Subspace quickly pushed his apartments door open, the door swinging into the wall and slamming it with a rough thud. The quad-horned demon panted as he shut his front-door only to rush into another door, rushing to his closet and pushing it open. Throwing his clothes around and yanking clothes off coat-hangers with urgency.
He glanced at the time before pulling out a suit, although not in its highest quality, he threw it on anyways, he stared at himself in his long-lengthed mirror. He looked a mess, he tried messing with his hair, ruffling it up but nothing really helped. He looked at the time again-,
Oh shoot. Broker would probably be waiting by now!!
His worries were confirmed by a rock thudding against his window. He groaned as he looked at himself, rolling his eye and going to unlock the window. He saw the teal demon leaning against a tree, waiting for the pink demon to reach him.
Subspace was unusually nervous, why was he nervous?? He was never nervous!! Subspace internally sighed and judged himself, just HOW did he let himself get this pathetic?? With a quick inhale he climbed out the window, sliding down the tree and meeting Broker at the bottom, glancing around to make sure they were alone, Broker was the first to speak, smiling as he looked the other up and down.
“Glad to see you didn’t stand me up, Subspace!”
Broker winked. He was also in a suit, although no nicer kept than Subspaces, Subspace thought he looked amazing.
“Of course I didn’t!! Who do you take me for, Broker? I’m wounded!!” Subspace placed a hand against his head to add to his dramatic act, getting a chuckle out of Broker.
“Well, let’s get going!” Broker smiled, taking Subspaces hand and walking rather quickly, Broker was already so sick of the snowy weather of Blackrock! Though, he acted unbothered.
Subspace lived by the edge of Blackrock, so they reached the bus stop quickly. Subspace quickly pulled his hand from Brokers, shooting an apologetic look for a second before regaining his serious look, it was just a short ride, they’d be fine. Nobody was on the bus anyways, well except the driver. But Subspace took caution anyways.
Broker reluctantly followed their usual routine, AKA They act like they don’t know each-other, something Subspace had insisted when they began dating, he figured it was ‘safer’ for both their reputations and each-other if they simply hid their relationship from everyone.
The bus ride went quick, at-least it did for Subspace. Broker almost despised the silent bus-trips more than the cold.
They stepped off, and Broker took Subspaces hand again.
“Hey- People can still see us in Crossroads, You know-!!” Subspace whisper-scolded. Broker scoffed and looked around.
“Hun, It’s deader then a flower in Lost temple, we’re fine.. Please?” Broker loosened his grip on Subspaces hand, so he could pull away if he really wanted, but the pink demon hesitated, before returning the soft grasp.
“Fine..” Subspace muttered hesitated, paranoia still prickling at the edges of his mind, but Brokers hold kept him from breaking, shattering. Broker was basically like glue for his fractured mind, not that he’d admit that, though.
“So- How much longer until we reach this ‘mystery’ spot?” Subspace curiously inquired, trying to hide his slight fear that maybe Broker was just taking him somewhere to kill him.. Despite their several month long relationship. Some things don’t change!!
“Shh, not long, you’ll see!” Broker spoke with a cheerful tone, his steps bounced and he seemed to be in the total opposite mindset now that they were off that bus.
Subspace was still curious, but allowed Broker to keep leading him, until the two reached an.. alleyway?
“This is just.. a dead end?” Subspace muttered. Oh gods, maybe Broker was gonna murder him!!
Broker could already see the panic of the other, and laughed. “Relax, Just do what I do!” Broker cheered.
Broker than released Subspaces hand, and hoped onto a dumpster, then the edge of a windowsill, A streetlight, and then finally climbed onto the edge of a buildings roof, he peered over the edge and looked down at Subspace. “Cmon, it’s easy!”
Subspace was.. Hesitant, sure, he wasn’t weak or anything, obviously. But, was any of this stuff even stable?? He took a deep breath and followed the same steps, although messy.
He pulled himself up onto the dumpster, hesitantly leaping onto the windowsill, which luckily he didn’t slip off of. He landed on the flat side of the nearby streetlight, and finally leapt up and onto the rooftop edge. He stumbled a bit on his way up, Broker holding him up with a chuckle. Broker was far more used to scaling up the buildings of Crossroads than Subspace was.
Subspace realised that Broker was holding him and pulled himself up and away, not wanting to embarrass himself or anything.
“Hah.. That was easy!!” He stated proudly, as if all his moments of hesitation weren’t real. Broker decided to let his partner parade proudly, not wanting to take the smile off the pink demon, which he could only faintly see under the gas mask, he wished Subspace would remove that more.
Subspace looked around before realising what his surroundings were.. The rooftop was isolated, no other viewpoints unless you were up there, there was a picnic blanket, as well as unlit candles at safe distances, and sitting on one side was a small music-player.
Broker took a lighter out of his pocket, looking up.
