearsal with Christine and Rich, waving one hand animatedly, the other occupied in petting Bea, who had long since fallen asleep on his lap.

The sight would have been adorable and sickeningly domestic if it weren't for the fact that Jeremy paused every two seconds to let out a sneeze.

After yet another loud sneeze - his nose had practically gone red at this point - Jeremy sniffled, rubbing his face. “Hey, Michael?” he called.

His boyfriend looked up from his phone “Yes Jeremy?”

“I think I might be allergic to cats”

“I know” Michael sighed “Let me check if we have allergy medicine”.
