Work Text:
Kuroo isn't sure why Bokuto invited him to third-wheel it with him and Akaashi, but here he is, sitting at the Fukurodani alumnis' dining table while Akaashi serves him a bowl of ramen.
“So where’s Bokuto again?” Kuroo asks Akaashi.
“I’m not certain. He only texted that he was running late.” Akaashi answers as he joins Kuroo at the table. “Please go ahead. I’m sure he’ll be here soon.”
Kuroo nods, giving an ‘itadakimasu’ before he begins eating.“Do you have him on Life360?” he squeezes out between bites.
“Oh. I don’t think that’s necessary. I trust Bokuto-san, and I respect his privacy.”
“So you don’t have any way to track him?” Kuroo asks incredulously.
“Well…” Akaashi fiddles nervously with his chopsticks.“I’ll admit that sometimes I log into our bank account to see if he’s made a recent purchase if I think he's taking too long.”
Kuroo places a hand on Akaashi’s shoulder. “Hey, I get it. Gotta make sure he’s not dead in a ditch, right?”
“Yes," Akaashi sighs heavily. "Usually I find that he’s simply picked up something for dinner, but he knows that I made dinner for us tonight.”
“Even so, it couldn’t hurt to check.” Kuroo suggests. “It would at least give us an idea of when to expect him.”
Akaashi nods in agreement, pulling out his phone. A moment later, Akaashi furrows his brows in concern. “What a pain," he says irritably. “It looks like our account has been compromised.”
“Oh?” Kuroo asks, clearly intrigued. “What makes you say that?”
“There was a purchase made today for $1,000.”
“Damn, really? That sucks. What was the charge for?”
“I don’t know, but it looks like it’s some type of jewelry store.” Akaashi proceeds to dial a number on his phone before putting it up to his ear. “I need to straighten this out.”
Kuroo grabs the phone out of Akaashi’s hand and disconnects the call. “Akaashi," he says sternly, burning an all-knowing stare into the other man's eyes.
“What is it Kuroo-san?”
“A jewelry store?” Kuroo asks, with a tilted head and raised eyebrows. It doesn't take long before Akaashi’s jaw hits the floor.
“OH MY GOD!”
As it turns out, Bokuto wanted Kuroo to film the proposal, having left out that tiny detail when he initially invited him over. But hey, it's his job at the future best man to anticipate these kinds of things, right?