It wasn’t dark yet but it was still late evening, they two reached their spot a bit earlier than Broker had assumed. He shrugged and lit the candles anyways, it’d get dark soon, though, it was awfully cloudy, he hoped it meant nothing.. Subspace was, oddly silent. Broker turned with a worried glance, only to be met with his partner seemingly starstruck, in awe of the small set-up. Broker was worried maybe he didn’t like it though, he spoke nervously.
“Sorry, this might be a bit too cheesy for us- We can just go to-“
Subspace shushed his partner, thumping his foot against the roof-top and blushing as he jumped to Broker, getting up in the other demons face.
“It’s perfect!! It’s so isolated and all!!” Subspace sounded extremely excited, even more than he sounded when he spoke to Broker about his latest invention.. Broker smiled gleefully, his gaze met Subspaces, the two were pretty close.. He decided to take a rather risky movement, but he just wanted to see his lovers face again. The teal demon reached a hand up and unclasped the gas mask, taking it off Subspaces face, revealing the pink demons scarred face a bit more, with a swift yet gentle movement, Broker stole a kiss from Subspace, which Subspace was quick to return.
After the two separated, Broker stepped back. the night began to fall a bit, but.. clouds also covered the sky.. Broker just hoped Subspace didn’t mind. Broker tuned the music player, just putting on some music to fill the silence, and then looked at Subspace before taking the hand of the other, not giving Subspace time to respond before pulling him down to the blanket.
It hurt Subspace a bit, being yanked down but he didn’t mind at all, instead he found himself giggling. He was unusually soft, but for once nothing pulled him out of his soft state, instead he let it stay, smiling gently as he lay next to Broker. Subspace finally noticed the clouds, turning to Broker.
“It’s .. kind of cloudy, huh?” He asked, disappointment slipping through his tone despite the softness.
“Eh.. I’m sure it’ll be okay! They’ll pass..” Broker tried to sound optimistic, for Subspaces sake.
….
Not even a-few minutes later, while the two were having a conversation about Subspaces latest advancements to his Biografts, Broker felt a drip-let of rain hit his horn, and slip down onto the blanket.
Subspace noticed it too, and then felt rain hit him too, it started of gentle, but it didn’t take long to become noticeable.
“Ugh!! Of course- It just had to-!!” Subspace complained, frustrated as his foot thumped, he seemed to quickly change his mood from bubbly to frustrated in the blink of an eye. He frowned as rain hit the rooftop, Broker moved his hands to Subspaces.
“Hey, Hey! It’s not that bad right..?”
“It’s raining!! And we have no roof because, we’re on one!!” Subspace growled, glaring away from Broker. He wasn’t mad at Broker, not at all, just.. the situation at hand.
Broker tried to think- How to fix this.. He couldn’t just- go home, they’d been trying to find time for a date for weeks now! Stupid rain.. Broker then got an idea, the music player was still going, it was the the only thing interrupting the sounds of the rain hitting against the roofs surface.
Broker held Subspaces hand, before tugging the scientist up to stand with him, making the other stumble.
“Hey!! What was that for!!” Subspace questioned, ear twitching with annoyance and confusion, Broker didn’t reply, only putting a hand around Subspace, and.. dancing? Or at least, something like that. Broker didn’t actually know how to dance.
It took Subspace a few seconds to realise what Broker was doing, and even more for him to calm down. Broker worried maybe this was a wrong move, should he stop?? He didn’t get to answer his thoughts when suddenly Subspace started giggling, and then laughing.
“Ha-Haheh- Who- Who taught you to dance?? Haha!!” Subspace tried to talk but got interrupted by his own laughter, cracking up at the poor attempt at fancy dancing.. Broker at first felt a little offended, before laughing along with Subspace.
“What? Is my dancing not good enough for the greaaat Subspace T.Mine?” He chuckled, before attempting to swoop Subspace down, it was meant to be romantic and instead caused the two to laugh more at the cheesy moves of the dance.
“Hah! Far from it!! It’s as if you’ve never been taught, did you dance with all your past lovers like this?” He teased with a faint blush tinting his cheeks, allowing Broker to continue to, although terribly, dance with him.
“Only you, Subspace.” He smiled, spinning Subspace around right after he spoke, the move taking the other off his footing, trying to catch himself, Subspace ended up taking Broker down with him. The two demons yelped, falling down and being tangled with each-other. They exchanged flustered looks before pushing the other away.. After a few seconds of silence, Broker laughed, and then Subspace did too.
“You- That was all your fault!!” Subspace playfully argued, crossing his arms as he scoffed teasingly.
“You grabbed onto me!” Broker argued back, mocking Subspaces pout by doing the same actions, but more exaggerated. Subspace faked an offended gasp before practically pouncing onto Broker, shutting the other demon up with a kiss, pulling away and smirking. “Just shut up!! You’re so stupid..” Despite the insult, Subspaces tone was filled with nothing but affection for the other.
The two continued to playfully flight and bicker. Almost forgetting about the rain and the face they were both absolutely soaked by the water.

The next morning, Subspace woke up with a sneeze, and his head felt though it was pounding.. he groaned in pain as he lied back down and pulled the blanket over him.
Worth it, totally worth it.
